A list of puns related to "Icelandic cuisine"
The Icelandic plate consists of a lot of arctic fish, spices, and milk. The fish in Iceland are much bigger than the same species of fish elsewhere in Europe due to the cold waters, so I can only assume that the Icelandic people were even more well-fed during this time.
Am I right in this assumption? Is there any information on this? Thanks!
Ingredients
Instructions
In a heavy-bottomed pot, heavy butter over medium heat.
Add onions, celery and carrots and sweat until onions are translucent, about six minutes.
Add white wine, bring to a simmer and reduce by half, about five minutes.
Add stock and potatoes, bring to a simmer and cook for twenty minutes or until vegetables are soft.
Add cubed fish and chopped tomatoes; softly simmer for another five minutes.
Turn heat down to low, add cream and salt and pepper to taste and heat until
soup is piping hot but not boiling (otherwise the cream with curdle).
Turn off heat, add chives and serve immediately with good brown bread and butter.
Enjoy!

I've eaten a lot of weird and wonderful things in my time, and will often try the local cuisine if I'm traveling. I'm had puffin, whale and horse in Iceland (the country, not the supermarket), veal in Spain, and plenty of other things. I'm the kind of person who will try it all. But what about you?
What ho, fellow balloon-boys!
Here are the chapter summaries for this week's sections, brought to you a whopping one hour before I would have missed the deadline for this! Also, remember to visit the sub again on Christmas Eve, where /u/SofaKingIrish will be leading the group through more mind-boggling mayhem with Chapters 17-22!
Summaries
Section 11
We begin Part II with a return to our old friends the Chums of Chance, who have stopped in Northern Alaska where, suddenly, they spot the BOL'SHAIA IGRA - "The Great Game," a red, onion-shaped airship piloted by the Tovarishchi Slutchainyi, also known as the Russian arch-foes of the Chums of Chance (see for instance The Chums of Chance and the Ice Pirates, or The Chums of Chance Nearly Crash into the Kremlin). Their leader Captain Igor Padzhitnoff warns the Chums that a local intelligence agency, I.G.L.O.O, has just declared the Arctic a Zone of Emergency, so they might want to consider leaving. He warns them, vaguely, that the emergency involves a creature from where he grew up, and says: "That creature, we did not have name for. Ever." Of all of the Chums, only Miles Blundell appreciates the warning. They proceed into the Zone of Emergency.
The Chums try several times to intercept the Vormance Expedition steamer, the รtienne-Louis Malus, but are stopped each time by unforseen circumstances, including the "extra man" dilemma endemic of the Arctic, whereby crews seem to have more names to read at morning role-call than they had before they arrived...
The Malus, we are told, was named after the engineer who, looking through a piece of Iceland spar in late 1808, discovered polarized light, whereby two separate reflections are created by shining one light into the rock. There are many rumours surrounding the ship's current expedition, one of which is that they were searching for a purer form of Iceland spar; another one of which is that this isn't about Iceland spar at all.
Here, we are introduced to Constance Penhallow, an Icelandic woman whose family had made their money through Iceland spar, owning deposits across the Arctic. Seeing the Vormance Expedition, she knows that her son Hunter Penhallow will stow himself on their ship, leaving her forever.
We flashforward to the Hotel Borealis, where the Vormance Expedition has set up quarters, and where, outside, Hunter is attempting to paint in the wintry, Icelandic fog. The Expedition drinks from a bottle decorated with tropical scenes a
... keep reading on reddit โกI just moved here from the states to live here and Iโve noticed one major thing about Icelandic people. American culture/cuisine thrives here. Iโve noticed how popular food from around the states is here. Such as wings, Tennessee chicken, Tex-Mex food, and how popular Dominoes/KFC are. Like Iโm all for it and all but maybe to me itโs just the culture shock hitting me. Iโm not really missing home as much as I thought I would. Growing up in a Mexican household, yeah the food isnโt 100% similar but thereโs even a South American food store here. Now that I notice it. Yโall just have a taste for food around the world. Itโs like living in a small town in the states. I come from a city of 4 million and this country feels like one small city thatโs spread out.
