Crown Royal XR Canadian Rye Whisky
There was a time when I didn't think Crown Royal was "the good stuff", but now I know I was wrong. I have been incredibly impressed with this bottle of XR. A light sip with a bite on the tail end. Spicy, yet sweet. I loved every bit of it.

New to whisky (Rye Whiskey Recommendation)
Hello everyone,
I am new to the world of whiskey. My only introduction was an Old Fashioned prepared with Bulliet Bourbon. One of my friends loves Knob Creek 9 year old bourbon (I have not had the chance to try this).
I am looking to spend anywhere from $20- $35 for 750ml (sorry my budget is a little limited, and I like to drink most weekends, and share drinks with family too often to buy something more expensive)
I would like something I could sip neat, also something that would be good with an ice cube, and in an old fashioned.
I have been eye balling High West Double Rye, I've read it makes great old fashioned cocktails. However I have also looked at Rittenhouse. Recently I had Lip Service Rye whisky in an old fashioned at a restaurant and it was tasty...
Thoughts? I am a little overwhelmed by all the options.

I seldom drink whisky with Coke, but when I do (usually on a hot summer day) it's nearly always rye... and Canadian Club is the most readily available around here. Don't like it neat though, sorry Don Draper!

JP Wiser's Triple Barrel Rye ($15) - I have had a previous bottle, and I liked it well enough, but I don't think I would pay "retail" for it. But for a Canadian whisky, not too bad. Why is it that Canadian whisky tends to not be great, at least for the affordable range?

For all you fellow MBs that were wondering about this one... itβs a Canadian 20yo rye whisky and Iβm quite disappointed. For the same price, Iβd buy another port charlotte heavy peat 10yo without hesitation! Itβs in the simple, boring, crown royal territory for me so meh.

Iβm finally starting to expand my whiskey palate past bourbon and blended whisky. The Four Roses Single barrel has been a staple but this marks my first Islay scotch, first Rye, and first American single malt. Enjoying all of these so far.
