A list of puns related to "Crossbows"
Several options pop out at me. One is arguing that she's already pretty so the Tumblr can't "make" her look pretty. The other is to have the 'bow' be a crossbow, "Pun's favorite kind of bow."
Am I the only one that feels Crossbow Expert was made with the intent to allow offhand attacks with a hand crossbow, but it kind of morphed into something else, which was not the intent of the feat?
We've seen the images and the miniatures. A swashbuckler with a scimitar or rapier in one hand and a hand crossbow in the other. A dwarf, or gnome, or halfling with shortsword and hand crossbow. Its a cool image and DnD needed rules to allow that to happen. Base two weapon fighting rules don't allow you to get the offhand attack with a ranged weapon. And ranged weapons in melee range have disadvantage. There's also the problem of loading a crossbow while holding a sword in your other hand. But the image was too cool, and people wanted their sword and hand crossbow characters.
Enter the crossbow expert feat.
I feel that Crossbow Expert was written specifically to allow players to walk into melee with a sword in one hand and a hand crossbow in the other. But through the rules as written, it was quickly seized by players to do something else (fire hand crossbows more times in a round than any other ranged weapon), and once that cat was out of the bag, there was not putting it back in. I believe they made the rule, which did something so obviously stupid, (allow you to load a crossbow with one hand), that rather than admit this glaring oversight, they doubled down and let the repeating crossbow effect occur.
Lets examine the reasons why I think this. First the wording of Crossbow Expert :
- You ignore the loading quality of crossbows with which you are proficient.
- Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesnβt impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls.
- When you use the Attack action and attack with a one handed weapon, you can use a bonus action to attack with a hand crossbow you are holding.
If you read these rules in reverse order, they establish what the rules are for (get a bonus action attack with a hand crossbow in the off hand when you attack with a one handed weapon in the primary hand). But since using ranged weapons in melee has disadvantage, they had to eliminate the disadvantage of using the hand crossbow in close quarters. Then, since you can't load a crossbow if you have it in one hand and a sword in the other, they removed the "loading" condition. This interpretation of these rules makes the swashbuckling/hand crossbow wielding combatant feasible. This is ultimately what I believe the intent of the
... keep reading on reddit β‘As we all know Jagex is going to be nerfing the toxic blowpipe it's inevitable it's sad to see but it's necessary for the health of the game in the long run. From what we know already Jagex is looking into buffing crystal equipment as an attempt to bridge the gap between lower level gear & the blowpipe along with having something to use when accuracy is extremely important. Which I believe is a step in the right direction. However I think Jagex is making a mistake in over looking one Old Schools most icon weapons, Karil's Crossbow.
As it is the Karils Crossbow is laughably bad due to being ignored for years by power creep aside from being greatly overshadowed by it's level 75 counter the Toxic Blowpipe which is reasonable I mean after it's a higher level weapon, I mean it only makes sense that higher level gear is stronger. What saddens me greatly is the fact that it's even overshadowed by it's level 50 counterpart the Magic Shortbow (I) in almost every single situation. Here are a couple examples.
Hi! I would like to share my creation called "Crossbow Crusade", a pixel art game about a monster hunter who is trying to survive in a Dead Kingdom. Our lyrical hero obeys the principle: "Evil spirits must be wiped off the face of the earth." In a shabby old raincoat and with a crossbow, the protagonist hunts ghouls, vampires and other monsters that have gone wild from the taste of human flesh! So if you liked the game, please add it to your wish list! It took me about a year of continuous work on this game, and it came out decent for me, didn't it? I want to introduce you to my creation and play 10 keys among the commenters of this post. (Write any opinion about this game) On May 15, I will choose a random 10 people, I hope you like it
Yep. I really need it to be fixed. Thanks.
I just started a new character, and the idea is, someone who always lived in the woods, going to the city only occasionally, for his whole life he hunted animals for food in the woods with bows and crossbows.
Now in my 12th day I look at the ranged weapons only to see that bows are stupidly weak, weaker than a sling?
I'm lost in the woods so the best bow I can do is the longbow, and realistically the only arrow I can make is the crude wooden arrow, both would be something like 4,5 damage.
the sling on the other hand, 17 damage? throwing fucking rocks at the target.
now, the precise shot of the bow says 4 tiles?????
so, I have to shoot a slavering coyote 15 times, 4 tiles distance? with a fucking bow in my hand? I'd be better smashing the beast with a plastic bag.
now for the sling, I can shoot precisely at 17 tiles, for 17 damage.
when I was creating the world, I decided not to use the mod "make bows great again" because I thought, "naah, this will make bows too overpowered", wrong choice I made?
Am I missing something because honestly, stupidly low damage, stupidly low range.
I'm fine abandoning bows and going only crossbows but for now my character has no means to get a crossbow.
should I create another world with "make bows great again" activated and re-start the character? are bows only endgame material? even throwing sticks seems more appealing
