A list of puns related to "Electroweak Interaction"
I may be misunderstanding a lot of this, but during the phase of the early universe prior to symmetry breaking and the separation of the electromagnetic and weak interactions, was the interaction mediated by the W1 W2 W3 and B Bosons equivalent in function to its two successors or would the unified electroweak interaction have looked like something else entirely?
As a sort of addendum, and this may be too speculative to address, but if the unification of these forces was still present at current normal temps and densities (without moving say, the change in Higgs potential at 160 GeV), how different would the universe look and work?
If it is a new boson, then does that mean that a photon, W, or Z boson could transform into this new boson by gaining energy, and turn back into any of the 3--not necessarily the same as before--if it lost energy?
Can one of you guys please explain me how does the electroweak interaction work and in which way do electromagnetic and weak force interact?
I was reading the thread on the strong interaction and it got me wondering. Why do we say there are four forces: Gravitational, Electromagnetic, Weak, and Strong? Shouldn't it be Gravitational, Electroweak, and Strong?
This concept simply doesnβt make sense to me. The idea that they could be unified. How does that even make sense, and how would it manifest in the world at the time?
Can diamond anvils be made big enough to replace MRI/LINAC supermagnets with room temperature ones, eliminating the need for vacuum pumps/cryogenics?
Since there are different kinds of superconductivity, would some kinds have a better chance at creating a strong enough magnetic field that EM unifies with gravity? Or is it all the same since they all have 0 resistance anyways (so field is limited by power supply only???)
Thank you for your time :)
I have a basic understanding of the fundamental interactions on a subatomic level. I know the strong force binds quarks together within protons and neutrons, and by extension protons and neutrons together in atomic nuclei and that it stops working beyond that because its range is very small. I also know the electromagnetic force attracts or repulses particles based on whether they're positively or negatively charged. This seems fairly intuitive and easy to imagine.
But I can't really picture what the weak force does. I know it's involved in radioactive beta decay and that it can be unified with the electromagnetic force to produce the electroweak force, but I can't visualize what it actually does. Does it repulse, unbind or does what exactly?
Thanks
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
>"As above, so below; as below, so above; as within, so without; as without, so within", "Correspondence", the second of The Seven Principles of Hermes Trismegistus
The system of philosophy based on the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus became known as Hermeticism; these ideas became prominent during the Renaissance & Reformation periods of history. Once it was realized that the Egyptian god Thoth & the Greek god Hermes were the same being, he then began being referred to as Hermes Trismegistus. The written works of Hermeticism were created over many centuries, from 300 B.C to 1200 A.D.
In Hermetic philosophy there is the microcosm, the word of the individual, and the macrocosm, which is the universe, or the sum total of all that is. The word macrocosm comes from Greek makros kosmos, βthe great worldβ; the universe as a whole. Microcosm comes from Greek mikros kosmos, βthe small worldβ; the human being (understood as a miniature universe). In other words, the phrase can be interpreted to say that βAboveβ is referring to nature and the cosmos, and the βBelowβ part refers to what happens inside of us as humans, or our personal subjective experience of being alive. The microcosm β macrocosm relationship is wonderfully described in the following quote:
>βTo truly know the world, look deeply within your own being, To truly know yourself, take real interest in the world.β ~ Rudolf Steiner
This relational dynamic can be seen anywhere there is duality, where one half is above, and the other below, and there is an established relationship between the two. This is the same duality that the very physicists I have discussed previously in this post and in my previous discussions describe (Discussion 1, Discussion 2, & Discussion 3), which explains how our classical world (in physics) can stem from a subatomic quantum world.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?

So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
