A list of puns related to "Cooler"
Maybe it's his rogue vandal look, but I think it looks so much better than goku's pumpkin costume
Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to discuss about this but I found no dedicated subreddit for Apple Silicon.
I'm quite excited about this, Mac with Apple Silicon. The current Intel chips are just getting too hot and unable to maintain the max performance long enough. I believe Apple's own processor is definitely more power efficient (thus less heat) and the A12Z proves what an iPad processor is able to achieve, think when the chip team design something that is going to run under active cooling⦠I don't think it can beat current Intel chip this or the coming a few years, but a chip that is more powerful than a low spec MBP will not surprise me too much.
What I am really worry about is how this transition is going to affect non-apple developers like me. I do my daily development on my MBP, mostly non-apple stuff like .net core, Python, sometimes Flutter, Go. MBP with Intel chip is definitely giving me a high productivity boost with all those unix toolchains right available in the bash. What will it be like in an ARM Mac? Will we get broken toolchains everywhere?
Just imagine, if some kind of tool (let the tool = A) is unable to compile because of its dependency (B) is unable to compile on ARM (Mac). Somehow we could fix B, however, B's dependency (C) is again unable to compile on ARM (Mac). How long does the open source community need to adapt this change? Will this day ever come? I do worry about it.
Other than toolchain, IDEs are another problem. It is Aug now and 2 months have passed after Apple Silicon is announced. I see actions made by the major players in IDE market moving towards the ARM change, but nothing is running yet.
VS Code: The issue about VS Code not running on Apple Silicon is basically dead.
https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/101662
JetBrains: Looks like they're following up, quote "We aim to make our products work on the new Apple processors starting from the day of the official hardware availability for purchase."
https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-2526
Probably last concern in this post, but not last in my worry list, Docker. DTK has no virtualization support which I think blocks Docker team from developing an ARM Mac version. And even if this is developed (shortly) after the actual ARM Mac release, will cross build be possible? Can I build an ARM image on my local testing env (

Whenever itβs kinda cold but not wicked cold and I see my breath I remember it. Itβs just so funny and really drives home the point of how unnecessary it was for the director to lie to try and seem cooler (pun absolutely intended). Nobodyβs gonna throw a huge fit because it wasnβt super cold on the set every single day. Itβs cool, itβs just nature.
Potential new player here: So one of the only game stores that sell Malifaux around my area only have a few 2e boxes left (and I'm vaguely aware of the current status of 3e boxes)
Should I wait for the 3e boxes? I know some of them have slight changes to what models are in, and I really want the new Rasputina (bc she looks cooler, pun intended, I can't even find her 2r box in stores, and I'd like to paint the December Acolytes her 3e box comes with) but iirc she's gonna be distributed in like, 2020? Maybe even later. And nobody seems to have any stock for 3e except Burning Bridges, which doesn't even have a henchman I can lead it with
I think I'd like to get a taste of the game earlier than "whenever stuff gets restocked" but maybe I'm just being impatient.
Anyway: Available 2e boxes that I was interested in are Mei Feng, Sonnia Criid, Zoraida, Asami Tanaka, and Nellie Cochrane
I'm thinking of getting Sonnia because I read her abilities and aggro is something I understand (NO LOVE FOR WITCHLINGS) but also there's a part of me itching for shenanigans with Zoraida or Nellie, who is, the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Mei Feng and Asami are also extremely cool
Please help, I'm itching for TACTICS but I've also never played a miniatures game

Braved the cold for my first Snart photoshoot! The fact that there was a blizzard happening at the moment made this shoot SO MUCH COOLER!!! (pun totally intended)

I recorded a full review, but unfortunately my new laptop's audio driver is a piece of shit and I cut out a whole bunch, so I'm not gonna subject you all to that. I spent way too long trying to fix it and thought I finally had it but nope :(

