A list of puns related to "Comparison of train and tram tracks"
I want to build a recreation of Michigan City Indiana's section of the South Shore line. Basically, a commuter train transfers from regular track to street running like a tram, stops at a tram style station in the road median, then rejoins normal railroad tracks. Any other methods or suggestions for making street running commuter trains greatly appreciated
There is a recent surge in these crimes, with the murder in NYC recently and today I read about another one, attempted murder on a 55 year old woman by a 23 year old man in a Brussels metro station, which happened just a few days ago as well. Thankfully the train stopped in time.
Now I know this has to some degree always been a problem, but the recent resurgence and rate at which these crimes happen is absolutely chilling and soul crushing.
I remember a few years ago when I still had to take the train to uni there must have been at least one case that I read of in the papers, because I used to hook one arm round the metal railing and then linking the fingers of my hands, when waiting on the train, so if someone would try to push me I would be secured to the railing. As stupid as this sounds I was terrified enough to risk looking stupid. Or if there was no railing to always have my back against a wall when waiting so no one could sneak up on me. I stopped being on my phone and started always being super vigilant and keeping an eye on any males on the platform.
I remember feeling so scared and helpless and I really feel for all women who have to take public transportation to work/school/etc now. I can imagine how scared they must be right now.
[TW: SA] Public transportation fucking sucks for women. As a fresher I was sexually assaulted in a tram (random man came up to me and started fondling and pinching my vagina through my jeans) and people just watched and NO ONE (random men around me who saw it but pretended not to) helped me because I was so frozen in fear I couldn't even scream or move just a finger. It only stopped when the doors opened at the next station and I broke away and RAN. Thankfully he didn't follow me out.. As a result I now can't get on public transpo anymore without wearing a coat that goes down to my knees, so there is a physical barrier around me so no one can just reach between my legs and fondle.. The trauma of that definitely increased my fear of potential murder when the shovings started to happen.. So I ended up looking like a loony wearing long coats and hooking my arm round the railing haha.. fucking sucks, why can we not just live normally why do we always have to be hyper vigilant.. I am so tired..
I am so sick and tired of male violence it is everywhere and all the time, relentless. Just leave us alone!
As everybody knows Israel has an ever growing population which in the next decades will lead to quit dense cities. Now Israel has since the 90s put quit a focus on improving car infrastructure and strengthening car ownerships however maybe in an ever denser it has to expand its public transport systems in the cities, but most importantly also the train Lines between urban centers like Haifa, Tel Aviv or Beer Sheva and also smaller cities with about 50k inhabitants should have access to a train system.
I would assume that such a focus on public transport would improve the quality of live for most Israelis and is necessary in the next decade, but I wonder wether Israelis would be willing to give up a lot of car infrastructure for that?
What are your thoughts on that topic tough?
hello!
One of my favorite features of MoM is being able to switch stations from train to metro and vice versa.
With the new dlc, I'm finding i'm not given the option to toggle the tracks between train and metro. It works for just 1 station (the old town style elevated 4 track) but not for any others. I'd love any advice thanks so much!
We were having a discussion in the office and were drawing a blank so I thought I'd throw it open to the /r/Melbourne community.
Jan 16, 2022 I tried to make the last train. While waiting for the OAK tram to arrive at the airport, I asked the woman at the booth if I would make the last Richmond train. She radioed someone & said if you run from the tram, down the escalator...you should just make it.
I ran, got to within 10 feet of the back of the train and....the train left.
Has anyone ever thought of merging tram tracks and regular rails together so that we could have street running trains for realism/ease of serving certain parts of town? I have several towns with industry buildings too far inside to be serviced by rail. Yes I know I could use trucks but the rest of the town is serviced via rail so I wanted to see if something like this were possible.
