A list of puns related to "Uric acid"
So I had a gout flare up after I had a few pints and red meat for almost 3 consecutive days about 6 months ago.
I was also training regularly and was on a high protein, high fat and low carb diet. I had just started taking BCAAs.
It was bad and I immediately stopped having dairy, red meat and alcohol. I am a smoker though (trying to quit).
The uric acid peaked to 12.27 after when I got tested right before another flare up 2 months back. I started taking allopathy and homeopathy in December and I got tested again for uric acid and the serum levels dropped to 5.25.
I did have alcohol and red meat one night after the results came in, and the gout affected joint felt slightly sore the next day.
My doctor has asked me to stay on meds until March (which I feel is alot), as I continue minding my diet. Iβm just too conscious about having excessive medication in my system, but if someone has been in the same boat, when did you come off meds, just curious and howβd it feel? Did the uric acid levels fluctuate as you switched your diet?
Soz for too much text! Thanks!
I got prescribed some 40 mg febuxostat and I started taking it today. Still experiencing pain in my feet and canβt sleep at all. Any idea on when the medication is going to take effect?
I have been on 300mg allopurinol for a little over a year now. My uric acid level as of last August was 4.3. Yet I still have gout flareups from time to time. My rheumatologist changed me to 400mg allo. I have colchicine for flares as well as prednisone (which works well).
What I don't understand is why, with such a low uric acid level, I get any flareups at all. When I went from 7.6 four years ago (non-medicated) to 4.3 now I thought that I should be just about immune to gout, yet still it happens.
Any thoughts on why this is?
Thanks.
Should I invest in a UA meter (~$100 +strips)? My first episode was last Tuesday, and I have a GP appointment tomorrow to get my RA referral and then hopefully my Allo.
I have already accepted my fate and I just wanted to know my lifespan. I have 8.8 UA and high LDL don't remember the exact value and have a BMI of 22
Had my uric levels checked and theyβre normal, but it feels like Iβm having an awful gout attack in my ankle. Just awful.
Anyone else experience anything similar? Can you have an attack with normal UA levels?
Does the synthetic urine in the Belt Kit (link below) contain Uric Acid?

Now let's see how they rationalize this:
>Menurut Prof Made Astawan, ahli gizi dan pangan dari Institut Pertanian Bogor, minuman bersoda bersifat basa sehingga reaksi dengan asam urat yang bersifat asam akan menghasilkan garam. Hal tersebut sesuai dengan prinsip kimia, senyawa basa dicampur dengan senyawa asam akan menjadi netral ditambah garam.

Prof Made Astawan needs to learn a concept named buffer solution, a weak acid + conjugate base mix that changes the PH very little when a small amount of acid or alkaline is added to the solution. This solution is present in blood in the form forms of carbonic acid and bicarbonate. This ensures that blood retained its preferred PH, and won't be affected by what foot we eat (to a certain extent). In fact acidosis sometimes actually

Should I be worried about this ? I'll be seeing the doctor next week to go over the results.
Good news after following the above diet for 2 months , my eGFR has gone from 55 to 61, first time its been over 60 in a year and a half, creatine is down to 121, again first time in 18 months, so super encouraged to continue!
That said my Urate levels have dropped off a cliff from over 500 (umol/L) in October to 76 today.
So I've gone from way over range to way under, it has been high for a few months prior. Any thoughts or has anyone else experienced this, waiting to hear back from dietitian for thoughts, hoping its good news, will update, Cheers!
Hello, I am on the tail end of a gout attack and was wondering if the high levels of uric acid are also supposed to be regulated by the bicarbonate buffer system. If so, can that buffer be 'depleted' leading to the uric acid not being compensated?
Thanks.
Edit: Thanks for all the informative answers everybody!
My doctor has advised that I try to naturally lower my uric acid levels (currently 6.65) by changing my diet and lifestyle.
To help monitor my progress, I looked into home uric acid tests.
Did anyone else invest in one of these? And did you find it useful in monitoring your levels?
I bought one on Amazon and it should arrive today.
EDIT: I had a suspected gout flare up on my left toe about 2 weeks ago. Toe was super inflamed and pain was unbearable. It cleared up after 2 days but I'm still having lingering effects. Dr. thinks it's gout but hasn't done nor is recommending to do a definitive analysis to confirm if it's gout or not.
But as my wife says, if you hear hooves, it's probably not a zebra - unless you're in a veldt.

