A list of puns related to "Mbbs"
About me: Current MBB Senior Manager / Associate Partner living on the east coast, been here for about 5.5 years. Focused on healthcare topics. Made SM / AP 1.5 years ago, pushing hard for Partner this year. But still intermittently interviewing for exits when something strikes my fancy to see what I'm worth and what's out there. Worked at ACN strategy for ~4 years before getting an MBA. Married with TWO young kids (one more since last time).
Two and four years ago, I wrote decent popular AMA posts about the differences between MBB and ACN. I'm back with some more experience under my belt (though probably much less insight into ACN at this point) and happy to answer any questions people have about consulting in general, work / life balance, managing COVID-19, the role I'm in, and anything else.
I'm attending H/W and was hoping to spend my summer in an MBB. I didn't make it after falling with all three firms. I have other consulting firms lined up but don't feel excited about them and feel like I wasted my chance of going into an elite firm and now might be stuck in mediocre ones. Besides my current university, I don't have anything golden on my resume, and my business background is limited.
Anybody from the top schools experienced the same last year/a a few years ago? Not sure what to do now so I can recruit again for these firms in the fall (I know, chances to get in are very low) - go to one of the tier 2 companies or try a different field - and how to cope with this situation (socially, in a school full of successful people, and professionally).

Would you say is it a good choice to do mbbs there and would it be worth it? Would there be good job opportunities after it? Or do you think Russia is better?

MBB summer internship recruiting just wrapped up at several schools. I am writing this to provide insights to curious folks about how the process works and advice for success.
TLDR: Student at M7 and got multiple offers from MBB (US offices, not NY/SF)

Hi all, I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. Is doing MBBS really worth it in terms of improving financially? Can you guys also comment on the career opportunities in the field like how easy it is to get a salaried job or at what age one might become stable in career, etc?
My friend is interested in this field but he is worried if his family's financial situation would improve and he is questioning how long it might take for him to provide for his family. He is currently about to finish his first year.
Thanks.
For my M7, seems like in the past 3 years McK has yield rate of around 90%, BCG has around 75-80% and Bain has around 70-75%. Curious what other schools see?
Inspired by the post here, in which management consulting was called out as a path to fatFIRE: https://www.reddit.com/r/fatFIRE/comments/r5a5qk/has_anyone_here_fatfired_after_starting_your/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Has anyone here fatFIRED after starting your career in at MBB? Whatβs your story - did you do it at MBB, or did you exit? What was your strategy?
Thanks all!
I got into medical college and now Iβm regretting it, MBbs fcps and so so much studying and working and youβre still be a novice by the time youβre 40.
Sorry if this post is really barebones Iβm kindda in a rush
From 2024, only those who have completed their MBBS from a medical college accredited by a body, which is recognised by WFME (World Federation for Medical Education), will be able to take the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination), the exam that is required to be taken to become a doctor in the United States. As of right now, the body which does the accreditation of the medical colleges in India, NMC (National Medical Commission) isn't recognised by WFME.
So, that's why if NMC isn't recognised by WFME before 2024, people who complete their MBBS from Indian medical colleges in or after 2024 will never be allowed to become doctors in the United States.
The bodies which do accreditation of medical colleges, that are recognised by WFME as of now:

I know the conventional advice is to not game the system and choose the location you want to live in. But realistically speaking (and hopefully from MBB insiders), how much more competitive is say McKinsey NYC (which is their flagship office) vs. a Tier 2 city such as McKinsey LA/DC/Boston?
I have been working at 1 MBB in southern Europe as a BA, and have found the salary to be very low.
Its not only that the BA salary are low but also the difference between BA salary and Associate salary is striking vs other countries. For context, a BA makes as a base salary 35K⬠vs Associate that make 90k⬠in Base (150% more) whilst in USA the difference in base would be something like 70-80%.
To be honest, I am a bit burnt about knowing I am not compensated well, when I could be having other jobs with much higher pays. I joined consulting instead of Banking because it seemed much more appealing but my friends are making 2-3 times what I make in supposedly one of the most prestigious firms and its a bit disappointing.
Our turnover has been increasing and I do not understand how this situation is not addressed. Specially, given that BAs are constantly receiving offers at +50% the pay and the base has not been adjusted in +15 years (even now with a +5% inflation)
Does anyone know why these differences are as high here? Is anyone aware if McK is going to raise salaries in Europe?
Since the GDT was never created, I wanted to use this until an official one is created. WPS!
I see that a lot of folks spend a couple years at MBB and move to business operations, specifically in tech firms like Slack/Spotify/Netflix. As a first year MBA trying to assess career options 5 - 10 years down the lane, I wanted to understand the rationale behind this move. Is this a strategy role and does it fast track / help one become an executive? Also, is there a path other than business operations that puts you on the executive track?
My first two years at Harvard, I was really focused on getting a good offer once I graduated. I think Harvard really acculturated me to the idea that one of those offers is one of the big goals of undergrad.
This summer, I got a full time offer from one of the big three consulting firms, for way more money than I thought, around $140k in total comp.
When I read the offer letter, I felt deeply ambivalent. Obviously I am stoked, and really want to work at the firm. However, it feels weird to make many times more my friends who are graduating from great non-ivyβs and more than my parents, who both make six figures.
For those of you who have received similar offers, how do you feel about salary? And for those who have already graduated, how has your thinking evolved?
I am currently in 9th and it was my plan to do MBBS in India and rest of the studies abroad and then also get a job there . Can I do this ?
17M , +2 passed out.. Initially had great interest in being surgeon and shit ..Tara as time passed i started developing interest in the field of tech too (CS,automobile etc)
initially i wanted to pursue mbbs then usmle but after hearing about the sheer mental stress and effort and all the time required to master at the field I am kind of scared of getting into it .
"MBBS ma pass huna lagne mehenet aru kunai field ma lagayo bhane baru 100% success paincha ";The common feedback from seniors
so i just wanted the sub to shade some light into the Reality of MBBS field so that I can reach a conclusion.I just dont want to regret anything later
P.s : I can afford a DROP YEAR .. and Back up ko lagi : I was considering Bachelors in Computer engineering then a year of serious programming to strengthen my portfolio for front end and back end development

>The bottom line, however, is the 19th-ranked Cyclones continued their amazing start. The 47-37 victory against Jackson State at Hilton Coliseum not only kept Iowa State among the ranks of the unbeatens, but also made T.J. Otzelberger the first Cyclones coach to start his career 10-0.
How to apply for scholarship MBBS in China?
Please advise if you know
As a disclaimer, I started this job right before COVID so this may be a factor in my POV.
This job sucks. I came in as an analyst with half a year of post grad experience in engineering (plus 12 months of internship). I swear I was feeling more fulfilled doing CAD designs as an intern than I have in 2 years here. The work is varied but it all feels so dull.
Iβm so happy I skipped seeing friends and family so I could make another slide for the backup. Iβll definitely cherish those memories in the future.
I got promoted In my first year and have only gotten good reviews so Iβm doing βwellβ but I feel like Iβm doing nothing. I donβt produce anything. I donβt create anything of real value. If we (strategy consultants) all disappeared tomorrow, the world would be fine (after a small adjustment period).
I donβt want to tell anyone to avoid management consulting, but spend some time considering why youβre choosing this career path. I chose it for the wrong reasons. I left a job were I was extremely fulfilled to get a name on my resume.
Sorry for the rant. I needed this off my chest.
