European musketeers did not wear or wore only a little bit of armour. Meanwhile, Japanese Ashigaru and Ming Dynasty musketeers wore armour covering most of their body. Why? And how protective was it? There was no way it would stop a bullet, right? And how economical was it?

Why is historical Japanese armour constructed a certain way
Would anyone know why historical Japanese armour had their chest armour constructed in a way that the lower lames overlapped the upper lames rather than the other way around? I.e. top ones overlap the lower ones.

A weird reason I love the Robert boss fight is the historical accuracy. You cant cut through plate armor. Even Japanese armour is sometimes impossible to cut with a sword. Sekiro is a fantasy game that sometimes gets things really accurate. I love it
In modern media the katana became a sword where you can cut through anything. Glad that fromsoftware changed this.
