A list of puns related to "Regional variations of barbecue"
Why? Don't you know about something called the cost of living, exchange rates amongst different currencies and average salary in a country?
Coeffecient of Variation is an indicator that was very useful in determining the VW squeeze prior to happening because it noticed how arbitrage among all the trading venues of VW stopped working. You can read about it here.
VWAP describes price moves relating to volume, describing liquidity.
Volkswagen was a unique set up because it was a large cap stock that was trading on many international exchanges and many European exchanges simultaneously. As soon as liquidity dried up you would notice huge price variations that were not solved with arbitrage. This means VW would trade on one exchange at a certain price, and at an another price on another exchange. These opportunities are normally taken advantage of and prices normalize. Volatility generally is a huge profitable opportunity for arbitration, but it can become a self-perpetuating cycle as more and more volatility leads to more arbitrage leads to less liquidity and more over-under correcting. If arbitrators get liquidity wrong they can end up exasperating price variation and things spiral out of control.
Let's take a quick look at GME and how these regional price variations worked this year:
Indicator used**:** GME REGIONAL PRICE OVERLAY, credit to delegaatio.
The regions we are grabbing GME prices on are: NYSE, XETR, BMV , FWB, SWB, BITTREX, FTX, LSE , CAPITALCOM (CFD)

Observe the various colour lines. Each line represents a different GME price on a different exchange. As volatility increases you'll notice there is more and more variation.
There was huge variation on February 24th, and that maintained itself until March 10th when prices became quite normalized. It does seem March 10th was about to get significantly out of control.
March 29th, 2021:
Sometimes the indicator does not indicate any impending price move. In late march we saw a variance emerge but no price changes materialized. What's relevant in March however was the stock was, significantly, more liquid. There were still tens of millions of shares trading per day. The higher th

However, I've often heard Russian speakers AND learners claim that this language is pretty homogenous across the country, and there's only just some light regional accents.
Some learners who've learned Moscow Russian claim that they have no difficulty understanding speakers from the opposite side of the country and they perceive almost no difference. As an Italian native speaker, that's hard to believe for me, since in my (by comparison) small country, there's massive differences in pronunciation and accent from one side to the other, often to the point of impairing intelligibility for non-natives (talking about ITALIAN here, not Italian regional languages/"dialects")
For instance General Tao's chicken is no where to be found in China, but is a beloved Chinese takeout staple.
For me, it has to be Napolitan Spaghetti from Japan. It sounds like a 5 year old tried to re-create Spaghetti pomodoro, but completely butchered the ingredients and just used what was in the fridge (cut up hotdogs/lunch meat, ketchup, etc). You'd probably give an Italian a heart attack if you explained this dish to them, but honestly, the ketchup is really what makes the dish. I had several versions of the dish while traveling in Japan, and it brought a smile to my face everytime I ate it.

Hey all. I saw this post in r/dataisbeautiful and wanted to take a crack at a name map using my own name.
In the process of mapping it out so, I believe I found some funny regional discrepancies I was hoping someone in this sub might have an explanation for. Comparing the two given names 'Brad' and 'Bradford', 'Brad' has been much more popular of the two nationally since 1910, however 'Bradford' has performed noticeably better the further east one goes, and especially in New England.
Would anyone have an inkling as to why that may be? My initial assumption was that the -ford suffix may have some demographic ties but I can't riddle that out. My next assumption was I messed up with the data somewhere along the line, but I believe this is all pretty sound.
A few more things I believe are worth noting:
Pasties? Do they have regional variants? Chips with something, maybe?
Inspired by this video.
So I was wondering, why what in linguistics and my native language, German, as well is referred to as a dialect to classify regional variations of any language, is called an accent in an English language context?
Like if the game includes a swastika, is it possible to create a special version for German users, in which the swastika is censored? I was under the impression it was possible, but I'd like a confirmation.
Im sure other countries have accents that differ based on the region of the country or some other characteristic. But to me different British accents sounds pretty similar overall. But in the US, I feel like a new york accent is significantly more different from a southern accent than a similar difference in a foreign country
Here is a fun piece for Bloomberg, I would say you should take Five Factor personality theory somehow seriously, but not too seriously.Β Excerpt:
Letβs consider extraversion. The least extroverted states in the country are Maine, Washington and Oregon, which fits my stereotype that a disproportionate number of the residents of those states are seeking some kind of isolation. Wisconsin has the most extroverted population, with Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska coming in next. The Midwest seems to be a friendly and outgoing place. That is to me also no huge surprise, though I would not have picked Wisconsin to be No. 1. The southern states come in at about average, while New Mexico, Nevada, Vermont and Montana do not measure as very extroverted, relative to the rest of the country.
And:
The data on conscientiousness run counter to stereotype. My expectation was that the Midwest would win out here, but the Southeast ranks the highest. Coastal California fares poorly, as do scattered parts of the Midwest and West, again non-obvious or unexpected results. If it restores your faith in stereotypes, the area surrounding New Orleans, perhaps the most licentious city in the South, also rates low in conscientiousness.
Overall, the two strongest correlates of conscientiousness were Republican share of the vote, and share of married individuals in the population.
When it comes to emotional stability, fans of βThe Sopranosβ or βSeinfeldβ will not be surprised: The Northeast, stretching down through Appalachia, ranks the lowest by a noticeable amount. Thereβs a reason George Costanza and Tony Soprano fit right in.
