Check the packaging! Breyers is probably the most well known brand for having both ice cream and frozen dairy dessert next to each other on store shelves.
The Food and Drug Administration requires ice cream to contain at least 10% milk fat. Otherwise, it cannot be named ice cream. Basically, frozen dairy dessert has a smoother, fluffier texture due to less milk fat and more air whipped in, but it can also contain additives like corn syrup, whey, diglycerides, etc.
I've accidentally eaten frozen dairy dessert before and my taste buds were very confused, wondering what was wrong with my ice cream. I personally hate it, but for many people the texture is preferred!

I have family in St. Louis and visit frequently. Every time I'm in, we always stop at Ted Drewes (obviously), but I was doing some reading and accidentally came across Clementines Naughty and Nice Creamery.
People were saying it's the best ice cream ever. Now, I know Ted Drewes is frozen custard and not technically ice cream, but a guy can only eat so much frozen milk products.
Is Clementines worth a stop next time I'm in?