Another thing is how popular Florida is for Icelandic people to visit. Yes Florida is one of the warmest but the other Southern states have so much to offer. Texas has some of the best foods yโall will ever try. I do reckon it will be worth yโallโs time.
My partner and I love to cook and recently got a lot of new tools and gadgets thanks to Christmas gifts. So we decided to come up with a fun cooking challenge that Iโd like to share!
We picked 12 cuisines from different cultures around the world and each month we choose one and cook one recipe a week from that cuisine.
So every month you cook 4 recipes from a certain cuisine/culture.
You can pick any 12 that interest you and if 4 recipes sounds like too much you can always just do 2 or even 1 recipe a month!
Some ideas for you:
These are just some cultures I could think of off the top of my head. Obviously some of these also have multiple different cuisines depending on the region of the country. You can get as broad or as specific if you want! If you are American and arenโt to keen on food from other countries, or at least not enough to come up with 12, you could always do different styles of American cuisine like Tex mex, southern comfort food, creole food, western style, north east, etc.
If anyone is from any of these countries (or any not listed here!) and has a good recipe they would like to share please drop them in the comments below too, we love trying new recipes from around the world even if itโs not from the list of 12 we chose!
Good morning everyone. I have kind of an odd question, but I'll bite.
In late January this month, I will be visiting Iceland and staying in Reykjavik for about a week. I have taken care of my flight, lodging, and COVAC insurance in the event that I test positive for COVID and require evacuation back to the United States, as well as have a plan in place for transportation, SIM card, and sightseeing.
However, one thing I need to research on is the means of getting food. For personal financial reasons, I am looking to minimize money spent at restaurants (saving only for traditional cuisine and the like) and rather just eat for nourishment as I'll be out and about 95% of the time. In other words, I'm not picky with food, but rather just want to get the most bang-for-the-buck and not spend more than I need to.
Locals, or those that have traveled, what is the most cost-effective way of taking care of food while in Reykjavik while also being on the go?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
It's been a while, choombatas.
Life being life, I couldn't find time to offer you the file I really wanted to bring you. So instead I've come to you with another list of places to visit, beyond Night City and North America as a whole. As always, here's to hoping this inspires and helps you when deciding to move your adventures abroad!
If you need more info, check the comments. Much love <3
A hippie haven in the '60s, As Sawira was for many years but a sleepy seaside town whose main interest was in tourism. Things changed in the mid-2010s when a European Augmented Reality conglomerate, Lens, signed up a long-term lease for its island with the Moroccan government. Said island was used as a small R&R colony for Lens' execs looking to disconnect for a bit, before being returned to Morocco following the Fourth Corporate War.
Inspired by the augmented reality idea, the Moroccans then turned not only the island but the whole town into a gigantic augmented reality amusement park. Targeting mostly wealthy consumers and families, the city boasts AR concerts and heritage visits in the Old Medina, as well as immersive 5D stories such as Casablanca '42 or Hannon's Visit. Rollercoasters, water parks, restaurants, and cafes compose the rest of a city destined to milk as many ebbies as possible from its visitors.
Considering the amount of personnel needed to run the As Sawira-Mogador park, and the know-how required to set up the shows, the place is surrounded by residential districts for local workers as well as dedicated universities to train the much-needed execs. The whole area is under strict police control and laws are enforced ruthlessly. Locals, as well as the odd foreign visitor, have been known to disappear when running afoul of the local sharif...
Beyond the whole entertainment faรงade, As Sawira and the Mogador park attract many fairs promoting the products made in Northern Africa. If you're working for a high-ranking European or African commerce official, chances are good that you'll end up in As Sawira at one time or another. They say the only thing better than VIP parties at Mogador are the networking opportunities... or is it the intelligence-gathering ones?
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

Ants donโt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
It really does, I swear!
And now Iโm cannelloni
Because she wanted to see the task manager.
But thatโs comparing apples to oranges
And boy are my arms legs.
Heard they've been doing some shady business.
but then I remembered it was ground this morning.
Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
