Hey all! I’m new to the community, and as such have very little experience. I found these (likely) puffballs while foraging in central WA state. They were growing on a fallen coniferous tree. Any ideas? I think they are Stump Puffballs, but I’m not sure. Thanks for your help!

yew noun a coniferous tree which has red berrylike fruits, and most parts of which are highly poisonous. Yews are linked with folklore and superstition and can live to a great age; the timber is used in cabinetmaking and (formerly) to make longbows.

What small coniferous tree will give the highest yeild of edible nuts?

I live in Long Island and want a tree that fits in my front yard, so the root system would preferably have a radius below 10 feet and the tree wouldn’t be tall enough to wreck the house if it gets blown down.

I was thinking Korean pine. Any suggestions?
