A list of puns related to "Weeknight"
For me, living in Vietnam at present, it's some rice done quickly in the rice cooker, an "instant" bone broth (similar to stock cubes in the west) with some green leafy veg, maybe a potato or two and a chopped chicken breast. Rice soaks up the broth (seasoned with MSG, soy, fish sauce, touch of sugar/sweet chili/oyster sauce for the sweet), and it's delish.I won't lie, living where I do, I often buy real broth from the phα» vendors and then just add my own stuff.
Hey everyone! First post here. I just switched my job and now don't get off of work til 12:30 am. Anyone know any places that are open til around 2 on weeknights? Preferably around Midlothian turnpike or Hull st. since I live in that area, but I have to drive past downtown Richmond (I come from working in New Kent). Thanks in advance for any help!!

Recipe here originally: Easy White Pasta e Fagioli
I wasn't even going to post this as a recipe because the picture didn't turn out great, but I loved this soup SO much and it was so easy to make that I had to share!
My husband is a huge beans and greens fan but I love pasta e Fagioli, so I made a mashup haha. You can customize this a million different ways and you only need a few core ingredients:
Here's the full recipe:

I can cook mains all day. But when it comes to balance and keeping the plate interesting to eat outside of the mains, I struggle.
If it isn't a one pot dish or a sheet tray dish I'll usually do chicken thighs in some way over rice with veggies some way(roasted, air fried, etc...)
I'm really looking for either readymade side dishes y'all would recommend or some dishes that are quick to put together at home (10-20min prep 6 ingredients max).
We eat mostly ground turkey for protein but have steaks sometimes and lean ground beef. We're open to any side dish and love Banchan.
Hi There Internet,
I am in my mid 20s and I am looking to make some new friends here. Ya'll have any suggestions for places I go to meet people? Are there any good open mikes or cafe's or concerts that are popular to meet people?
Any of you guys have second jobs? With house price inflation being what it is, Iβm feeling the pressure to get a higher income so Iβll likely need a second job. Anyone have a good idea? I was thinking maybe security guard or just a stocker in a grocery store or something, maybe Iβll do that for a few years while I get more engineering experience so I can get a better engineering job.
My wife and I both work full time and have a 1 year old. We both work from home so that gives us a little bit of flexibility but we have been struggling with dinner ideas.
By the time we finish work, to start preparing dinner while the other does daycare pickup doesn't leave a lot of time to make anything fancy, especially because kid comes home hungry. Then we have to start bedtime routine and actually get kid to bed.
On weekends we try and do food prep, like make tomato sauce for pasta or make other meals that we can freeze and put in the oven during the week. I find it hard to come up with ideas for food that my wife and I will want to eat but also that we can give to our 1 year old. We enjoy spicy and like to make jerk chicken, jambalaya or some curry but that doesn't work so well for the little one. I know I can add the spice later but I've tried and it just doesn't taste the same. The dishes are always better when the meats can marinate in the spice.
My wife refuses to eat any fish or seafood so that also limits some options.
So far our go to meals during the week are:
-Pasta (ravioli, manicotti, penne) with either a tomato or Alfredo sauce
-Pasta caserole
-Chicken fajitas with rice
-Beef tacos with rice
-Subs (chicken or beef with peppers and onions)
-Baked chicken thighs or quarters with rice and a salad
-Meat balls and mashed potatoes and broccoli (or other veggies)
-Souvlaki with roasted potatoes
Let me know what meals work for you!

Recipe here originally: Pumpkin Curry Soup with Chickpeas
I've had a huge can of pumpkin puree in my pantry for over a year and I finally decided to bust it out. I made cookies with part of it and I still had about 2 cups leftover, so I decided to combine it with my other favorite pantry staple...chickpeas!
I always try to challenge myself to make cheap meals look expensive (lol) and this one was fun! The broth is so easy to make and you pile the chickpeas and sweet potatoes on top. If you're feeling really fancy, whip up the coconut cream and freeze it until firm so you can add a dollop on top of each dish.
Chickpeas: Any white bean will do
Sweet potatoes: Butternut squash, Yukon gold potatoes, acorn squash, mushrooms, or eggplant (cooking time will vary)
Pumpkin puree: You can also use butternut or acorn squash cubes and just blend the soup once they're tender. Will require more cooking time, though.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes

I canβt edit my title, but I should have said: βany adult who has a jammed ass schedule and canβt meet until laterβ.
Iβve wanted to play for a while, but the evenings are too chaotic with dinner, my husbands commute, bedtime, sitter coordination, and all that jazz for me to do in person.
Tell me if this is all a bad idea, or is this OK?
Context:
Wedding is a Saturday. Rehearsal is family only on Fri night. We leave for a 1.5 week honeymoon the Tues after. I am planning to take three days before the wedding off work. (weds-fri, then 1.5 weeks off work after wedding. 2 weeks off work total). My job is intense and that already feels like a lot of time off work.
Almost all of my closest female friends / sister live in other cities and states and are traveling to me for my wedding. Most either used to live here or are from my hometown. Only a couple close friends live here. I am sad about it actually, but luckily these out of town friends actually have remained great friendships. Lucky for that, but missing friends in close places. Covid didnt help.
I ALWAYS have said βfull blown destination bach parties are not for me.β Iβd like an old school bach party that lasts a few hours at a cool bar/club. Maybe a hotel that night, maybe. But its not going to be a more than a one evening thing. I live in a destination city already, and there is plenty to do here. So def no travel, even if I were to do it on a weekend. Most of the friends from out of state have expressed an interest in spending more time in my city.
Bach Party decisions: All this context led me to this idea: βhey, save the friends an extra flight and plan the bach party the week of the wedding during the time you took off work. They could come a couple days longerβsingle trip for them, instead of one trip for the bach party and a second trip for the wedding.β Seemed logical!
But now, I am second-guessing the bach party timing. Maybe some people donβt want to take too much time off work themselves, and were planning to come that Friday for the Sat wedding and leave Sunday. So by having a bach party mid-week I am effectively forcing them to take time off for me, when they might not have otherwise.
I am not having bridesmaids. I have one MOH, and groom has BM. We have too many siblings and friends and want a casual wedding. This means, Iβm just extending a bach party invite to a group of friends, not a designated bridal party.
I thought I was being chill and casual, but now I am wondering if some of these decisions actually put people out more than picking a weekend sometime before the wedding. The truth is that Iβd really rather not do thatβIf it were a weekend, it would have to be me entertaining these friends for more than one evening to make it worth their money,

About a month ago, I had new neighbors move in above me. There had previously been a tenant there, but I never had a problem with them. The unitβs living room is directly above my bedroom, and they enjoy listening to loud music at any and all hours of the day and night. I have to be up for work at 6 am every weekday, and since theyβve moved in, every other night, theyβre up until 2-3 am blasting their music. My sleep schedule has been desecrated and itβs showing in my work performance. They usually start the concert around 9 pm and it just carries on all night. Iβve tried melatonin and I have an appointment with my doctor to maybe get something stronger. Iβve tried sleeping with ear plugs in, but Iβm HoH and ended up waking up late for work one day.
Iβm at my wits end.
Iβve considered leaving them a note, but I donβt want to start any drama. My next step would be to go up there on a night where theyβre being loud and ask them to be mindful that other people in the building are trying to sleep, but again, I donβt want to start any drama. The only other thing I can think to do is to let the building manager know, Iβve read through my lease and thereβs nothing about quiet times or how to make a noise complaint. I know Iβm not the only person bothered by this, itβs keeping my roommate up as well. It has to be bothering our other neighbors
Weekends I donβt care about. They can stay up all night for all I care.
So I come to you Reddit, would I be an a-hole if I went up there and asked them to stop or left a note? Or should I just go directly to the building manager.
Just moved here and want to play some jazz as much as possible
I asked for cookbooks for Christmas and got two that, while nice, are either a) dishes for entertaining/holidays or B) include ingredients that are expensive or I wonβt have on-hand like duck, saffron etc. I find that so many cookbooks are either gimmicks or have complicated and time-consuming βshowoffβ recipes.
Thanks for your interest - the party has now been filled. I apologize for not reaching out to everyone, there were a lot of great sounding players but I just don't have enough hours in a week to send that many messages.
Weβre a husband/wife duo that have been playing RPGs together for the last 2 years. COVID and having kids murdered our social life, so weβd really like to open our table to a normal-sized group. This isnβt the traditional looking-for-party post in that weβre not looking for a focused long-term campaign, weβre looking for a casual group of friends to play games with every week.
Iβm usually the GM (I actually prefer it, I feel less socially anxious/exhausted when Iβve got something to do). The thing is Iβm kind of a big softy but child-rearing really eroded my patience for managing challenging personalities, so Iβm good with teaching new players, organization, empathy, and communication, but Iβm not good with crusty βThat Guy at the Game Storeβ types. Power-gamers, rules-lawyers, and intense thespian-types would also probably be a poor match for us.
The table vibe I aim for is like a neighborhood kickball team. I try to follow the rules as intended, but without stopping to look them up in-session. Try your best, but if losses happen, laugh it off and roll with the punches. I'm mostly interested in creating a story together without focusing so much on βwinningβ or being perfect. We really just want to let our hair down and have fun for a few hours without it getting too heavy or argumentative.
99% of my games are published modules: I prefer working with premade plots, art, maps, etc. and customizing them for a group. I roll in the open most of the time and use maps/handouts frequently. I shoot for games balanced between social roleplay, exploration, and combat. We use Discord and either Fantasy Grounds Unity or Foundry, depending on the ruleset.
~~Weβre most experienced with D&D 5E, but are very interested in migrating to Pathfinder 2E. We've also either liked or want to try out Call of Cthulhu 7E/Delta Green, and Alien RPG. We like games with a medium/medium-light amount of crunch. We tend to avoid games that are rules heavy or expect an enormous amount of improvisation. It takes me months to read a rulebook though, so we wonβt be constantly dancing around different games and Iβd never run a game that everyone wasnβt intere