I recently had a lot of blood work done. Hereβs the results:
B-Hemoglobin - 15.2 g/dl ref: 13.4-17 S-CRP - <1 ref: <5 S-Calcium 2.58 mmol/L ref: 2.15-2.51 corrceted calcium: 2.44 eGFR: 130 Uric Acid 8.2
Normal ultrasound of kidneys and liver. Normal liver enzymes and kidney function. UACR normal. Creatinine 67 normal Albumin slightly evelated at 52 ref is 48 max.
Iβm worried about the uric acid. Iβm peeing foamy and it seems like uric acid means problems with kidneys?
So I am in the process of losing weight. Started my journey at 315 and now I weigh 265. For the past 40 days I have started doing keto . Iβm on a limited budget so I eat as clean as I can afford . I had previously experienced many gout flairs and now itβs been consistent pain for a couple weeks. Not severe like before but it hinders my workouts . My general routine is a black coffee or coffee with heavy cream if Iβm not doing a fast day In the morning . I proceed to the gym then will have a protein shake with almond milk , I break my fast with bone broth and some butter and a half a cucumber before the shake. Then a little after that I make a green tea to sip on with 2 tsp of coconut oil and 1 tbsp of organic lemon juice . I usually add a little cinnamon and turmeric . Then I have roughly 200-275g of protein for my supper and broccoli and cauliflower or green beans (butter on everything lol ). Usually some Shredded cheddar but I tried removing it for the past week and I still had gout pain. Also I have a sip of pickle juice occasionally for some electrolytes . And supplement with a solid multivitamin and zinc , vitamin D , as well as omega 3βs .
So I have a few questions . Is there something I should change? Does this eventually subside? I know whey protein has less purines and I was also wondering if I increased my protein intake into 2 shakes as my source of protein and cut down the meat ?
Sorry for the massive post but itβs a massive journey right :)
I was diagnosed with gout mid-August. I have no idea how I got it: I work out at least 3 times a week; eat a healthy diet primarily composed of chicken breast, rice, and vegetables; hardly ever eat beef or seafood; drink hard liquor straight 2-3x a month; and lack a family history.
The episode was debilitating and took me about 3 weeks to fully recover. A combination of the pain and restriction to my range of movement kept me nearly bed bound for those at least 1.5 weeks and greatly interfered with my quality of life for the rest of time.
I saw my doctor who prescribed me indocin which helped a lot but gave me the worst stomach problems even when I took my omeprazole beforehand. I would often wake up in the middle of the night from the pain and be forced to eat something. Wanting never to go through this pain in my life, I talked to my doctor about putting me on allopurinol but my labs just made it into the normal range for uric acid after weeks of me drinking gallons of water and eating only porridge and vegetables.
This morning I started to feel a flare coming on and took my indocin which is helping, albeit I don't know if it's merely treating my symptoms. I'm glad my classes are over for the semester, but I'd rather not go through pain and immobilization of a gout episode and indocin side effects. Should I pressure my doctor to refer me to a rheumatologist or straight up prescribe me allopurinol?
So I had rhabdomyolysis and started peeing foamy. This led to a lot of kidney check, blood work, urine tests and ultrasound and everything was excellent other than my uric acid. Itβs at 8.2 mg/dL and Iβm wondering is this something my kidney is struggling to filter out or is it harmless until I actually develop gout?
Im a healthy 16m who eats healthy and exercises a lot (soccer, skateboarding, and workout). I was surprised when i was diagnosed w high uric acid level (7mg/dl. Ik its not that high but the dr said its not normal to have 7mg/dl at 16yrs old)and high cholesterol level. Ive been eating extra healthy and drinking tons of water everyday. Does working out increase uric acid level? Need answers asap! Thank u Edit: im 5ft9 (175cm) and 65kg. My body fats 11% which is healthy. Edit2: ik this is a sub for those w gout, but i havenβt experienced signs of gout. Just high uric acid level
I'm 24 and taking medicine for cholesterol & uric acid and doctor it maybe genetic issue or my body cant handle cholesterol and proteins (something like that he said). My mom having uric acid problem but none of my family having cholesterol. I'm just curious to know do i have to keep on taking statins for lifetime because when i stop statins cholesterol goes to 200. I'm now afraid of eating foods like before and doctor said am having Non alcoholic fatty liver also. I was obsese weighing 75kg and im 157cm in height, reduced 10kg. And one more thing i was having vitamin D critically insufficient so took tablets for that but i think its went down now.
I made a post before about my uric acid levels.
I am now on my 3rd Month on keto diet and really the only value that really worries me is my uric acid.
I drink 4L Water a day my macros are a bit off balance with mostly only 50% Fat 45% proteins but I don't really see why I should intake more kcal by adding pure fat even thought I am already full just to complete the makros.
Kcal I am also often in a deficit and doing 16/8 IM.
Now the Uric Acid Levels are high, I somewhat irregular self tested them with a blood sugar device and got readings above 12 mg/dl
One morning I tested I got a pretty nice value of only 6,3 mg/dl were I thought I am finally over this but a week later I measured in the morning again and got 14 mg/dl again.
I read a post of someone fasting for 15 days and he got insane UA levels too so I am really wondering if most is only my body disassembling itself thats getting me my UA values, but is that bad?
I am really happy with the keto diet as I lost 14kg so far and otherwise feel really great.
I've been thinking about getting a meter for a few weeks and I see I'm not the only one. Does anyone have any advice on buying one, brands or types to avoid?
I'm in the UK so specific models may not be available on different sides or the Atlantic but I'm hoping it will point me in the right direction.
I plan on starting allo in the next week or so and it'll provide a nice baseline and comparison to propper blood tests as I start the process.
So for the record, I'm 18, had left knee pain for 2 years but ignored it for an year altogether. Got it checked last year, turned out I had high uric acid levels in my blood. The ortho put me on a Febuxostat 80mg medication. After a bit of looking up online I asked him later if it's Gout. He says it isn't, but can build up to it eventually. I was advised to avoid eating protein rich stuff and start exercising. The levels dropped down in 6 months, and I was put off medications. However the levels recently shot up again and now I'm on medication for 3 months, and the same dietary advise. Problem being, I can't go to gym without feeling sore when I eat less protein stuff. Anyone has prior experiences with this? Also would really like to know if there's anyone who has similar symptoms like mine at my age, or is it just me. I understand this isn't medical advice and I keep in touch with my doctor regularly. Thanks for reading.
So I've had diagnosed hbp for 3-4 years with no particular cause. I just got a blood test from an alternative medicine Dr. My uric acid is elevated (it's at 10 where it should be around 6) . I read online that there is a correlation between hbp and high uric acid. Has anyone else gotten this checked out before?
I understand there's a finger prick that you can mail off in the UK. Is that offered here? I'm trying to isolate triggers and don't want to see a doctor every time I want to get tested.
Without doubt black pepper is one of the oldest known spices. This spice was rather famous and yet it was believed that it is quite precious. However, there are also certain characteristics of black pepper that you most likely werenβt conscious that they exist.

