A list of puns related to "What's Eating Gilbert Grape"
i remember seeing this movie when i was little with my mom and it always stuck with me. i recently rewatched it at a sleepover and now that iβm older was able to enjoy the movie much more Leonardo DiCaprioβs performance in this movie was incredible. itβs heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. especially the scene where arnie finds his mother. itβs still one of my favorite movies, definitely great for when you need a good cry!
Or rating 1/10
I'll be more specific.
Gilbert Grape's story is basically about that time in your life when you're feeling stuck, like nothing is happening for you, you're going nowhere with your life, like you're trapped in some way.
I'm going through something similar and would like to read about it.
Thank you in advance.
So I really dig movies like Running on Empty and What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Any recommendations of movies like them in this era?
I donβt know how I hadnβt heard about this movie sooner. I watched it yesterday and I loved it so much. Johnny Depp was really good in that role, it made me appreciate him a lot more than I previously did, having only seen him in the Lone Ranger and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies up to this point. And I will never cease to be amazed by Leo DiCaprioβs ability to play every role he gets completely flawlessly. He did such an amazing job playing a lovable yet sometimes annoying autistic kid, something not a lot of actors could do very well. The story was amazing, I was very invested in Gilbert and Beckyβs relationship throughout the movie. Also I loved John C. Reilly and Crispin Gloverβs roles, they both did a great job. Overall I think this movie should be a lot more praised than it is. Fantastic film.
If anyone knows what this means, I will literally hold your pecker for you when you pee forever.
I watched this film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny depp and I fell in this huge void of insecurity and helplessness watching Leonardo DiCaprio act in it. The fact that he was barely 18 at the time just made me feel shitty as a 20 year old and without even trying, I just declared that there's no possible way that I can do what he did in that film or even come close with my own techniques. Coincidently I saw a video of his in which he says the only reason he started acting was because he wanted to be like his childhood heroes because they inspired him. Why do I feel insecure and not inspired?
This movie has been on my list for a while, and I finally watched it. Wow. I was mesmerized by young Leo. The effort he put into this movie is just amazing. Iβm never disappointed to see the beautiful Juliette Lewis show up in a movie. The way she and Depp play off of each other is great to watch. I kept holding my breath thinking that Arnie would fall off the tower, and was shocked to see Gilbert beat him in the bathroom. But seeing all the stress that Gilbert had to deal with, he was bound to reach a breaking point.
This movie took me through the motions.
I just watched that movie and I need more like it please tell me if you have any
As a fellow autistic, Iβm starting to get sick and tired of people comparing Maddieβs role in music to Leoβs role in whatβs eating Gilbert grape. Whenever we call out Maddieβs role in music, people always bring up whatβs eating Gilbert grape and we have to remind them on when it was released. But when we bring up whatβs eating Gilbert grape, all the Leo stans start getting pressed.
Sorry for the long post Iβm just tired of non-autistics attacking my community and comparing Maddieβs role music to Leoβs role as Arnie in whatβs eating Gilbert grape.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a movie from 1993 that more often than not, comes off like a cheesy 90s teen drama. But for me, especially growing up, this was the most important movie in my life. That's because one of my siblings has a nearly identical neurological condition that Arnie has. In nearly every way, they behave the same. It's ridiculous.
I know representation comes up a lot, but having something like this in your family is so isolating. Your family becomes a freak show for people to gawk at. This was the first time in my life that I felt that fiction was fully representing my lived experience.
Crazy! It couldn't have happened if Leo wasn't fearless. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been to turn in that kind of performance without flinching. It's also clear to me that this couldn't happen today. That makes me sad. In a lot of ways, I get it.
Regardless, I think about this movie all the time and I throw it on when I'm in the mood to cry. If you haven't seen it, please watch it and think about all the complicated, fucked up, and beautiful lives of the people struggling around you.
This post has absolutely no real purpose. I am drunk. Thank.

When Watching this movie I wanted to really focus on the struggles of both Arnie Grape and his family dealing with Arnie's Condition. I noticed in the start of the movie that Arnie was a source of fun and light for the family who have fallen on hard times. Arnie almost seems to rally the family together because he needs them and loves them all unconditionally. Just as the family does him. As the movie progresses however it starts to show the, at times, extreme attention and effort it takes to take care of someone with a mental disability. Arnie does not realize the stress he is putting on his family (Gilbert in particular) and it starts to take its toll on the family. Arnie required constant attention. Proof of this is when Gilbert becomes distracted by conversation with Becky and as a result of the distraction Arnie sneaks off and climbs the water tower, getting arrested in the aftermath. Again, not Arnie's fault as he doesn't know any better. But this movie does a good job showing the work it takes to properly take care of a child/person with a mental disability. It also shows the frustration that can come with it at times. (I know that in this movie Gilbert had a lot of other factors driving his frustration as well) To wrap up this post, I think that this movie did a fairly good job at portraying the attention some people with mental disabilities require and the effect that it could have on their families, especially if the family is struggling to get by.