> Moby Dick (13BRRR) 1 Supply, 6 HP > Prompt, Blocker, Lifespan 3 > Click: Gain XXXXX
I was definitely very nervous to pick this submission as the winner, as a large RR prompt blocker sounds like a very risky print, but I think that Moby Dick does a pretty reasonable job of pulling it off. The balance point seems to be in the ballpark where the unit's viability is contingent on the set's ability to support RR, and the dependence on prompt value combined with low lifespan (which is ticked a turn earlier because of the prompt) prevents this unit from being overbearing as a first buy. It's also cool that the ideal usage of Moby Dick is different every single turn (prompt absorb, then attack, then soak). It definitely felt like this was the most unique submission and hardest to make work, so I think it deserves the W.
Congrats Apooche! Message me soon TM with a theme idea for the following challenge.
u/micerang:
> Sleet sprayer (4BR), 1 Supply, 3 HP > Blocker > Click: add 1 chill to 3 adjacent units with the same name.
AoE chill is a mechanic that I think could be put in the game, and I think that this unit is a good attempt at it. The fact that units have to have the same name feels clunky to me since I think just an AoE chill would be cooler (pun intended), but then you run into the potentially unwanted mechanic of purchase orders mattering. Ultimately I think that putting this unit into the game would be fine, and it's a totally fair unit if a bit unsatisfying as a wall sidegrade.
u/Cogito3:
> Bone Melter (12BBRR), 4 Supply, 5 HP > Blocker > Click: Gain XXXX and lose 1 HP (permanently)
I think that this unit is an interesting concept but a bit too overtuned. This unit is way more efficient than Doomed Mech as an attacker, nearly as efficient as an absorber when factoring in the extra threat, and averts Doomed Mech's biggest restriction by not decreasing lifespan when you don't attack, meaning you can just buy this thing as early as you want with little to no drawback. Whether the +/- HP mec

I love all the small things on the game, like the Water Cooler or the Fire Pole. I think that, as insignificant as they may look, they improve a little bit the quality of life on the game. (Not no mention that they look cool and are fun to use).
β
So, I want to share some other "small things" that I wish existed on the game, because... why not?
β
-Size: 2-width, 2-height
-Requirements: Metal Ore to build, 50W to funcion.
-Gives: "Warm food" effect - +1 morale for 0.3 cycles.
-Why? - Because I think that the game lacks some "in-base" items. For Food Preparation we only have the Microbe Musher and the Grill. (Also because I would not want to have a cold meal taken directly from the Refrigerator if I was them)
β
-Size: 3w,2h
-Requirements: Raw Mineral to build, 10W and a Natural Gas intake to function. (Can only be operated by a Chef)
-Gives: "Food improvement" effect - This could be anything, from +1 in Food Quality (Meaning that a Mush Bar would pass from -1 Quality to 0) to something crazy like: "-5% stress for 0.3 cycles" or "+10% Immune System Strength for 0.2 cycles"
-Why? - Same thing as the Microwave. Also because I think a simple and ordinary oven would make the base feel a little bit more like home.
β
-Size: 1w,1h
-Requirements: Dirt
-Gives: "Happy Critter" effect - +1 happiness.
-Why? - As I said on the A Critters's Playground post, I believe that critters deserve to be happy too. A tile that is literally made of dirt makes a good place for the Hatches to burrow and hide. (They are nocturnal creatures after all)
β
-Size: 2w, 1h
-Requirements: Metal Ore to build, 10W to function.
-Gives: A nice breeze.
-Why? - It could help disperse a pretty small amount of heat, or help push gases down. It would also make the base look a little bit "cooler" (Pun intended)
β
That's all I could think of right now.
Once again, I think that these are small items that probably won't appear on the game, but I wish they could.
Hope you found them interesting.
So I was playing a fighter and decided to go full tank mode. I have 14 in my dex and had a shield and bought some scale mail which gave me an 18AC and the DM was always remarking my high AC was annoying and such, whenever he would roll hit me. I'm not going to lie, it felt real good to be the guy that always came out of the fight as if i had hardly taken any damage.
So after a couple of games like this we managed to wander into a super cool treasure horde. We killed the bad dudes guarding the treasure and i found "+1 Frozen Scalemail" I felt amazed the DM was giving me something that would boost my AC to 19 given he had already expressed his disappointment that he couldn't get me low on hp. AND it comes with cold damages resistance... even cooler!(pun intentional) But there was a downside, weakness to fire. That seemed fine. Everyone got something fun from the treasure plus some gold. We all went home happy.
Next session is when i realized i had been given a nerf. We were fighting dragon cultists and Kobolds which seemed to love targeting me with Burning hands, or create bonfire, and sometimes a fireball. In case you are unaware. These are all spells that require dex saves and completely ignore my monstrous AC AND i was taking x2 damage from all these fire spells. I was put down hard in each fight we had that session. I was amazing to see that the DM gave me a cool item and even boosted my defining trait in combat, my AC, but also found a way to ignore it.
So have any of you experience this? Seen that the DM has altered fights or found a way to stop you or another PC from doing something they thought was a little op?
Edit; I think this was cool, and while it did take away from my special snowflake i understand that my DM probably wanted the whole party to feel challenged not just the squishier PC's
I do an electronics as hobby and i know, that tha metal part on MOSFET Transistors is not only a third "leg" but also a heatsink, and most of the heat is going right there. But then why on the motherboards VRM heatsinks is place on plastic MOSFET case, that's almost doesn't heats?! Try to carefully put your finger at the backside of the motherboard underneath the MOSFETS - it's very hot! The more logical i see to put heatsink underneath the MOSFET, or put MOSFET on the side, like you often can see in most of the TDA sound amplifiers and inside of the TV's and others home appliances. I drove a little diagram to make understanding what i mean easier. Or the main purpose of these heatsinks is only to make the motherboard's look "cooler"? (pun intendeed)
P.S. Sorry for possible mistakes, English is not my primary language.

