A list of puns related to "Cacao Plantation"
[Just going to post this over quick. I want to move on to other information soonish.]
This research was initially prompted by seeing the former Chair, Joint Chiefs of Staff, having given up his lucrative positions on the boards of GM and Sprint, not only working for a not-often-discussed investment company but chairing the board of comparatively rinky-dink little Precinmac. As it turned out, that was the first step on what became a long walk.
1/
ADM Mike Mullen chairs the board of Precinmac. Precinmac is a defense-focused hi-spec parts and components machining company.
Pine Island acquired Precinmac on 1 APR 2020 with two other partners: Bain Capital and Compass Partners. Bain is Mitt Romney's twelve-digit AUM cash firehose. Compass Capital is the product of founder Stephen M. Waters. He has interesting connections to what we see in Pine Island.
Compass Capital's only other major holding is Nautilus Integrated Solutions, a defense-focused hi-spec parts and components machining company. Compass chose VADM John Morgan as President and CEO of NIS. Look them up and Waters and Morgan were directors at the U.S. Naval Institute together c. 2011.
Go further back and Mullen and Morgan were CNO and Deputy CNO together c. 2007. They published the Navy's current strategy "A Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower" that year.
Now Mullen and Morgan are each boss of a defense manufacturer owned in whole or in part by Compass Capital.
This is the primary loop in Pine Island.

Mike Mullen graduated the Naval Academy in 1968. MajGen Charles Bolden, a Pine Island partner, is a classmate of the same graduating year.
LtGen Vincent Stewart was Director of the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity for most of the time Mike Mullen was Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. MCIA is an hour down the highway from the Pentagon in Quantico, VA.
Gen Lloyd Austin, a former Pine Island partner, was made Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2009-2010. Mike Mullen appointed him. "Austin credited the appointment as having jumpstarted his later career, saying: 'People who might not have known Lloyd Austin began to know him.'" [Wikipedia]. Austin is on the board of directors of RTX. So is David Wajsgras, a Pine Island partner.
All the retired flag officers we see, or will see, connected with Pine Island were in the Department of the Navy

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
First of all, never upgrade "all at once". Not only do the buildings loose all workers and need to hire them again (and they need higher education now). But you also will create a sudden wave of unemployed people (and suddenly need a lot energy)
Second, you will suddenly have a lot free space. Likely you will move the buildings around afterwards instead of filling the holes with new buildings. So read this here. Moving a farm/plantation is CHEAPER than a hydroculture (HC cost twice as much. 1.000 instead 500).
Since upgrading buildings is more expensive than building them new, this can save you a solid amount of cash. ($4000 new, $1500+$3500 for an upgrade) Also keep in mind that some but not all upgrades are taken over "in the next generation". The 30% bonus (cacao) for example will be taken over. I think all "stage 1" upgrades are taken over, so calculate that in. If your farms etc. are upgraded, do some math in your head if it's smarter to upgrade. Or to delete and rebuild.
To sum it up, upgrading buildings. Farms or houses, it's not relevant what kind of building we talk about, is always more expensive. But skips the building phase + overtakes a lot upgrades. Upgrading "not upgraded" buildings though isn't a good move, it's a waste of cash. Also moving "old" buildings is cheaper than moving newer (modern) ones

>Most of the cacao left will be taken in the upcoming voyage, so that it can be attempted to be planted in Castile's colonial lands.

>On the island, efforts to grow cacao finally bear fruit, and a harvest is expected starting in 2 years.

From the diary of Comendador Frey Nicolรกs de Ovando y Cรกceres
Around the New World Spain explores and reaches for the wealth of what is possible, and nothing holds more promise than cacao. Plantations all over Hispaniola have been seeded with cacao for the past two years and now is the season of their harvest. The wealth of the New World realised for Queen Juana and King Philip of Espana. Today we have plucked from the cacao trees and harvested that wealth, and now send it back to Espana to be dispersed through the markets of Europe. Hispaniola gives back to Espana as Espana has given to Hispaniola.
Cacao grows best it seems in light shadow, with taller plants to provide a canopy of protection. It has oblong leathery leaves that can reach up to a hand a half in length. These wither occasionally, and are replaced by a violently red sapling. The flower of the cacao plant shows itself twice a year in great abundance but are else present eternal. They smell like the arse end of a Irishman, or else like a Muscovites breath. Growing in clusters from the stem and branch, they are coloured in papal white, rose, yellow or else scarlet. This aggravating dichotomy is only tipped into heinous devil's kiss by the ever present flies that linger for the aforementioned scent; they are a cursed plague and I would flay my own skin off to never have to witness one ever again.
Each cacao plant can yield it seems some 70 pods annually from here on they tell me. The pods are coloured either yellow or purple and are the same length, perhaps slightly larger than the leaf with a width that would make for a fine bludgeon or gift for a woman. These pods contain some 20 to 60 seeds. The seeds themselves are covered in a sweet but thick white substance that most men would not be unfamiliar with save a eunuch from Cathay. This plant is temperamental and it

> A Peruvian cacao company that sued a Mongabay Latam writer for reporting on its deforestation in the Amazon has also targeted others in what lawyers said appears to be a pattern of intimidation.
> Tamshi, formerly Cacao del Perú Norte SAC, had its lawsuit against Mongabay Latam's Yvette Sierra Praeli thrown out by a court in November.
> In November 2020, Peruvian cacao company Tamshi filed a lawsuit against Mongabay Latam staff reporter Yvette Sierra Praeli for "Aggravated defamation" over her reporting of a government investigation into the firm's activities in the Peruvian Amazon.
> Beyond this lawsuit, Tamshi has engaged in what appears to be a pattern of legal intimidation against those reporting on or investigating their forest-clearing activities in Peru.
> Through financial disclosures and in public statements by United Cacao's former CEO, Dennis Melka, the company claimed that nothing resembling forest remained by the time the company had purchased the land where the Tamshi plantations were established in 2013.
> In the lawsuit, Tamshi added that the statements against them affected the image of the company in the national and international markets, public opinion, banks, its creditors and Peruvian society, "And that it affects 2,500 people who depend economically on Tamshi S.A.C.".

