A list of puns related to "Indie Band"
first of all, hi! I'm just looking for some different bands to add in my spotify's playlist. I'm very into indie pop, like The 1975 and Coin, but I wanna try new vibes too!
At some point I found a band I liked and had their stuff on Spotify. But I've lost access to that account and now my old brain can't remember the name of the band at all. I feel like they might have changed their name after their second/third album? For some reason Bisou or something French feels right to me, but searching that hasn't helped at all. Thanks for your help!
If I like it and you send me codes I'll follow and review!
2020 was going to be a big year for us as artists. We had a bunch of showcases during SXSW planned, a national tour in the works, and new music we were stoked to release. Then there was this public health emergency you may have heard about called COVID-19 that made all of that moot. It took us months to regroup and adjust to the new circumstances. Weโre a fully independent band (no manager, no label, no agent, no nothing) and this past year has basically been the apocalypse for independent artists everywhere.
In October, we decided weโd give live-streaming on RPAN a try. Since then our Spotify followers have exploded, someone made us our very own subreddit (/r/subradio), and our streams have been seen by more than 5 million of you. Weโre here to answer any questions you might have about being an independent artist, the music industry, or quite literally anything else, weโre not shy. Letโs do this!

EDIT: This is a blast!! Thanks for all the questions -- we've answered a bunch and will be checking back later today to answer a few more.
she is currently doing fine as main vocal for an idol group for me. but imagine her as a vocalist for an indie band, that would be epic. i am nowhere wishing for blackpink to end, but if they do in the future, i hope she forms her own indie band because i know her passion for singing is always there.
if it's not too late, i hope yg send her to the Mdromeda show where she can perform her solos with the live band.
Hi There,
My name's Jacob, I'm 24, and I'm in an indie rock band called Vacant Space.
We're located near the Creditiview-Britannia intersection.
Our ex-bassist recently left because he wasn't as interested in just playing bass anymore and joined another band as a vocalist. Now we're looking for someone that genuinely likes our sound and is located relatively close to us (around the GTA).
Below is a link to a self-titled EP we released early last year:

Please let me know if you are interested/have any questions!

