Why did America Ferrera leave Superstore? I can't find a post where the reason stands why she left.
Why would you leave a show that was doing amazing and you were having one of the main roles?

The writers probably had a better, less rushed storyline of when Jonah and Amy would get together but then America got pregnant so they had to work that into the script. Jonah and Amy hadnβt got together yet so the only solution was to say it was Adamβs, kind of ruining the potential storyline of Jonah and Amy having a kid.

I imagine that similar to The Office, the writers were probably hoping for 8-9 seasons. The show probably would of continued if she had stayed on and we could have had 2-3 more seasons of one of the greatest sitcoms ever. But she decided to leave and now we only get one shortened season π₯²
Again just to reiterate this is not a dig at America or any of her decisions as I was a big fan of her in the show. Itβs just the cold hard truth
The real star of the show is the store itself. As long as they have a strong writing team I don't think any specific cast member is integral to the show. Retail is notorious for the high turnover in real life so I don't see why they couldn't continue indefinitely with the cast turning over.
In the UK there was a series called Trollied that was similar but in large chain grocer. One of the leads, Mark Addy, left after 3 seasons. Many of the cast left either for good or for a few seasons with returns, but the show didn't suffer for it. It's entirely believable and easy to follow when the show is about a store rather than other sitcoms that are centered around specific people.
I'm really going to miss the show.
