A list of puns related to "Quotation mark"
For example, I wish to open all *.txt files using notepad++
My notepad++.exe is located at c:\program files\notepad++\
so I run below
Get-ChildItem * -Include *.txt | Foreach-Object {"C:\Program Files\Notepad++\Notepad++.exe" $_}
but this gives me
ParserError:
Line |
1 | β¦ urse | foreach-object {"c:\\program files\\notepad++\\notepad++.exe" $\_}
| \~\~
| Unexpected token '$\_' in expression or statement.
Any way to fix this?
Do commas follow quotations with question marks and exclamation points, and if so, should the word that follows be capitalized? Is 1A, 2A, 3A, or 4A correct?
Do periods follow quotations if they are the end of the sentence? Is 1B or 2B correct?
1B. «Voglio saperne di più», disse Conner con gioia, «ma sono così lontane, non riesco a vederle bene!»
2B. «Voglio saperne di più», disse Conner con gioia, «ma sono così lontane, non riesco a vederle bene!».
If the previous question requires periods, are they still retained in a dialogue? Is 1C or 2C correct?
1C.
Β«Ehi, ma non Γ¨ una stella!Β»
Β«No, perΓ² non Γ¨ un bel rosso?Β»
2C.
Β«Ehi, ma non Γ¨ una stella!Β».

Does a continuing sentence capitalize the first word? Is 1D or 2D correct?

^ Breaks my script. Help?
I like to make a backup copy of my wattpad stories onto Google Docs.
So for wattpad, the font is in Arial, while for Google Docs, I like to have it in Times New Roman. So when I copy and paste it from wattpad, I notice that all the quotation marks and apostrophes are still in the arial font.
Is there any way to change it into Times New Roman without doing it one by one?
Thanks.
I'm working on a text that already uses "those" quotation marks, so although my document has βthoseβ quotation marks set as preferred, they remain the same. I was thinking of using a GREP but I'm not that experienced with it so it's difficult for me to figure out the correct codes. Could anyone help?
I love saying "steak" or "bacon" instead of writing the names out just by themselves, because these terms really disguise the nature of the suffering that the animals go through.
I am not sure the origin of this problem, it has been happening for roughly a week now. I am using the old reddit design, the bug does not appear on the redesign.
Problem:
Sometimes someone posts a link that contains underscores _
, sometimes quotation marks ""
, then on old reddit the URL or link text will appear with backslash escape characters, i.e. \_
, \"
.
This breaks URLs to sites such as Wikipedia or Youtube, where an underscore might be an important part of the URL (video ID, etc.). It does not affect links to other reddit threads, where underscores mostly only appear as filler or part of the vanity URL.
Examples posts containing such malformed URLs:

I dunno if y'all already have something explaining this but... I can't be bothered to try to scroll so much as to find an answer if there is one. I've read like 5 different articles trying to figure it out but I just can't get it. How in the WORLD do German quotation marks work??? When is it appropriate to use which type???? My brain is practically mush at this point so please explain in small words. I just don't understand.
Hello everyone, I'm kind of new to Scrivener but I'm already starting to feel it. Being italian and all, I need to use at least two types of quotation marks:
- the guillemets ( « » ) for direct speech,
- the smart quotes, the so-called '66 and 99' ( β β ), aka the curly ones - for figurative speech, irony and whatnot.
And I need them in a handy, quick-and-easy-to-type way, not having to search them in some sub-menu every time. (with Microsoft Word I use a macro for the guillemets and it's lightning-fast... just saying...).
I know I can set the option (in file/options/corrections/punctuation) so that every time I type shift+2 I get the guillemets (and that's just fine) but at the cost of losing the smart quotes (they come by default by typing shift+2). Not fine.
So if there's no way to have both of them right on hand when writing, I'm afraid I'll have to fall back on Word for the writing part and resort to Scrivener for the organizing and editing one. And that sucks.
"text." is correct.
"text". is not correct.
It's just something that's been bugging me for a while, the fact that people ACTUALLY put the ending punctuation AFTER the quotation mark. And yes, I do know that it is also grammatically correct to put it after the quotation mark (or at least that's what I've been told), but I hate it for no other reason than it just looks ugly.