Dallas indie rock band LEARNING NAMES are looking for a violin player to join the band. We're an extremely ambitious group of people who are looking for a new member. We rehearse 3 times per week, and now that we're vaccinated, we're gearing up to book shows around the country. Please get in touch if you'd be interested in learning more - we'd love to hear from you! You can hear our debut single here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO00r8kHPYw - Thank you!
It's either that, or it was the record that was called that, or even a song.
The music was very folk-y and quite somber, piano and acoustic guitar mainly and maybe some other classical instruments.
The cover had a picture of a woman with red or blonde hair standing against a pale green background, I think.
I've tried searching on spotify, in my last.fm library and on Google.
Ja.
Hey guys Iโve been trying to find a music video/song I havenโt heard in ages. Hereโs what I remember:
-either late 90s or early 00s -music video is in a white room most of the time/maybe a shipping container?
Not much to go on but maybe someone remembers!
Just seems like a lot of the bands i come into contact speak english even if they are from countries that have their own language so just wondering about any that don't speak english. I know a few Japanese bands that sing similar genres, but thats only language ive really heard. Especially wondering about french because i have learned it and want more practice in listening, or Indonesian because i want to try learning that language soon, but any language at all is cool with me.
Its a one gal (17) team at the moment. BIPOC welcomed. Like very. Age range preferably around 17-18.
I recently got a e-guitar but am a singer/songwriter.
Bassists, keyboardists, and drummers are people who would fit w/ what is going on atm
punk/rock/pop/ indie are the genres that we generally play but always open to messing around with other genres to get funky with (Folk,Rnb,Country etc.)
musician friends to jam and make music is the main goal.
If none of the above applies to you, but youโd still want to start a project, feel free to still dm me.
Edit: vaccinated & located in the TC
Calling all musicians! My name is Lesley, I'm 22 but I've been writing and recording music for the past 10 years. My main project is a band called Wolf Circus, through which I've released three albums so far. Until lockdown, I used to gig a fair bit, including some notable festival gigs. During the pandemic, I even got the chance to open for Sweet Trip with an online DJ set!
Now that gigs are becoming available again, I'd love to get back into the swing of things and find some new like-minded potential bandmates. I'm super influenced by 60's pop, 90's indie rock and electronic music. The sound I'd like to go for with this new line-up is like 60's Pink Floyd being covered by the Ronettes.
I'm seeking any kind of musician - drummers, bassists, guitarists, keyboardists, etc. - and if you also sing and/or write songs that's a plus, but not mandatory! Ideally, every member of the band should be between the ages of 18 and 30, and vaccinated. Also, this is by no means a must, but if you happen to also be part of the LGBT community, well, that'd be super rad!
If you're interested in joining the band, please e-mail me with your name, age, favorite artists and an audio or video clip of your playing or singing! Once we get some kind of line-up going, we'll start rehearsing (I have a fairly nice space for rehearsing but if you have a rehearsal space too that'd be a huge plus) and then eventually start gigging around the LA/Ventura area. And if things go really well, we can record the next Wolf Circus album together!
Well, I was 'till some time ago heavily agains't "lo-fi" quality songs. I always thought like "Noise in music is kinda bad, this indie bands that are trying to emulate the low quality home recorder sounds are just f*ckin' up their sound", but it happened that now I find it very very cool and charming. I love songs with cracklings and muffled/low quality tracks from the 80's that sound indie and alternative.
How can I record here at home or edit on post-production the songs I'll record to sound like that? Very amateurs and indie, still alternative and powerfull, with white noise and "cold". Some examples:
The Field Mice - Sensitive (https://youtu.be/E4D6v71_nx0) and If You Need Someone (https://youtu.be/ngpQZB08zJo)
On a Friday (Now known as Radiohead) - Happy Song (https://youtu.be/RE8D7d9P5lU) and Sinking Ship (https://youtu.be/ZS2D9QQzDZ0)
The Bats - Made Up In Blue (https://youtu.be/JHL3eHBlGA4)
The most mysteryous song on internet (https://youtu.be/_MMBImhlu74)
I have here at home some mics (a Behringer C-1 and a ripoff of a Shure SM57, and a U-Phoria UMC22 USB Audio Interface), altought I record the majority of my songs with my headset mic because I don't have a clue on how to setup my audio interface the right way and mine I bought broken probably, since it gives me lot's of errors and it has volume issues. So whenever I wanna record some things I need to go to our band's guitarist home.
It's not exactly the sound like this modern indie bands that lower the quality of the mics and distort guitar and stuff, but not also only that Smiths/R.E.M. sound. It's that old vintage sound, alternative raw post-punk homemade, confidential and low quality from genres like Dunedin Sound, Jangle Pop, Indie, Twee Pop, Alternative Rock, C83... Well, you got it
How can I replicate that sound? Not only by digital post-production manipulation and plugins, but also with mic techniques and stuff?
Epitaph Records was created in 1980 by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz for his bands releases. Epitaph Records was named after the King Crimson song โEpitaphโ. During the 80โs Epitaph would release albums by Bad Religion, The Vandals, L7, & NOFX. In the 90โs Epitaph released albums for Pennywise, The Offspring, & Rancid. The 2000โs Post Hard-core groups such as Escape The Fate & Thursday. The 2010โs groups such as Weezer, Social Distortion, Joyce Manor, & Touche Amore.
Independent record labels associated with Epitaph Records:
Hellcat Records established in 1997 by Tim Armstrong of Rancid. Hellcat specializes in Oi!, Harcore Punk, Psychobilly, & Ska Punk. See releases by Rancid, Choking Victim, Dropkick Murpheys, Leftover Crack, Tiger Army, & Many more.
Anti- Records established in 1999 has been more diverse in the bands it has signed. Including Country, Hip-Hop, Reaggae, Soul, Post-Metal, & Indie Rock to its roster. Iโve noticed Anti- has a knack for picking up highly talented artist that hover around the edge of Pop music and are either underappreciated of ignored by the bigger labels. Examples of this is Anti- releases by Booker T., Kate Bush, Nick Cave, Roky Erikson, Merle Haggard, Bob Mould, Mavis Staples, Tom Waits, Deaf Heaven, Iggy Pop, & The Dream Syndicate. Anti-โs slogan is โReal Artists Creating Records On Their Own termsโ.
Fat Possum Records founded 1992 in Oxford, Mississipi initially as a Blues label releasing albums by Junior Kimbrougj, R.L. Burnside, Cedell Davis, & Robert Cage. They eventually evolved past pure blues releasing albums by The Black Keys, Dinosaur Jr., Wavves, Andrew Bird, Youth Lagoon (Trevor Powers), Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Twin Peaks, & Soccer Mommy. Fat Possum has also taken on the task of distrubuting Hi Records wich specialized in Soul music and had done many Al Green releases.
Burning Heart Records was founded in Sweden during 1993 and releases more non American groups such as The Hives, Floggy Molly, & Parkway Drive. Heart And Skull Records was formed by Alkaline Trio in 2010 for their releases. Fat Mike of NOFX, one of the first groups on Epitaph, created his own label in 1990 Fat Wreck Chords.
The DIY approach to music had spawned countless Independent lables that transend musical genres and make sure there always a place for indie music to be released.
It's doing my head in. Fruitless searching of lyrics and Phantom FM related key words have now made it a minor obsession.
I'm hoping r/ireland can do me a solid and put me out of my misery.
Where did I hear it? On Phantom FM back in its prime. When they had the 'Two Petes talk rubbish' era.
What clues do we have? I can sort of remember the lyrics from the first line and some of the chorus. Im sure its an Irish indie/rock band. Thats it.
Well what the fuck are the lyrics?
First Verse: "When I, I was only ten, my father told me then That life is only what you make it"
Chorus: "Give up your day job, go buy yourself a caravan.."
Whoever solves it gets a pint when the pubs open.
Edit: u/spooneman1 saved the day! Blotooth - Dayjob was the one!
r/ireland nailed it in less than an hour. Weekend made.