Ants donโt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Skittles are better than M&Mโs in a variety of ways. Skittles as a candy are more hardy and rugged than your average M&M. Have you ever gone camping and brought along trail mix that is said to include โM&Mโsโ? You will soon find that throughout your long,ย arduous journey your M&Mโs will have broken and turned to a melted sticky mess built for ants. This is one of many faults that come with every purchase of M&Mโs.
On top of the obvious design flaws in their structural makeup, there comes the topic of where each company sources their ingredients for their various products. While the Wrigley Company, creator of Skittles, sources all of their natural ingredients straight from the rainbow, Nestle sources their โbeansโ for their chocolate on the backs of small communities and leafy cocoa plantations.
The Wrigley Company, proud owners of the Skittles brand, creates their product by going to a small beach in the tropics and on this beach they employ a man. This man is the only person capable of milking the rare rainbow eating giraffe to produce Skittles [2]. Through this process it is said you are able to โtaste the rainbowโ in every bite of their product.
Found Deep in the sub-Saharan African Republic of Cote dโIvoire โ the Ivory Coast โ is the cocoa-producing capital of the world. Every M&M has a beginning and this is where it starts. โThe beans extracted from cocoa pods, picked off by machete-wielding farmers before being fermented in a banana-leaf bed and dried out in a weeks-long process, are the Ivorian economyโs biggest resource and export.โ [1]. This is how cacao production is presented to the world but in actuality the cacao industry has a long and accepted history of practicing child labor and dangerous working conditions.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, as of today 2 million children are engaged in hazardous work on cocoa farms in Cote dโIvoire and Ghana with more than half reporting being injured by their work [3]. Due to the cocoa plant being a commodity crop in the region grown primarily for export; 60% of the Ivory Coastโs export revenue comes from cocoa production. This profitability drives production while also demanding ever cheaper labor. On average, cocoa farmers earn less than $2 per day. This leads to an increase to the use of child labor as a way to keep prices competitive. Often surrounded by intense poverty and the need to work young to provide for families these areas are rife with traffickers many

A Chronological History of the West African Religion, changed to fit a better ending
In 300 The Ghana Empire, sometimes also known as Awkar by Vodouni (๊๊ฃ๊ง๊ณ) was founded by the Soninke people based in the Capital City of Koumbi Saleh (๊ฉ๊ซ๊๊ฉ๊ณ ๊ณ๊ฐ๊๊ง๊ฉ๊)
At the time the Sahel or African Transition Zone, which was the zone betwixt the Sahara Desert and African Forests was very habitable. And thanks to a series of Rivers most specifically the Niger River (๊ ๊ง๊ถ๊ด) and River Senegal (๊๊ ๊จ๊ฉ ๊ซ) made the Sahel the perfect place for an Empire. The Ghana Empire originally only traded with neighboring African states until at some point in the 320s, Romans figured out how to domesticate Camels, which meant Ghana just got access to trade. It became very rich selling lots of gold and slaves.
In the 7th century Islam formed originally as the Kingdom of Mecca located in the Hejaz. In 620
By 640, Mecca now known as the Rashidun Caliphate conquered the entire Arabian Peninsula
By 650, they Conquered parts of the Caucasus, parts of Anatolia, Parts of Egypt, and Parts of Libya
By 660, the Caliphate conquered Persia.
By 670, The Caliphate became the Umayyad Dynasty and conquered the rest of Egypt, Libyan Coast, and Tunisia, as well as Cyprus.
By 710, the Umayyad conquered the Moroccan Coast and controlled the southern half of the Mediterranean.
Because of this trade with Ghana became less accessible, as to get through the Sahara Desert on land became more of a hassle,
By 720, the Umayyad was conquering deep into the Central Asian Steppe.
By 730, they conquered the Iberian peninsula.
By 760, the Umayyad became the Abbasid Dynasty and Iberia became the Emirate of Cรณrdoba, moving its capital from Damascus to Baghdad.
The Abbasid were much more lenient on the idea of slavery and competed with Ghana over trade.
In 780, the Tahert broke away from the Abbasids
In 790, the Idrisid broke away from the Abbasid.
By 840, The Abbasid controlled Crete.
By 850, Kanem (๊ข๊๊ ๊๊๊), northwest of the Lake Chad (๊ก๊๊ฎ๊ฏ ๊ธ๊๊), was formed and also began competing with Ghana.
Combined with Tuareg, Berber, and Guanches poaching Ghanaian goods delivered through the Desert, and outcry from the peasantry made Ghana weaker than it ever was. And prone to invasion
In 870, Egypt broke away from the Abbasids
In 890, the Abbasids reconquered the Tunisian peninsula, as well as Sicily, and had lost Crete as well as Cyprus.
In 910, the Abbasid lost land to the Samanids.
In 950, The Caliphate split i
