I found this cone in a display and it had seeds in it. Does anyone know what type of conifer it is based on the seeds and the cone?

Some sort of conifer. The tree had no needles, not sure if itβs deciduous or sick (had plenty of these small cones though). Perhaps a hemlock species?

TIL Conifer trees do not produce berries, but can produce sweet meaty cones that resemble berries. Thus juniper berries, which flavor gin, are actually cones.

TIL that some coniferous trees are also deciduous. Larches use cones to disperse their seeds, and grow needles. They are among the dominant plants in the boreal forests of Siberia and Canada. Although they are conifers, larches are deciduous trees that lose their needles in the autumn.
