A list of puns related to "Nike sweatshops"
I'm not saying that using sweatshops is good it is terrible and shouldn't be a thing and we should absolutely fight against and stop the use of them. But I have a problem when I see people hate on athletes signing with Nike/ Nike ads and lash out against Nike for using sweatshops (despite most of their clothing probably coming from sweatshops as well) but ignore most other brands that use sweatshops like Sketchers. I'm not saying we shouldn't hate on Nike I'm just confused why people act in this way.
I see people everywhere wearing nikes. In fact, they are probably the most popular streetwear shoe nowadays. Popular celebrities that wear them include Michelle Wolf and Hasan Minaj. Both of these comedians are supposedly woke and make most of their money talking about tragedies happening in the world. So why do they wear shoes made by children and sweatshop workers? Why do so many people continue to support an industry that is causing so much pain and suffering?
This was mentioned in one of the recent debates on Trainwreck's podcast with Asmongold iirc.
just some few random thoughts that sprung my mind:
Is it just the extreme competition of the industry, as in: "If i don't do it, someone else will exploit these 3rd worlders".
Are businesses not able to refine their supply chain and production and pay these workers a bit more + providing better working environments?
Will everything crumble down when they pay a few dollars more per worker?
Have they no say in foreign factory/working guidelines?
Have they no lobbying power to promote fair trade policies internationally?
No necessary looking for direct answers but some general idea about the topic would be nice.
