RF-4E with drop tanks and Bomb Pylons
Why Germany Should Have the RF-4E Late Added to War Thunder
It is extremely evident that Germany, one of the big three nations in game is lacking in their top tier air tech tree, and with the migs being alright, and the F4F Late being one of the more weaker phantoms of its br until it gets Aim 9L, German pilots are in a bit of a sticky situation, while also lacking any new strike fighters and bombers since the F84 (which people don't use due to its poor performance), and the IL-28.
Now I do believe gaijin is working on solutions to improving Germanys top tier line up, but we wont be able to get the full capability's of the F4F Late for a while as Aim 9L right now would dominate the meta, and we for sure wont get the ICE until other countries and equip the Aim 120's as well or their equivalent, and with the situation involving the Panavia Tornado, Germany is left without many options for a top tier strike fighter/bomber with only really the SU-22M4 and Mig-23BN
So I propose the introduction the of RF-4E Late for the German tech tree to help bolster Germanys strike fighters or bomber line in the tech tree as well as provide an unique aircraft into the German tech tree that although fits a specific role, excels at said role.Β Thanks to the aircrafts ability to carry up to 2200kg of conventional bombs, and ability to carry up to six British made Hunting BL-755 cluster bombs if gaijin feels its right to implement the cluster bombers however I don't think they would fit war thunder all that well, regardless of if it gets clusters or not it would still make an amazing ground attack aircraft, however with the fact it lacks any internal cannon, and is unable to carry gun pods and or air to air missiles, this aircraft will solely be used as a ground attacker.
However it could have the unique ability to mark enemy targets by looking through the camera view like you would a bomb sight, allowing the pilot to mark enemy tanks on the ground like they would in a light tank, giving the aircraft a even more useful s
... keep reading on reddit β‘Using all the perks which add more strike aircraft and fighters: 'Air Supremacy', 'Direction Center for Fighters', 'Patrol Group Leader'. And also assuming that both bomber squadrons start their restock rate at the start of a battle lasting 20 minutes (which isnt realistic but whatever).
Bombers: 16 + 1200 / (65 x 0,95) = 35.
Skip Bombers: 16 + 1200 / (65 x 0,95) = 35.
From the patrol fighters: (8 + 1) x 8 + (8 + 1) x 8 = 144.
From the catapult fighters: 6 x (8 + 1) = 54.
Total = 268.
According to Wikipedia she only carriered 32 irl, so thats over 8 times more. Lol.
Thats enough btw to feed 7 opponents a 'Clear Sky' award with planes left over. So for all you BΓ©arn captains out there, please be generous ;)
this can be any fighter - heavy, interceptor, jet, prop, biplane or other.
My personal vote goes to the CR.714. It's unagile, has poor energy retention, doesn't climb to save its life, has horrible survivability and loves to run hot. Its only benefits are highish top speeds that can occasionally beat other very early monoplanes when in a higher energy state which it will almost never be, and an average armament.
How viable is an airbase concept where VTOL aircraft would take off and land vertically through doors on the ground?
Pros:
Hardened underground shelters are resilient against most conventional attacks and weather events.
Difficult for enemy spy satellites to estimate the number of VTOL aircraft stationed in the underground facilities. (The aircraft:doors ratio would not be 1:1, more like 8:1)
Surface runways can be used for other aircraft and enable a greater sortie rate when combined with the doors.
Cons:
More expensive to build than conventional above ground hangars
An underground network of pistes would require proper ventilation to the surface to avoid mold.
Vulnerable to flooding if it rains. Would require tight seals on the doors, and drains in case water seeps through.
During the Cold War, US carriers would employ numerous types of aircraft on their decks; for fleet air defence and interception, to submarine hunting, and for ground and naval strike. With the introduction of the Hornet, most of these roles were now the responsibility of one type of jet. Did the FA-18's multirole capability simplify carrier operations?
