Yesterdayβs Coinstar reject haul. Yes a 1943 quarter and a 1943 S steel cent. I havenβt seen either of those in the wild for decades now. Suspect some clueless younginβ grabbed grandpaβs coin jar and went for a quick score. And that thereβs a fortune inside of that machine that someone else will get

TIL that in 1944, the US Mint made cents out of recycled brass shells spent in the war effort. Steel was used in 1943, but due to complaints over confusion between the steel cent and coins like the dime, the mint was pressured to make this creative change the following year.

This deceptively dark 1943 steel cent made me do several closer looks. Thought I had one of those precious few copper 1943's for sure! Oh well.

1943 Steel Cent
I saw someone selling a massive quantity of 1943 steel cents on eBay. I like the history behind them and wouldnβt mind buying a roll. I was just concerned if there is a good chance of the steel cents being faked since they are a unique (although not technically a super a rare) coin? Also would anyone recommend a good 50 penny tube for these guys?
Thanks!

1943 D Steel Cent no reverse, found in a lot bought years ago, can't find ANY info on Google...
Hi /r/Coins!
I bought an "unsearched" lot of 1943 steel cents over 12 years ago... it may have been longer! I have many, many coins that have errors. This one in particular I have never seen before and can't find any documentation for on Google. Any idea what something like this may be worth?

1943 Steel Cent Lamination Error Assistance
Quick question. Are there any 1943 Lincoln Steel Cent lamination errors? I know the composition is different and probably does aid to lamination error. Link to a website with more information or examples would be helpful.
I am trying to put together a wood grained wheat cent set and wanted to put something for 1943. Any other suggestions for 1943 besides lamination error that would fit with the wood grain set?
