A list of puns related to "Lamellar Armour"
Perks and gear advises all welcome.
Hey folks, I'm wondering if anyone here has had experience buying lamellar online. Where did you buy it l, how was the experience, how was the quality of the armour?
I've always been an avid fan of everything medieval. Especially things related to warfare and arms development. Over the years I have also noticed a curious trend in armour development in Eastern Europe, Middle-East and Asia; they have always favoured lamellar and scale-type segmented armour in their armies, based on representations in media and paintings or codexes of their own time.
I know that European armour revolved heavily around maille-based designs throughout the entire medieval period, ever since the Roman Empire's collapse (and even before), and later it developed to include an increasing amount of plates, culminating in the late-Medieval full plate suits of steel.
The closest non-European design to this, based on my sparse historical knowledge, is a South-Indian Mughal (and further Middle-Eastern) segmented mail with sewn-in metal plates [link to example picture], but that's about it. Chinese, Japanese and Slavic armies are usually associated with warriors sporting lamellar vests, and the most advanced of Islamic World's fighters could be possibly depicted clad in long coats of metal scales, somewhat akin to the scales of a fish.
What developments, functional capabilities or disadvantages of these three (European plate (or earlier limited designs such as brigandines) + maille, Slavo-Asiatic metal/leather/bone lamellar, predominantly Islamic scale armour) caused their distribution and domination in these regions of the world?
I apologise if I accidentally group these armour types in a way that seems simplifying and stereotyping to these three geographical areas or cultures. I understand that they were used widely east of central europe after the fall of Roman Empire and during the Middle-Ages, regardless of cultures. My main interest is why, and how these areas would favour these types of personal protection for warriors, other than fashion, personal taste and such subjective factors.
Additionally I apologise for any grammatical errors, for English is not my first language.
To clarify my mental images, I shall put up links to images of three generic recreations of the aforementioned armour types:

... keep reading on reddit β‘Greetings, I am currently trying to select what kind of steel I will use to create lamellar plates used in Reenactement ( with blunt steel weapons ( Sorry if this sounds obvious, still new to this whole world ) ). I've tried to look around online for what kind of material is usually used when crafting armour but didn't find anthing. So Far i'm going with CRS but i'm wondering if it's really that much better than HRS ( considering HRS is cheaper pricewise and I will need to make multiple sets ). If anyone could fill me in with the advantages of using stainless steel too, I would be very grateful.
Thank you for reading me
My question regarding armor is we know chainmail was used based on the Gjermundbu find but even though the supposed lamellar pieces found at Birka were eastern and a Norseman would never have fought in it, is it plausible to think that a wealthy Norseman could've bought or traded for lamellar chest armor at a busy trading hub like Hedeby or Birka considering it was a cross cultural trading hub if I'm correct?
Not attempting to confirm my own bias, just genuinely interested in whether this is plausible or absolutely ridiculous.

Is there any way to get to Lamellar and Plate armour? I have read the Lamellar book and purchased the Plate book, but the only style I can read about is an alternative light armour recipe. Is there any way to progress further before mainland?
Hello, my name is Jiuan. I am trying my hand at writing a novel. I wanted to write a prologue that creates suspension for the story. I hoped to get some advice from more experienced writers. This is a first draft. I am prepared to get demolished in the comments. This is my first work after all.

It had been a very boring and uneventful day until then.
No bandits robbing the roads, no fighting or squabbling amongst the local peasantry. Nor were there any suspicious travellers. All had been in order. Peace and prosperity reigned. And it bored him to death.
For TΓΌlagu, this has become his usual day. He had served for over twenty falls, a veteran. And he was quite exceptional at his job. Joined the guard at twelve, at age sixteen he was appointed lieutenant, at nineteen captain of his own unit, at age twenty-five he already led his own garrison together with his companion and commander Zev. He himself was vice commander.
Now he was thirty-three, with a wife and two children at home. He has a warm bed to sleep in. Every time he came home, his beautiful wife Liu would have already prepared his supper. On his own plots of land, he would play ball with his two sons. After dinner TΓΌlagu taught them literacy and writing. And afterwards he would light an incense-lamp made by his favourite shop and tried reading novellas. Most of the time though, he simply fell asleep.
But TΓΌlagu missed the old days. Back when the Khaganate was still more or less in a state of disarray and disorder. Twenty years ago, it could still be considered a young empire, barely older than half a century. Hegemony had yet to be fully established.
In the chaos, bandits used to roam the roads. Raiders and skirmishers, remnants left by the warring states before imperial rule, still roamed around. Regional gangs and brotherhoods had to be taught a lesson.
The exterior guard corps, which operated outside the cities and the jinyiwei, the empire's secret service, cracked down upon drug lords, insurgent rebels and pillagers alike. And they were damn good at it.
But the land grew ever more peaceful. It flourished. Crime was at an all time low. There was no pride, valour or fun in that. A girl could wander between towns by herself and nothing would
... keep reading on reddit β‘I like to write short stories and am currently trying to draw up a description for the armour of a very-very wealthy Viking character. On top of storytelling, I am also concerned with making it so that this character's armour is as close to history as possible. But I want him to stand out from the rest of the characters. I want his armour to be a display of how unbelievably wealthy he is.
I understand that a wealthy Viking could've had mail, a helmet a shield, spear, sword, axe, knife, etc. However, hypothetically, what would a Viking's set of armour look like, in the case of the absolute richest of Vikings? In addition to some sort of mail, would a very wealthy Viking have worn lamellar? Or what about scale, or even rudimentary plate armour?
