Mr Deputy Speaker,
We have seen a raft of anti-China legislation in this house, much of it appropriately weighted. I bring this motion forward to the House as the cherry on top. In recent weeks numerous organisations and nations have come to the conclusion that it is undeniable that there is a state led genocide of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang Province.
As proud lovers of human rights and civil liberties it is only right we enact the strongest measures possible against those at the heart of these endeavours and make it as difficult as possible for them to enact their heinous crimes.
While many in the House will complain and roll their eyes at the sight of further China debate I plead with them to find it in themselves and vote conscientiously once more.

PBCโs matchmaking is easily worse than DAZN or Top Rankโs matchmaking and it canโt be argued. So this will be a piece going through 10 of 2020โs and this yearโs mismatches.
Mismatch 1: David Benavidez Vs Ronald Ellis
How the actual fuck is this sanctioned as a WBC Title Eliminator, Benavidez I get it, he is a former champion who is incredibly irresponsible. But Ellis? In his last fight which was a 161 Pound Catchweight bout, he missed weight by 5 pounds and was getting beaten by Matt Korobov until he got injured. So how is this sanctioned and especially a main event? So I see the WBC rankings for both, this is a #1 vs #8 Fight which is strange when Ellis is over ranked. So logically, Benavidez would fight someone higher ranked like the #3 Lemieux or the #5 Jacobs, but no. It is just corruption how this fight is a title eliminator, simple as that.
Benavidez Vs Angulo was a joke as well for a non-mandatory title defense, PBC could have matched David with anyone like a unification with Plant or a fight with Jacobs, Ryder or Lemieux but no.
Mismatch 2: Andy Ruiz Vs Chris Arreola
This fight is a joke and this is somehow a $75 PPV. This is a Top 5 Heavyweight, the former champion facing a guy that isnโt ranked in any sanctioning body, hasnโt fought in a year and a half, and they are nowhere near in their prime. The former champion in Ruiz should fight someone like Ortiz or Martin which would get him a good spot for a eliminator, not fucking Chris Arreola. The fact that this is a $75 PPV makes this worse.
Mismatch 3: Erislandy Lara Vs Thomas Lamanna
I donโt think this needs a explanation honestly. A top 5 Light Middleweight vs a guy that I donโt even think is ranked in the Top 70 nor is ranked at any sanctioning body at 154 Pounds. Lara should fight someone like Hurd, Harrison, Rosario, Soro or Williams not this Napoleon Dynamite looking ass.

Itโs astounding to me how many cans make it to mandatory positions.
Look at the most recent one in Yildirim, heโs nowhere near world level yet heโs sharing the ring with Canelo.
Or someone like Andrade whoโs been a champ for years but hasnโt had a decent mandatory to even put on his resume.

I am now the mostly well-liked author of 2 motions on China. One upon recognising the malign influence it is taking within the UN, and one urging the government to sanction officials involved in the genocide in Xinjiang Province. For some this would make me a hawk, the former Phoenix Government Defence Minister actually complained at the time when I introduced my China UN motion as it wasnโt interesting enough for them. Maybe I shouldโve done another European country instead. Iโve launched both of these motions with the support of my hard working friends and colleagues in the Democratic Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, a group whose members have created important changes on a various number of issues pertaining to China. Now, we are not hawks, far from it in fact. Many of us are just decent people who have a strong respect for the rule of law, Civil Liberties and Human Rights all 3 of which China sorely lacks.
Never in recent history has the international community been so sure of a genocide taking place without taking some form of notable action. While of course, notable action in these specific circumstances is incredibly limited, we can still take some measured acts. This is why I am calling upon the government to place sanctions directly upon those involved with the genocide of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang province. We are sending a message that we know whatโs going on and we are not afraid to confront it. I hope this is a message which our international partners around the world join us in and we can send together. I know I have the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs support on this matter and I am entirely grateful for it.
The sanctions also serve a more physical role. While their impact would be limited if it was done in a purely U.K. sense, as an international approach these sanctions could and will make the operations in Xinjiang Province that little bit more difficult. As the Leader of the Opposition said, this wonโt enact a change in policy, far from it, but itโs a start and thatโs what matters.
I hope everyone from around the House will join together and support me in the Aye lobby. When it comes to a matter of conscience I have the greatest respect for every single member of the House.
