In the Bible, the serpent tempted human to taste the fruit of the tree of knowledge. And then the they knowing their inferiority, realized their nakedness.

The innocent child, who by nature is also Adam and Eve, also learns about his inferiority and the gate, which in the series is the equivalent of knowledge and gets a name Wrath. The Philosopher's Stone is also an allegory of the forbidden fruit

In the book of Genesis, the motives of the Serpent are unknown and there is still debate whether it is an incarnation of Satan and an independent creation, the only one besides human who has a mind in Eden. The only more or less canonical evidence that I have found is a passage from the Book of Wisdom of Solomon

"God created man for incorruption, and made him the image of His eternal existence; but by the Envy of the Devil death entered into the world, and those who belong to his lot experience it."

Even if we are talking about an animal created with the rest, it is called the most cunning of all. And just like the Devil, he is older in origin than man, and perhaps he also felt envy towards the beloved divine creation, because like it he possessed intelligence.

I have dream to share. Last night I was having a dream where I was in some public space, like a warehouse or something, working and moving boxes, and there was this big TV that was showing porn on it. In fact, there were several, but one had caught my attention, but I ignored it. Then, in the dream, I believe satan took the image of my best friend and started commenting on the porn and trying to get me to watch, since I had my back to it and was ignoring it. I looked, and realized it was one of the pornstars that I used to really liked (And know a bit of her story and feel terrible for her), but instead of being turned on I was just apathetic, as I have been trying to ignore all lust in my life. Then, he started to talk really vulgar about this girl, and saying some of the things that I used to think in my heart about her, and my heart was hurt and I looked away, ashamed. Like I said, I know a little bit about this girl's story and I used to think terrible things, so this one is a sore spot for me. Then, something overcame me, and I looked at him and I happily started preaching the gospel to him. Jesus overcame me and rebuked the devil for me, it was amazing. It was like I was talking to the devil but I was also talking to my friend, and trying to help him come back to God. It was an interesting feeling.

I told him (not exact words):

"Porn keeps us from God. This perverts our mind and causes us to be fallen, and separate from him. When we pray to him in this state he can't hear us because we are separate from him and it keeps on causing us to be far from him, because when we are looking at porn we are not his children. We lift our prayers to him, and He hears us, but since we are not his children, he does not intervene. Yet, he loves us so much that it hurts him when we are like this, and his love can overcome our sin. If we humble ourselves and realize porn is evil, he can hear us and he can help us be free again.

I just wanted to share this dream as proof that even in your dreams, which you cannot control, Jesus is there. He can rebuke the devil for you while you are weak. Lean on him! Seek his face! God is Good. He is a faithful God and he can deliver you from this temptation.

The Tempter normally takes place in Barovia and is tied to Curse of Strahd. But with a few changes, it works in Ravnica!

My changes to the plot:

Marilena Fiditov is a minor Orzhov noble from a long line of Orzhov nobles. She is throwing a party to celebrate the completion of her new mansion and invites the party. If there are any Orzhov, you can make her a distant relative to the party member. Or perhaps she has heard of their exploits and is seeking to make a contact. In my party, she was trying to get our Orzhov, a distant cousin, to use his influence with the Living Guildpact to enrich her branch of the family.

A few of the pieces of information gained during the party have to change:

• Marilena has taken great care and spent great expense to move her family crypt exactly as it was.

• The Fidetovs have always hoarded their wealth rather than keep it in banks

• In building the mansion, a coven of hags was forced off the land. Before they left, the hags declared this curse: "You will be cursed by your wealth and greed with eternal unrest!"

So there you go, a few simple changes and the adventure works perfectly as a horror-based one-off.

The Fidatov hoard is cursed, so if the players take it they will suffer the curse, which is described in the module. To remove the curse they can track down and kill the hags, return the wealth to the crypt at the cost of 1 workweek or 500 GP, or donate it to charity. If they seek out a cleric and pay for 'remove curse' or one of the party attempts it, they will sense that they can't remove the curse with the spell. A Divination spell will reveal the methods of removing the curse. It doesn't have to be the exact same coins, just the equivalent.

