… on the banks of the Columbia River in Washington State, the Columbia River tribes threw a huge conniption fit about the subsequent seizure and study of the bones by the Army Corps of Engineers. Scientists said this was a remarkable discovery —-> 8,000 to 9,000 year old skeleton that was obviously Polynesian or Southeast Asian in character, exempting it from the Native Americans Graves and Repatriation Act. Had a spear point partially healed over in the hip bone.

Cut to the chase, a 2013 DNA study showed the tribes were correct. Kennewick Man was most closely related to the Colville tribe (the bones were found on what had been Colville tribal territory) and not “caucasoid” as the scientist had claimed.

The bones were returned to the tribes and buried in 2017. That’s all they wanted to do for the past 21 years. Respectfully bury their ancestor’s bones. Handling them and studying them was sacrilege to them.

Or so they said. I thought “this is such bullshit, they just want to fuck with scientists and whitey”. And then…

Two years ago a friend with ranch land in eastern Oregon found a human skeleton exposed about 5 feet deep along a creek bank where a recent gully washer had made a new cut in the bank. He called the State police and they came and investigated, determining it was a couple hundred years old and Native American. Probably a 12 year old girl. Since this was obviously not a crime scene that involved the police they didn’t do DNA or forensic testing. They did help facilitate contact with the tribes. This had been the lands of the Modoc and Paiute tribes so elders of both tribes were summoned to investigate. My friend was there along with the state trooper who told him “DO NOT show them your phone pictures of the bones or ESPECIALLY the ones of you handling them, dumb shit”. The examination was a solemn affair. The bones were not touched. They used twigs to scratch around the in situ remains. My friend agreed to have the bones buried elsewhere on his property. A ceremony was held by a group of Modocs and Paiutes. The new grave was then dragged and dusted over, leaving no trace.

The elders were’t fucking with whitey or hindering forensic science after all. This is really how they roll. Their ancestors aren’t to be boxed up and FedEx’d to the Smithsonian and put in a drawer. Or in a case at the local museum. They take their multi-thousand year old (unwritten) history seriously and venerate stuff that my friend would have originally liked to

A patrol cart shut down eastbound traffic on Clearwater from the roundabout at Ridgeline, and the Kadlec walk-in clinic was allegedly locked down. There's quite a few patrol cars as well as news media in the area. Does anyone know what's happening?

I'm driving home a few minutes ago when I see a man walking down the sidewalk with no clothes at all, not even shoes. He was just strolling along like he didn't have a care in the world, apparently oblivious to the fact that he was letting it all hang out. WTF did I just witness. I guess it shouldn't really be that weird but I'm in disbelief. First time I've ever seen something like that.

For about the second time in a week, there was an extremely loud explosion sound. I live in Kennewick somewhat near Fred Meyer for a reference point. I would say maybe on the scale of city fireworks displays type of loud. Anybody know what’s going on?

“KENNEWICK, Wash. — In 2003, a small girl named Sofia Juarez went missing near her home in Kennewick. She wasn’t recovered and her whereabouts are unknown, but local police never gave up on finding Sofia. Their most recent effort, a website dedicated to finding Sofia, received strong support from the community.

Since creating the website, the KPD has received over 75 tips from community members including one crucial piece of information that may be the catalyst in finding Juarez. Someone described as a “highly credible witness” allegedly observed a female matching Sofia’s description walking on the sidewalk at S. Washington St. near E. 15th Ave on the day of her disappearance in 2003.

This witnesses’ account fits the description of the time and location of Sofia’s disappearance. Kennewick police say that the witness saw a young girl crying as she was led away from the area.

Officers are asking for info regarding a van that was parked on a side street in the area of Sofia’s disappearance. The vehicle was described as a full-sized panel van with no side windows; similar to the type of van used by painters and contractors. It was either light blue or silver and authorities believe it was manufactured in the 1970s or 80s.

The KPD has a high degree of interest in the van and is actively seeking information from anyone who saw a van in the area of S. Washington Street near E. 15th Avenue between 8:00 pm and 9:15 pm on February 4, 2003. They’re also looking for more information from anyone with a similar van or who lived near the area.

Additionally, Kennewick investigators are looking into a viral TikTok video in which a young woman in Mexico claims that she may have been kidnapped at a young age and doesn’t know how old she is.
