A list of puns related to "Walter Dean Burnham"
There is this guy who wants to write a movie. But the movie he is writing does not feature hatred towards Rachel Hollis's books. I AM SUING THE PUBLISHER
Hey all! New to using reddit as a space to share ideas, but feeling quite isolated as a new teacher (and only 9th grade teacher!) in my school without opportunity for check-ins around professional growth; so I'm reaching to the internet!
I'm thinking of doing a unit on Monster by Walter Dean Myers. My students want to read a mystery or a graphic novel, and Monster has been made into a graphic novel, so I thought it would be a cool fit. That said I've never taught it before. I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is on teaching this to 9th grade and if anyone has any rad lesson plans they've used or come across in teaching this.
Another question that I'm circling around in my own brain is: Would this book be a good choice to teach to a predominantly white class? I am attempting to undo the white supremacy rampant in the English curriculum at my PWI and am trying to be conscious of the books I choose. But without collaboration, it's been tough. Currently, I'm walking the line of bringing in books that shed light on real issues and non-dominant identity voices and stories, yet not reinforcing perhaps already ingrained stereotypes due to lack of previous exposure to non-dominant identity experiences. I believe I can teach with nuance and sensitivity, but am still hoping for advice/suggestions.
Thanks all!
Just a single moment. An instant. Not a chorus or a full song. Just a moment.
Even after all of the Inside hype, I don't think a single Boment gives me chills like
"Part me loves you / Part of me hates you / Part of me needs you / Part of me fears you" in Can't Handle This.

Edit:
Thank you everyone for all your questions. It is time for me to leave (I will try to find some time to return to this later), but if you would like to check out more of my books, Fallen Angels is available as an ebook for the first time at Zola Books, and Invasion was recently published by Scholastic.
I get that the shows based around her, it just doesnβt seem very smart yet itβs completely accepted by starfleet in this show.
Hello,
I only recently really started listening to bo's songs since Inside came out.
They have really helped me, I've been struggling for a while but listening to the songs on inside just seems to make me feel better.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for songs or artists that are similar to bo. Thank you all.
If I was transported into the future I would totally look up what happened to old friends and family. Has Burnham done this?
I think it's a missed opportunity to discuss the crew's reaction to tragedies in their family's history.
Itβs Chipp McCapp. Having a hard time not hating his face since Iβve seen parks a million times and I know this asshole.
y'all i am starting to think I dreamt this book. I remember thinking it was very mature but I was also in 5th grade; so written before like 2005. My memory is SO murky on this, but I remember a scene with docks, the kids are the protagonists, but the parents are very involved. Definitely gave off Giver-esque vibes, but itsn't anything Lowis Lowry. H E L P please
I am creating a unit for 8th grade ELA around the topics of prejudice/intolerance/inequality. My school has some copies of this book but I havenβt read it. If you think it would fit into my unit, Iβll give it a read.
I've unpinned the "Links to good stuff" post, so if you want to catch up on all of Bo's AMAs, note to the sub, previous Year In Reviews etc: here
In the intro for the 2020 Year In Review I wrote : ββ¦2020 ended up being fairly quiet professionally for Bo, as 2020 played havoc with release schedules, promotion, and live performances.β
Little did we know that while it seemed quiet to us, Bo was hard at work creating his first special in five years.
So letβs take a look back at Boβs professional activities, accomplishments, re-discovery of his social media, other things of interest, and what we got up to here on the sub. Some links are direct to the source, some are via our discussion threads here.
Video version coming shortly to my Bo YouTube channel. Edit: Video version!
#January
Bo appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to promote Promising Young Woman, the film he starred in that was shot in Spring 2019 for an April 2020 release, which was ultimately delayed until December 2020.
The film was well received and Bo was specifically mentioned as a stand out in many reviews. It became available to stream mid-month.
Chris Rock re-edited his 2018 comedy special "Tambourine" that Bo directed, removing Bo's credit
#March
Bo went on the Pop Culture Confidential podcast to discuss PYW.
Promising Young Woman was released on Blu-Ray and DVD
In the first new news in a long time, it was announced that Bo would be playing Larry Bird in a new HBO special.
