propylene glycol taste question

Hey so I bought propylene glycol from two different sources. In both I was able to displace the substance but one of them the taste is simply unbearable to drink, it's like it's worse than drinking liquid alcohol. Anyone has any idea what the problem might be?

I'm not sure but since it's a legal substance it's unlikely that the source (both legal sources) that the taste was just bizarre was something else

Any ideas?

Little comparison with the homemade batch. First photo is before, second photo is after the addition of a little propylene glycol, and 20-30 minutes of half-assed kneading. dandruff or skin dryness when using topical finasteride with propylene glycol

Hi everyone,First of all glad to here, I find this forum very interesting and helpful.

I've decided to try topical fin after 8 years with just min. I bought Essegen-6 Plus from minoxidilmax ( top min+fin), that contains propylene glycol (PG), which is a compound I've avoided since it used to irritate my scalp.

I use it for an month an a half, 0.5mm per day (0.25mg fin, planning to increase it). I almost drop it because of my allergy to PG, but as time goes it almost stopped and I continue to use it.

I've noticed dandruff or skin dryness on my scalp. I also suspected fin residues, but the picture was taken after an shower. Is it a reasonable scalp reaction to the PG or other ingredients or the solution? Could it be a good reason to stop?

In addition I use Nizoral and Nioxin. I read both causes hair dryness. Could it be the reason? I use "DHT oil" once a week to help the skin.

Thanks,Aiden.

Propylene glycol and Perfumer Alcohol??

I started off just making natural oil based perfumes so I could get the hang of essential oils. Now, I want to make a spray perfume but I'm confused on how to do it. I bought propylene glycol (food grade from amazon) but have no idea what I'm doing. From my understanding I'm meant to use it to dilute ingredients. I have cetalox which is white solid and galaxolide which is gooey. Ingredients like these should be diluted in the glycol I assume? But then what? Where does the alcohol come into this?

I am buying a scale to be accurate so feel free to give me numbers. Earlier I started with Mandy aftel drop method but want something new. Also for the packaging I have a few little spray bottles to but them in but keep reading stuff about an atomizer? What do I actually need to make a spray perfume. I need some clarity.

The second and third ingredients in my volumising shampoo are sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate. Are they really so bad? Also, is there anything wrong with propylene glycol?

After asking a lot of people, I have found a list of chemicals that are supposedly bad in shampoos. I am using L'OrΓ©al Paris Elvive Volume Filler Thickening Cleansing shampoo and I want to know if I should switch to something else. I have long, thin, fine hair, hence the "volumising/thickening" focus.

The second and third ingredients in my shampoo are sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate. But I have also heard that these ingredients are perfectly fine because they could do a good job of cleaning their hair. If I only use them once every three days or so, will they cause problems?

Also, is there anything wrong with propylene glycol?

Thank you!

Is PG (Propylene Glycol) harmful when used as a solvent for benzodiazepines or PCx's?

TL;DR
Is PG safe to consume?

I recently got interested in trying a benzo as some kind of landing gear after stim use. I was going to buy pellets/pills that are dosed at 3 mg of bromazolam. However, someone recommende that i buy powder instead so i can volumetricly dose. This person said pills from vendors are sometimes dosed significantly higher than advertised and said that a 1mg/ml solution would be a safer way of dosing.

I started researching how to make such a solution and found that benzo's and PCx's don't dissolve in water and that i should dissolve in alcohol or PG. When i started looking into PG i read conflicting things on it's safety profile. One vendor (A cosmetics company) said their PG was not meant for human consumption because it's toxic and causes cancer while another vendor (A vaping company of some sort) said it was not.

Would it be easier to just dissolve in alcohol (I have some 40% grain alcohol laying around) or would it be better to use PG mixed with water at a 1:9 ratio?

What are Topre domes made out of? PSA: Topre domes are made of EPT : Ethylene-Propylene-Terpolymer.

Let's get the sauce out of the way: Patent: US4584444A, Inventor: Takao Nagashima, Current Assignee: Topre Corp

Drawings, pg. 3 labels the rubber dome as #39, and somewhere in the body of the patent, you'll find:

>The rubber cap 39 is made of EPT (ethylene-propylene-terpolymer).

Why is this important? Well, I want to lube my HHKB up, and I'm going to experiment on a crappy, linear keyboard that I don't care about. I could honestly use the experience and lube anyways. The type of lubricant you use is important - something made out of the wrong stuff can eat through plastic, or eat through the domes themselves. You should probably just go with whatever the proper recommendation is.

If you ever decide to do your own thing with some lubricant that is not commonly used for mechs or specifically for Topre boards, check the MSDS, or in the case of a company like Super Lube, check their compatibility chart that they conveniently include on their website.

Here's an example of something you absolutely should not get anywhere near a keyboard. Any keyboard, not just a Topre board. I'm ignoring the usual "never use spray lube" rule for a second here to make a point.

3Mβ„’ Silicone Lubricant Dry Type PN-08897 - Well, why's that? The SDS looks fine, right?

>Contains no petroleum oils

Sweet, no petroleum oil, don't have to worry about rubber anymore, right? A look at the full MSDS tells a different story:

Ingredient C.A.S. No. % by Wt
Acetone 67-64-1 20 - 40

You generally don't want to get acetone anywhere near many different types of plastics and I'm not about to waste any more time than I have to figuring out what all the different plastic bits in a keeb, like the caps (ABS or PBT, at least that one is easy), the switch itself, etc. are made out of. The acetone is probably in there to make the remaining solvents evaporate and is why it's considered "dry" type.

For reference, there is a "wet" spray that does explicitly mention being safe on rubber and plastic, [3Mβ„’ Silicone Lubricant Wet Typ

DMT in propylene glycol

Hi guys. I wrote a post some time ago with a photo of my ccell palm. I made a 2:1 pg:dmt cart and it was a very weak mix, like Minty said, but i messed up doing it. In fact originally I wanted to make a 1:1 ratio, but I ended by adding some glycol due to inexperience (I had no idea about the high solubility in pg). However this was a fantastic experience, even if the hyperspace never became "consistent".

So i am going to do a new cart with new spice, as soon as the freeze precipitation end. Now my question is, since the cart is 1ml, can i mix, for exmaple, 0,8g dmt with 0,8ml pg? Shoul i be concerned about a significant volume increase?
