A list of puns related to "Oxyacetylene"
I am making custom tables, shelves, and other odd ball stuff as a side hustle and I need to get either a plasma cutter or oxyacetylene setup, but I can't decide which one would be the better bang for the buck. I will eventually have both, as I know the gas has other applications besides just cutting.
Most of the material is going to be mild steel, some stainless and most less than 1/2".
What are some pros and cons of either that I may not be thinking of.
Thank you for any ideas.
I'm new to oxyacetylene and was wondering if there's any tips and tricks anybody would be willing to share with me. Thanks
I'm taking a oxyacetylene course at my college and needed gloves, I couldn't find oxyacetylene gloves so I got stick welding gloves will they be able to hold up?
The brand is masterforce and they're made out of buffalo leather .
I am curious if i could use a crucible with oxyacetylene to melt the Aluminium Oxide and Chromium Oxide together without impurities to make a perfectly transparent ruby
The title basically says it all. I can make a good puddle weld itself, but in keeping it straight, Iβm unable to do that. Is there any good strategies I can use to do that?
Weld test tips
Just curious: How popular is OxyAcetylene welding in todays world?
So, I've been looking at the production methods for oxyacetylene in the game, and I'm...confused. The biggest issue is that there are basically four different types of oxygen canister. Emergency oxygen packs (ID smoxygen_tank) and oxygen tanks (ID oxygen_tank) are the ancient tools with nondescript charges, with the medical use_action. Then there's oxygen canisters (ID oxygen_cylinder) that's also a tool full of lots of charges, but it does nothing.
Finally, the actual oxygen (ID oxygen) is ammo, implied to be nebulous amorphous canister ammo like the hydrogen used in plasma weapons. The oddity here is that these oxygen items seem to be newer than oxygen tanks, but use the old-style hack of being discrete blobs of ammo, but some of the OTHER newer chemistry items use the less-hacky "tool with charges" method that was already the standard. The oxyacetylene recipe demands these amorphous canisters, but here's the catch: as far as I can tell, they don't exist. At all. No itemgroups ping them, and they aren't craftable.
This seems to be a shared trend with the newer flavor chemistry items (there are also uncraftable hydrogen canisters that don't spawn anywhere, distinct from plasma canisters, ID hydrogen_canister). But the different there is hydrogen canisters also don't have any use, so the fact they don't really exist is irrelevant. But someone decided to add a recipe citing an item that is literally impossible to acquire, as far as I've been able to determine.

I'm trying to find the components required to make more fuel for the torch. First off, where do I find oxygen and acetylene? I've been through all sorts of cities and labs and have never found any. It also says I need a tool with pressurizing of 1 or more. What tool would satisfy this requirement? I can't craft anything with that quality so I'm not sure what I'm looking for unless its some sort of compressor.
Not really sure if this is the right sub, but Iβm considering the plausibility of making a torch simply by mixing oxygen from a tank and acetylene from a calcium carbide and water reaction, assembling the rest with parts from a hardware store. I donβt really have the money for an actual torch, nor do I need one. I just want to show it off and melt steel for the satisfaction of melting steel. Is there even a chance of this being able to work, or will this just lead to me blowing myself up?
Iβm thinking of getting an oxyacetylene torch to do some basic welding and cutting should I get a torch or just get a welder and a plasma cutter
I'm practicing oxyfuel joints for the Washtenaw Community College Welding Competition and for the most part, I'd say I'm proficient in butt, lap, and outside corner, but I can't for the life of me weld a tee joint. Most of the time, the pools don't fuse and/or I can't get the pool to move forward. For the set up at my school, I use a Victor torch with a #0 tip on 14 gauge steel with copper coated 3/32" filler rod in the flat position with ~5 psi for both oxygen and acetylene. Any help is appreciated.
Charlie Baker shook in his seat, a mix of intense apprehension and the driving force the aircraftβs engine jostling him from side to side. His eyes switched back and forth from the dark and stormy horizon in front of him to the instruments below in order to keep his bearing steady, a shaky but practiced hand coming up with every other switch of his gaze to wipe away the drops of rain that constantly accumulated over the thin glass gauges.
The torrent had been falling since midday, and extremely violent wind-swept waves had pitched the Ark Royal around from the time Charlie woke up in his bunk to the moment he took off from her, long after night had fallen. Sixteen matching biplanes lifted from the deck then, one after another until they were all above the roaring sea flying together into the black and wet night. Charlie was moderately dry thanks to the wing-made canopy above his head, but his back-facing companion in Nigel Whitaker to the rear was not so lucky- with nothing to cover him, the rain pummeled the man in his seat and filled to an inch where his feet rested below his seat, soaking his boots in icy water. His gloved hands held tightly to a machine gun fixed opposite of his seat, and he warily watched the dark sky and the freezing sea below.
βAre we fookinβ there yet?!β He yelled, half-turning his head so that he could look to the front with one eye.
Charlie scanned the empty horizon again and then looked to the aircraft leading his formation, neither having changed since they began on their course.
βNo, Nigel! Lead is still steaming straight, and I canβt see a bloody thing!β Charlie shouted back, sliding his hands up and down the stick and flexing his fingers to stave off soreness.
Moments passed as he kept his biplane steady. Then as his eyes returned to the dark horizon again a giant bolt of green split the sky and struck the waves ahead, revealing the cracked and broken silhouette of a familiar cruiser sinking beneath them in two parts. His eyes shot open and all at once the radio of every aircraft in his formation fought for speaking priority until one voice came through.
βCanβ¦- Can anyone confirm-β Captain Barkeley cut out once, his voice coming back incredulous and shaky, βWas that the Sheffield?β He finished quickly, and a dozen other voices took turns calling in what each had prayed to be an illusion.
As they drew closer another bolt struck the sea and lit up the wreckage again, smoking steel receding under the water

I used to use the milling machine at ADX on and off for years, but they closed down their makerspace earlier in the year. I learned these machines through a PCC class that took place at Franklin HS, and it seems to have also shut down from what I can find. I'm not seeing anything in any online search, maybe there's something I'm missing? TIA