When he came for me, I was 16.

I was half dressed, still in funeral soaked clothes. My fingers stretched for the first sharp thing in my reach.

“Oh.” The word slipped from my lips, heavy with dulled surprise. “That’s not going do anything.” I said, staring down at my brow shaver.

The man before me laughed full and hearty as I set down the tiny blade and stared at him. His eyes crinkled charmingly at the corners as he coughed out the final sputters of his amusement. My room ringed with the presence of someone other then me.

By then I had sunk a penknife into his thigh, and had stepped back, observing the pearling of dark tar at the entry wound. He kept his smile, dimpling genially at me as he slid it out from the clenches of the muscle. The wound gaped open, winking at me from where he kneeled.

And he was no longer there.

The next time the man I stabbed brought a white chrysanthemum for me. I eyed it, then the figure before me.

I stood, his eyes locked on me as I slid out of bed and toed my feet into my Pusheen slippers. Winters here where wonderfully cold-but my floors where unheated and I detested carpets.

I took the florid green stem from him, smelt the subtle sweetness emanating forth from its creamy smears of petals. I pressed it back into his hand. The man, achingly perfect in his whittled appearance, smiled at me.

“This is a funeral flower.” I said, remembering the smell of my grandmother’s funeral, two weeks ago. Incense still stuck to the white hem of my school skirt. My dreams featured monotone chants as backing tracks.

“Thank you.” I patted his hand, and went back to bed, tottering.

I pulled out an ear bud, fingers pausing in their skittering to switch tabs. He leaned over to pull out the other, brushing close to me, heady scent of musk blooming from his throat. He wore my school’s uniform for boys, shirt loose, unbuttoned to show a sliver of his chest.

“I’m watching something.” I said, head blurring as I tried to control my heavy tongue.

“Do you like that man?” He asked, pointing to an actor on my screen.

The features of the man shifted, bone and cartilage snaking under skin, there was ominous spitting and hissing, as he settled into a perfect clone of the actor. I could see the roguish, full-lipped grin and sun-warmed skin.

CRACK! The man's fist hit the wall with force to knock down a painting. He retracts his fist, leaving some red upon the white paint.

His anger I can feel from here. Fascinating. I just got here. This should be simple.

The man walks over and slumps down into the recliner chair. The woman who paused for a moment, resumes yelling at him.

She's very bold. Even I would be cautious at this point.

The man looks up at her, asking her to leave him alone. She throws some papers at him. Receipts.

Hairspray. Sundress. Designer shoes. I somehow don't think he's a crossdresser, so they must be hers.

He yells back at her, saying not to spend so much. The woman accuses him of not treating her to the life she deserves.

My oh my. What shall I do here? What CAN I do here? It wouldn't be difficult to tip him over the edge, but that would be so utterly conventional.

I shift onto his shoulder whisper into his ear. "Life she deserves? What about the life you deserve? You dropped out of highschool, ran away from your foster parents and joined the Marines. Now here you are, experienced welder and machinist, in constant demand. But not even you can satiate her fathomless desires."

The man looks down, ignoring her continued yelling. Neighbors in adjacent rooms debate whether to file a noise complaint.

I shift onto his other shoulder to whisper into that ear. "You're a capable man. You're strong and tall. Yet what does she give you? When was the last time she was affectionate to you? When was she last NICE to you?"

The man grabs some of the receipts lying on the cheap flooring. He rips them.

"Good good, take control. You're better than this. She's just a harlot. Nothing before you."

The woman gasps, covering her mouth with her hands. 'Get out!' she yells.

"For once she's right. Your future isn't here. Act on it."

The man goes to his room, grabbing his keys, his wallet, his manila envelope of important documents. He shoves some clothes from his dresser into a bag. The woman has stopped yelling.

"Yes, yes that's it. You know what to do."

The man walks through the doorway, leaving the door open. The woman looks surprised, then frightened. She rushes to the door, saying to come back.
