Why wasn't it just called "Islam" at that time? Did the word "Islam" only appear recently in the western world?
I would really like to know how it got the name "Mohammedanism" and why they didn't just refer to it as "Islam" back then.
Or my question may be way off, and it was just a weird Prairie thing that my mom's school did.

I'd say the old terms are more correct as the emphasis has for centuries been much more on the messenger than on the actual message.

Since the appointment of Danish Iqbal as the new permanent General Secretary of Mohammedan SC, the club has become pro-active with the plans of playing in ISL. Although the officials have resorted from giving out any information on this, if the rumours are to be true then Mohammedan might rope in Ambuja Cements Ltd. as their new investor for playing in ISL. Reports suggest that Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, would also lend a helping hand to Mohammedan. Apart from Mohammedan, Gokulam Kerala FC and Punjab FC might also play 2022-23 ISL. What do you guys feel about this? Should Real Kashmir FC be given more priority than Punjab FC, as they have proven to be a better club and who wouldn't want to watch snowy ISL matches ;b ?