Just received word that my uric acid levels are down to 4.0. Iβm on 400 mg of Allo. I had a flare up in the middle of August and up until about 2-3 weeks ago, was still experiencing some swelling and pain. I am still having what feels like residual pain from the flare up. Itβs happening in different parts of my feet and not necessarily where the flare ups take place. I had some flare in my right knee and Iβm still feeling some pain there. Ibuprofen helps some. Does anyone else experience lingering pain and for how long?
I have been eating the slow carb diet for the last 1.5 month and the results have been amazing, lost 6cm of waistlline, lost at max 10kg and keeping around 6kg in lost weight, went down a size in clothing, and looked and felt better.
However, my routine serum uric acid came out rising from 6.0ish to 8.3ish while taking the same medication, gout flare-ups have never been a problem throughout my life just serum uric acid levels, my main suspicion is the rapid weight loss but family members is concerned with the amount of beans I consume and showing recent study linking high serum uric acid levels and insulin resistance also didn't ease of their worry.
My take is that if I increase the number of vegetables in my diet therefore increasing fiber and also increasing protein intake to offset the beans would achieve the same effect, is my logic correct? any other help would be appreciated.
Anyone have high Uric acid, for years mine has fluctuated between 6.8 - 7.2 mg/dl. As I understand this could be caused by HH.

Hi guys whatβs the dosage for potassium citrate to lower uric acid?
Iβm habits trouble finding this information.
I saw some websites saying 10 mEg (which is about 3000mg) taken 2-4x/day, but that doesnβt sound right. 6000-12000mg potassium sounds harmful and most pills on amazon are like 200mg.
Also, has anyone used potassium citrate to lower uric acid successfully?
No matter how many times people tell me keto canβt raise uric acid, my numbers keep rising since starting ketosis (5.1 6m ago pre keto, o9.1 now). Iβm at my wits end and aboit to stop ketosis if I canβt get it lower
Iβve done the lemon juice, baking soda, extra hydration and electrolytes and it goes up every week. I donβt have diabetes and my kidney numbers are fine just had them checked
I just checked mine is 6.9 mg/dL. Very close to normal high.
It could be related to chest inflammation to cause pain? Anyone know? It didnβt come out my searchβ¦
