A list of puns related to "Waders (footwear)"
I just bought a pair of stockingfoot waders and arenβt sure what foot wear options there are. Iβll be primarily fishing on the beach, jetty, and coastal rocks. Is there a footwear option that gives me comfort throughout?
Iβve seen people wear stockingfoot waders under hiking sandals before, but just doesnβt seem like the best option to me. I dunno, correct me if wrong. What do you guys use?
I'm new to fishing and enjoying it very much. I like to fish early in the mornings, but the past few times my feet have been so damn cold they start to go numb within a half hour. I don't even think about going out for night sessions for this same reason.
Huntington Beach CA is my normal spot - so I'm not exactly fishing freezing temps, but it's definitely cold enough in the early mornings that it's ruined my comfort/ability to fish a few times. I don't think I need anything heavy duty, just something to keep my feet and legs dry. One time I saw a guy fishing with these little wetsuit-like booties on his feet - would those be enough to keep me warm? What are they called?
I'd also like to get into fishing off of jettys but have been put off of it for lack of proper footwear - I only own flimsy tennis shoes rn... Is there a good all around pair of water resistant/proof boots that any of you like?
Thank you in advance for any responses or advice
Hello R/Fishing.
I just received a great pair of stockingfoot waders as a gift. I will use them primarily for surf fishing, but also for freshwater fishing.
Question for those familiar with stockingfoot waders: In your experience, what type of footwear do you recommend wearing with them, if my primary fishing will be on sandy beaches? I know that many boots are available to go over stockingfoot wader neoprene feet- but get the feeling that these are primarily used for rocky conditions (river).
I have done my own research online, and am a little surprised to have not come up with a great answer. Maybe it doesn't matter so much, but, the waders are really nice and I don't want to cause unnecessary wear and tear to the neoprene with sand form improper footwear.
thanks!
Good day fellow fishermen. What does everyone wear when they are in and out of the water while casting and fishing?
I have tried waders, but they are too hot and too cumbersome. I have used rock and surf half boots but they fill with water and stones. I have used him boots but they limit how deep I can go without filling them with water. I often just use slops...
I am trying to decide between either a neoprene slip on water shoe, or a pair of aqualung ergo 5mm booties.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
So do I have to wash them with like colors or can I put them in with sheets and towels if I add a color catcher?
Hello! I was curious what you guys used for footwear in the shoulder season while in the boat or doing portages?
In summer trips I've gotten away with my sandals but as the weather drops I want something a bit warmer that I'm not afraid to get wet. Any suggestions?
I am 6β2β around 180lbs. Size 12 shoe. I cannot seem to find waders that are not huge around the waste. Has anyone had any luck with finding waders that fit better for us taller but thinner framed bodies?
I have a bad foot and so am forced to use maximum cushion Hokas. They make a gortex boot I am considering getting but Iβm unsure of how many sizes I need to go up in order for the booties to fit. Iβm ordering them online and theyβre pretty pricy at $180 so Iβd rather get the right one than buy multiple pairs and return. Thanks!
I just got a pair of simms freestones for Christmas and it is my first "expensive" pair of waders I've purchased.
I want to make sure I protect my investment, so I wanted to see if they're things I could do to make sure they don't leaked due to poor care over time.
I know hanging them up after use is good practice but is there anyother sort of maintenance I could do keep them to keep them healthy longer.
I personally feel a closer connection to the fish that I am catching when I know there's only one thin piece of fabric separating it from by balls.
Just started playing again after awhile on pc with a controller and Iβm still not used to the buttons yet so Iβm probably just going to find the stuff to make them again or world hop for a bit.
One morning my girlfriend and I had to run some errands. We live in Chicago, and this was about a week ago when we were having snow and ice storms. We were going to pickup a Togo grocery order, stop at the liquor store, and we were going to grab Starbucks on the way. So, I asked my girlfriend if I drove, would she run inside to Starbucks to get the coffee, because the one she was ordering from didn't have a drive thru. It was early, and I knew she'd be in and out as the passenger. I would drive and handle the other 2 errands. Before we left I saw her putting on sandals and questioned her choice of footwear. She replied saying that it was her choice what to wear, so I let it go. We leave and while we're just walking out of the condo she turns to me, and goes, "oops I forgot to wear shoes! Would you be sweet and run in and grab the coffee?" So, I asked, "how did you forget to wear shoes?" It's 10 degrees outside and snowing! We could see it snowing outside our floor to ceiling 15 foot open condo windows! How did she forget? We had also both taken dogs outside for walks that day. We ended up having a wild argument about it!
Tldr: Am I the asshole for thinking that my girlfriend wouldn't just tell me she didn't want to go outside to get the coffee, and purposefully wore "inappropriate footwear" so that she had an excuse not to?
Now she has made it a point to wear her socks and sandals outside in the winter again and say, "look I forgot to wear shoes again!" Like it's something that happens all the time? Does this happen to other people too? Is she being manipulative, is there something I'm just not understanding, or am I just an asshole?
Well wouldnβt you know it, the winter steelhead bite begins and the pup decides to chomp on my waders. Has anyone here ever successfully mended waders with punctures? I could buy new ones if I needed but that would be a bummer.
Just picked up some Patagonia waders. I didnβt know they come with knee pads. That must be really useful for tenkara guys when they are bent over butt fucking each other
I saw several posts recently about waders everyone got for Christmas. Iβve never really thought about or looked into them, but Iβm thinking it might be a good addition to my equipment list.
What is a good wader option for someone wanting an all around wader for fishing and possibly some duck hunting? Likely boot foot and insulated.
What all should I look for in a wader?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Considering buying a pair of waders for my boyfriend for Christmas & was hoping the kind folks of this sub would help me narrow down my search!
To my knowledge, he hasnβt ever owned a pair, but has mentioned wanting some a few times while weβve been out fishing together. Weβre casual anglers, primarily in local rivers & lakes, but also enjoy saltwater fishing from the bank/pier.
For those of you who own waders: do you prefer the kind with the built-in boot, or do you prefer the kind with the βstockingfootβ?
Any pros/cons to the different styles that you can think of? Lastly, do you own a pair that you LOVE that you wouldnβt mind recommending? Iβm not too concerned about budget.
Any guidance yβall can offer will be greatly appreciated!
