A list of puns related to "Any Given Sunday"
Guys we aren't even halfway done yet. Every game has been close besides one. It's Staley first year as a head coach the only reason we are being so dramatic is because we started off so well.got robbed by the cowboys. I just want people to remember the BUCS were 7-5 so let's relax and BELIEVE!
The purpose of our league is to keep it as real to the NFL as possible. We incorporate that into our gameplay as well as front office. An example would be having a trade committee because we try and keep franchise players on their perspective teams. Gameplay, we donβt allow plays that exploit AI and we do not allow spamming. All of us played football and have some sort of knowledge so we expect personnel matching on defense. Our strafe rule is the biggest thing. On defense if youβre not a D-lineman we expect the user to hold L2 when in zone. In man coverage youβre able to chase the man you are covering no problem. On defense we want you to hold L2 and move within your zone until the Ball is thrown or the QB leaves the pocket.
We would like users who are not try hards and are active in discord to chat daily in the general channel! We are looking to replace them with a person WHO WONT LEAVE AFTER A LOSS! Also people who will talk in the discord for more than just scheduling your game!

TOO BAD IT'S SATURDAY!!! LETS GO BOYS!!!
The sharks lost three in a row and lost with a back up quarterback. Just found it interesting.
Hi there,
Iβm an Italian dude on lockdown for weeks and nothing more serious to do; so, I went back watching some of my favorite movies and the one by Oliver Stone came by and I enjoyed it once more. Only problem is American football doesnβt mean anything for Italians, generally speaking: we donβt know the rules, we donβt know basically anything around it. But I watched the movie and at some point (no spoilers) Pacino, who impersonates a talented, experienced and brave coach, command the team a play codenamed βComancheβ, which is taken as a brazen, bold move by everybody. Would a gentlemen amongst you take 5 minutes of its time to explain to me why itβs such a βrisky and braveβ play?
Thank you so much in advance to anyone who will try to make me smile a bit in this difficult time.
EDIT: I woke up overwhelmed with detailed, kind explanations. Not that I can now call myself a football expert or anything, but you all gave me some insights to appreciate the movie even more (not only that scene). Thank you all very much for your kindness. Hope the best for you and your families in this tough time. Please, do self-isolate ASAP: we learnt it the hard way.
Is this guy for real? Take away his PP time and heβs hopefully 40 point player β Foligno has more shots than he does since heβs come back from injury. I donβt know what discussion heβs upset he hasnβt had about his playing time?
I truly believed Funchess (5.8 pts), Montgomery (5 pts), and Adams (6 pts) were going off this week. I even started Funchess over Fitz and Hogan (fuck me). It just goes to show how immersing yourself into stats and situations too much and starting low-ranked players over starters despite having a history of being ass (Funchess) doesnt pay out a lot. I also benched Howard because "hes injured and Long is back so Cohen will be a beast (so close)." Here are my shameful calls from this week. I was so confident.
> Starting Funchess because NO is worst against WR2 and with Olsen out and McCaffrey keeping the linebackers in check, Funchess is going to have plenty of inside route opportunities especially with his pretty good cushion separation and deep route potential. That said, Adams is another great option for similar reasons (CIN ranked 30th against WR2s) and Cobb is out. I think Ty Montgomery has a hell of a game but Adams will do phenomenally well too.
And again, > With Cobb out, Adams has game of his life against terrible CIN D vs. WR2s this season. Similarly, If newton plays, Funchess is top 10 wr this week because NO is even worse against WR2s.
The NFL is known as a league with parity between teams -- where no team is guaranteed a victory in any given game, no matter how bad their opponent is. I wanted to see how parity in the NFL has changed over time. In other words, is there more of a difference between good and bad teams now than there was in the past.
To calculate parity, I calculated the mean wins-above-.500 for the top 50% of the league in a year. A league with perfect parity (32 8-8 teams) would average 0. A league with perfect im-parity (16 16-0 teams and 16 0-16 teams) would average 8. I calculated each year as a percentage of perfect parity. The results are here and here - focused on non-strike years.
In short, parity in the NFL has increased since the advent of the Super Bowl Era, but has leveled out considerably since the mid-90s. Further, since 2008, there has been an almost perfectly unchanging ratio of good to mediocre to bad teams. I kind of wonder if we may have reached the natural equilibrium state of team quality in the NFL over the last decade.
Aside from the strike year, where parity plummeted to 22%, the least-even year was 1974, where winning teams averaged 3.2 wins above .500 (54% parity). The "Any-Given-Sunday" award for most even year was 1994, where winning teams averaged only 1.9 games above .500 (76% parity). For the last decade, winning teams have averaged 68% parity -- 2.55 games above .500 (std. dev. 0.07).
I was there last night and have had some time to reflect on what happened and time to read everyone's thoughts on the matter, and I think I have a different take. "Any Given Sunday" is a saying for a reason. In the NFL, any team can theoretically beat any other team on any given day. People want to blame the coaches, the dropped passes, the defense (lack of tackling), Ingram's injury, Mekari's play, or even Lamar. What if we just plain got beat?
Hear me out. Can we just be honest for a moment? If you were there, you HAD to feel it...I felt it. It just felt like a bad situation almost from the word "go". I fought that feeling and screamed my fool head off for our team until the clock went to zero. But I felt it. They just plain beat us in pretty much every phase of the game. If this were baseball, we'd have a few more chances to beat this team in a best of series and I'd like our chances. But football doesn't work that way. On THIS day they were the better team. That's it. I don't necessarily believe different play calling would have solved it. The Titans went in and executed their game plan pretty damn well. Props to them.
We'll be back next year, and I for one think we will learn from this loss. The better team doesn't always win, folks. The better team on THAT DAY usually does. We clearly have a few things we need to address in the offseason, I believe EDC and company WILL address them and we will come back even better next year. I have to believe that, I'm a Ravens fan!
TL;DR: No excuses, we just got beat yesterday. It happens. Congrats to Titans and let's get ready for next year!
Letβs say during the steroid era of the late 90βs early 2000βs or whatever you guys choose? Just an opinion so fire away guys...
In this league, no win is a guarantee. I don't care if the 0-16 lions played the 16-0 patriots. You just never know.
I'm terrified of the Bears game. We have a rookie head coach going up against a veteran coach that's hungry for a win. They have a streaky quarterback who is capable of playing very well. They have a decent defense that could give our struggling offense trouble.
This game is not a guarantee win, and quite frankly I'm very nervous.