On one hand the pipe has a carb but the chillum seems cooler (pun intended) because i can see the smoke
For example: depth skin would feels waaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler if the material around it is wood texture of a sunk ship. Leaving some holes with Depth green screen in the middle

I'm seeing a lot of misconceptions of Ryzen cpu's lately and just want to make a post about it so i can link people to it in the future.
Ryzen CPU's are designed to run hot: https://i.imgur.com/3hkp7dV.jpg
I see tons of people worried about temps on their Ryzens, if its designed to run at certain temperatures, you should trust that and have faith in the product you purchased. Heres a neat video showing that heat and heat transfer are very different things, silicon is very durable stuff: https://youtu.be/Pp9Yax8UNoM
Many people come from intel cpus and are surprised when using ryzen and the temps are often higher, read on and have some faith in ryzen cpu's design.
Ryzen is designed to auto overclock itself, thats why you see a base clock and a boost clock listed. When PBO(performance boost overdrive) or auto oc is enabled in the bios, Ryzen will automatically regulate itself to provide the best performance possible from the cpu, it is very efficient at doing so, it will always try to reach the height of its boost clock and will only throttle once it hits its target temperature threshold, which is often around 80-90c.
For example, me and my friend both have a 5900x in our PC's, the only difference is he has a 360mm AIO and i have a wraith prism on mine. When we stress test the cpu, with PBO enabled, both our temperatures hit 85-90c, the only difference is his boost clock is able to reach over 5Ghz speeds, while mine caps around 4.75Ghz. So when people are asking if a new cooler will bring their Ryzen temps down, its not exactly how that works.
The reason it works this way is because as explained above, Ryzen with PBO enabled regulates itself, its constantly changing voltages and clocks between all the cores to reach its maximum efficiency before hitting its target temp after once it does, it'll start to throttle. If you are still uncomfortable with Ryzens designed temperatures, then you can optionally disable PBO/Auto OC and do a manual all-core clock and set a manual voltage, that way the voltage is locked and you can control what temperature you feel comfortable around, in this case.. a better cooler WILL help. if we locked the 5900x at 4.04Ghz @ 1.08v on a wraith prism, you might never go above 65c for example, but on an AIO you might see temps even lower than that, its because the voltage is locked and PBO isnt flucuating the voltages anymore, so it makes sense that 2 different coolers will have varyi
