With the control of the Arabian Horse trade, it would be wrong for Portugal not to capitalize on these new fortunes. While there has been an a decent amount of Arabian horse blood in Europe since 1095, it is not nearly as common, and still highly regarded.
In order to try and maximize our gains from these resources, Portugal will be establishing two Crown-owned breeding programs that will be using the Arabian horses as our primary foundation bloodstock. One of the Royal Stud Farms will be built in Porto, and it will become our first state-run Arabian stud farm. While this stud farm will be of pure blood Arabian horses, we will allow private breeding programs to utilize these stud farms in order to experiment with the crossing of different local horses. The point of the Royal Stud Farm of Porto will be to maintain a stock of pure-blood Arabian horses. This can also be an avenue for European nations who do not wish to trade with the Ottomans in order to obtain the blood.
The other Royal Stud Farm will be founded in Cochin. With our shipbuilding investment in the city, and its distance away from the Muslims, we believe it is the perfect place to have another state-run Arabian stud farm. The goal here will be to breed war horses for use by the Portuguese as well as our allies in Vijayanagar. Assuming they do not have as much access to these types of horses given their ongoing issues with the Muslims in the North, this should give them access to the Arabian horses which could very well improve their military capabilities. While we will allow breeding with local Vijayanagar horse breeds, they must be done within Portuguese controlled Cochin on state-run stud farms. We will sell the horses to the Vijayanagar at the market rate, but giving them access to these horses and subsequent crossbreeds should be a huge bonus for them, and demonstrate our commitment to helping our allies.

I can’t have more than two types on animals in my game on PS5 because I don’t have enough space in my animal husbandries. I have 30 chicken and 15 cows and I can buy 14 out of 15 sheep but the game will crash, but I can never buy 15/15 sheep.
Hello all, I have been very interested in homesteading for a while. However, I am vegetarian & don’t feel comfortable with killing animals, or doing things that lead to the death of animals. However, I absolutely love animals, and would love to have them as part of my future homestead. Ive seen animals being used for eggs, milk, wool, and even labor such as plowing the land, this is what I would like to achieve. Here are my struggles on trying to figure out how to do this “ethical” farming (without losing money):
-Chickens. I first thought of chickens because you can get their eggs without killing them. However I have recently found out that chickens only produce eggs for 4/10 years of their life and am left wondering if the cost of giving them a good quality life would be greater than the cost of buying the eggs from a farmers market (free roam and whatnot)
-Cows. I originally thought cows could work, as you can get the milk from them without killing them. However then I realized that you would have to sell off their calves, and the males would probably be killed for meat and eaten eventually which I don’t really feel comfortable with either.
-Alpaca. As of right now, I have settled on alpaca, because their main export is their wool, and even if I bred them, the eating of alpacas is not common and I could feel comfortable knowing that selling the cria would not lead to their untimely deaths.
Anyone have anymore information or resources for this type of farm/homestead? I haven’t heard much about it. Thank you so much!
Anybody have any tips on how to reliably gather more seeds and animals?
I can't afford to buy them from my ferry port, I haven't seen one of the animal/gathering resource markers in years in game.
I placed my first market near those markers when I started and it was like the gatherers and hunters just ignored them.
So are there ideal placements for the hunting cabin? Should the gatherers hut be placed in a forest away from my main town? Is there a way to tell them to focus on specific things?
Playing on normal so I started with tomato seeds and no animals, managed to find geese and finally got alpaca but I'm limited to peas, tomatoes, flax, oats and agave.
So my mod was misbehaving and I couldn't figure out why - the Meat Friday and Living with Animals tv shows were appearing but I hadn't gotten the feeding basket in the post yet even after Marnie came along with my cat. After I got my chickens and I didn't get any letter telling me about the "meat wand" I decided something was probably up with the mod and I removed it and downloaded it new.
It's all working fine, and I've got my meat wand, so that's nice. Sadly I still don't have a feeding basket because I missed the first letter? Does anyone know of a way this might be fixed?
