A list of puns related to "Amateur Sports"
Have you ever played your favorite sport against a completely new player and have found it slightly more difficult than playing against a peer of similar experience? How come?
I'm looking to join a league to play sports with people. Something like soccer, basketball, baseball, etc. I also don't know anyone in this town so it'd have to help me find a team. I'm 21.
A group of us play a sport at an amateur sports facility in Michigan. The team is a free agent team, so none of us knew each other before joining. There has always been something off about one of our teammates, Mark. The first thing he ever said to me, completely unprompted, was that he hates his wife.
Today, the first thing he said to me was that he was served with divorce papers mere hours ago. We just found out from one of our teammates that just before the game, Mark told him directly that he had a gun on him. He then lifted up his shirt really quick, but he didn't get a good look to say for sure whether it was a gun. But he thought he saw a bulge of some sort. He then proceeded to describe the gun in detail and describe some other rash spending that he did since being served.
Obviously after Oxford, we might be more on edge than usual, but what should we do? We just don't know at what point it is concerning enough to do something. Because he didn't threaten anyone. Itโs really the circumstances that are concerning. Was it legal for him to carry the gun? It honestly could have been another mass shooting at the field and I feel like we might be lucky nothing happened. We are obviously also concerned about the safety of his wife.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hey amazing people of Cluj,
I'm new in town and do not have any social connections here. I'm looking to join an amateur sports team, playing after work or on weekends. I have played field hockey, ultimate frisbee in the past and I can make do in basketball, football. Any ideas on how I can find a team of any sport here ?
In the first scenario, you're very popular and everyone is in awe of your skills.
In the second, you cannot make money off the upgrades in any way. So no becoming a model. Also, you have to make the 3 parts specific. You can't say "I want a perfect torso" as that includes stomach and boobs/chest.
There are symphony orchestra and choirs obviously, but if you don't play an orchestra instrument or enjoy singing then there are close to zero alternatives.
I play the piano and enjoy playing chamber music, but it's very hard to find other musicians to play with. Unlike for almost any imaginable sport, there seems to be no "local classical music club" for me to join.
For context, I'm in my late twenties, and currently live in Germany (moved here 1,5 years ago). Classical music definitely has an active scene for professionals here - think of the countless number of publicly funded symphony orchestras. However, when it comes to amateur musicians, I've not encountered many (if any) events, clubs, etc.
One possibility would be to take lessons at a local music school, which will organise various events for their students (usually children though). However, as an adult with an advanced level and a busy schedule, this is not really what I'm looking for.
Another possibility is to try to connect to other amateurs via social media or in real life. Previously I always encountered other musicians at work (I work in science), but in my current job I've not run into colleagues who play classical music. On the other hand, contacting random strangers on e.g. Facebook also doesn't appeal to me, and there are no active FB groups in my region either.
Playing classical music was my favourite hobby as a teenager, and I had hoped to be able to connect with others and make new friends who share this passion wherever I moved to. But unlike friends who played football or tennis, there doesn't seem to be a straightforward way to do this, no existing club or group to join. As a result, I've been playing significantly less in the past months and years, and lack inspiration and motivation. Is classical music after all a hobby for the loner, for the secluded type who enjoys listening alone to old recordings in their basement?
In Australia and the UK, recreational adult sport is organised at the club level. For sports such as football and cricket, the club will have their own ground, clubhouse, coaches etc, and play in organised leagues with promotion/relegation. The competition is amateur, but not social (in that people are out there every Saturday to win, not just have a jolly).
My brief research on America is that adults may have teams but not clubs. As in a bunch of workmates get together to play as the IBM Icebergs or something, rather than North Denver FC, founded 1898.
Moving to the US next year and would like to be part of a club.
I am looking for a subreddit for amateur coaches in sports, coaching either adults or juniors, for friendly exchange of advice and insight. Can be sport specific (soccer) but the main focus should be on the supporting unpaid/almost unpaid amateurs who are coaching players in similar position.
Hi guys and girls,
Might be a long shot, but wondering if there is any sort of amateur sports around brisbane that isn't focused on talent / commitment, but more of a "anyone can join - for fun" kinda deal. I haven't played sports since I was back in school and I am 25 now, not super active or in shape, but looking for a way to get some social exposure and fitness all in one on a weekly / fortnightly basis.
