A list of puns related to "Gaelic Football"
Just got into Gaelic. This post I saw made me wonder.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AFL/comments/msca55/how_well_would_a_powerful_shooter_in_soccer_do_at/
So would skills from other football sports like punting n American Gridiron and power shots in soccer transition to Gaelic smoothly?
For those of us not living in Ireland and are new to the sport, still just testing the waters, whats a good substitute ball? Will a volleyball (which can do many of the stuff a Gaelic ball can do) be suitable? Or what ball from other sports common around the world would you recommend to use to get a feel similar to a Gaelic ball for those of us outside the British Isle who are just experimenting with the sport for now?
As an American Soccer nut who also loves Gridiron and Basketball, I just discovered Gaelic today and the premise ****ing excites me as hell! I am curious though if the game allows primarily to let you dribble the ball purely by foot and to juggle the ball just like they do in footsie? Are you allow to score and pass the ball around by headbutting it?
EDIT: 32 not 33:
Dublin - 10 Mayo - 9 Kerry - 7 Tyrone - 6 Donegal - 2 Tipperary - 2 Cork - 1 Monaghan - 1 Galway - 1 Cavan - 1
And with the possible exception of a competitive Ulster Championship, this doesn't look like changing anytime soon.
Donegal, despite winning it all and making another Final, haven't actually made a Semi-Final since 2014, despite being a lot of people's Dark-Horses every year.
You will always have under-performers in stats like these, but Tipperary, predominantly a hurling county, have done themselves proud the last 10 years.
A lot has been made about this being all about Dublin for the last 10 years or so, but when you break it down even further, Mayo obviously haven't won a Final since 1951 and Tyrone hadn't beaten Dublin, Kerry or Mayo in the last 10 years before this year.
In 2018 both Kerry and Mayo failed to make the Semi-Final, but that year is just looking like more and more of an anomaly now. EDIT: Kerry also failed to make it to the Semi-Final in 2012 and 2020.
Can anybody see any team(s) breaking the status quo? I'm sick of predicting Donegal every year so if I had to pick a team then it would be Monaghan (if McManus stays on) who ran Tyrone close this year although so did Donegal. Is it wishful thinking to say that Meath are nearly there? Hard to look beyond them two for me. Maybe Offaly in 10 years or so.
[Mods, feel free to delete if too irrelevant.]
This Saturday night (Sunday morning 2am AEST) is the All-Ireland final and one of the more interesting in recent times. Dublin, whose reign of terror has seen them win 6 titles in a row, and 8 of the last 10, were bundled out in the semis.
Now it comes down to Tyrone, who haven't won an All-Ireland since 2008, and featuring former-Essendon player Conor Mckenna- who'll be looking for a fairy tale return run, vs Mayo who are looking to overcome a curse which is like a combination of both Melbourne's Norm Smith curse, and Collingwood's Colliwobbles.
Mayo have not won an All-Ireland title since 1951, and since 1989 have been the runner up a whopping 10 times. Going to be interesting to see who lifts the cup
Was looking at picking up a few extra footballs for my own training, anyone able to speak to the quality of these or other non o'neills size 5s? Just too much money for the o'neills when I'm only gonna need it for myself when away from the club in winter/working etc
Does any one around campus have any experience with hurling or Gaelic football? Would there be any interest in trying to get a club going?
Ok so in 2004 an icon of Irish PS2 games released. It received Irish wide success becoming the best selling PS2 game in Ireland. This game boasted not only an English language mode but one for Irish as well! It also included GAA training tips. So all this being said I want a HD Remaster of this iconic game on PS5 and Xbox Series X and PC. It can have modern players and many new features!
Does anyone know anywhere thatβs showing the all-Ireland final tomorrow at 5pm?
Born and raised in America but my Irish heritage is quite present in my life still. My dads family is from County MAYO so this game is a big deal for us.
Let me know if anyone here is interested in watching the game, as a backup may drive down to an Irish pub to watch the game as well.
Hi, I am currently writing a paper for university about the debate that Dublin is overfunded/too superior in the all-Ireland senior football championship. I would love to hear your point of view on this topic or any literature you recommend about it. It would help me out tremendously. Thank you in advance and I'm looking forward to your replies!
EDIT: As a little incentive to write your opinion, remember that, if I quote or reference it in my paper, I will have to cite you by your username :D
EDIT 2: I have created a survey about hte topic and would be really grateful for your participation! https://freeonlinesurveys.com/s/Cx8S4Y2W

Hi all,
I'm making a Gaelic Football Video Game!
I've been working on this in my spare time for the last couple of months.
It's still early days but check out the video below which shows the current progress: Gaelic Football Video Game Prototype - 001
There's a lot of work still left to do but I'd love to hear any feedback.
If you've any questions put them below and I'll do my best to answer them!
Had a blast and thought I would share. Also, how can I practice if I donβt actually have a real football?
