I've seen a lot of posts here where people get upset that other subs, crypto enthusiasts, etc don't care about Cardano's future in Africa and some have gone as far as to call it a conspiracy. And with the amount of stupid shit that gets people excited it's unfortunate that cardano doesnt.
While i am very optimistic and excited, I think it is completely reasonable and rational for most people not to care yet.
Let's be honest, crypto is full of promising projects which failed to take off. You can have all the partnerships and plans in the world and still have a failure to launch. The pope himself could say he will start tokenizing sainthood and selling it on Cardano and most people wouldn't care because they are used to the projects fizzling out.
Like other people here, I think Cardano is different. Being an early adopter can be rewarding, but requires patience and being mature about the fact that you hold a divergent viewpoint.
Now I am worried that the reputation of Cardano is going from quiet intellectual to nano-level shill. That will actually turn people away.
Admittedly we live in one of the sunniest/highest average UV index places on the planet.

My wife has become insanely sun-phobic to the point of interfering with life. She will not go out during the day unless necessary and it's a major hassle if we do. I understand wearing sunscreen, very cool.
I understand even on cloudy days sun damage can occur due to varying atmospheric conditions that are not intuitive.
The issue is this: Between the hours of 3 PM and about 7 PM only the north facing rooms recieve direct sunlight while the south facing rooms do NOT. She will not allow ANY natural light inside the south facing rooms which are not receiving direct sunlight because she doesn't want to apply sunscreen due to it being irritating or inconvenient to apply. She will not compromise. If I expose any space in the house to indirect light through a window we end up in a confrontation and she leaves the area.
This is insane right? Like the light coming in the house is very dim and indirect and the sun is on the other side of the house. Is this really dangerous? She showed me a photo of some lady who sat in front of a window the same way everyday and one side of her face was significantly more aged, I argued that she must have been in more intense/direct sunlight and it was not the cause of late day indirect light entering through her windows.
If I'm wrong please let me know. I can't imagine never experiencing natural light in my own home. I spend a lot of time outdoors and admittedly do not use sunscreen as much as I should so I may just be insensitive.
Don't know if it's important but we have double paned windows in our house.

I'd be interested to learn about what is most important to students if they rent in a non-student flat, and what you all think it's actually reasonable so you can still have a life.
They are the people who agonize over and over again about some asshat saying "kill all cops" or "I hate men", but don't give the time of day to listen to the millions of people explaining how they are affected by police brutality or misogyny. This is a common occurrence with my straight/white/male/cis peers.
I remember a discussion I had with my roommate about police brutality and he was picking apart the details of the Breonna Taylor case. He was giving statistics about how police kill white people. He asked me why it's so easy to believe the idea that police kill black people. I was like, I don't have any statistics to pull out of my pussy right this moment, but if an overwhelming amount of black people are protesting and saying "hey, can you guys stop killing us?" I am going to fucking believe it's a problem.
I never understood why I got so angry at these friends who reasonably call out some of those extreme statements, but it's because they NEVER acknowledge the reasonable ones.

I am fairly new to chiropractic care and would like some feedback whether the care plan created by my doctor is reasonable?

This is the main x ray, but I can post the whole bunch if needed.
Backrgound: 31 yr old female, desk job, fairly active (walk my dog a lot, yoga (not so much during covid) and swimming). Healthy weight. Neck and mid-back pain over 5+ years, getting worse. Right shoulder hurts a lot and impedes my work outs. Really bad TMJ and sinus inflammation (roto rooter surgery was a fail). Went to an MD first who said I was fine and gave me pain pills.
This Chiro said that my spine has shifted forward quite a bit with mild scoliosis and that's why I have all this pain. I went to 4 treatments where he adjusted me and used a cold laser, after which I am feeling a lot better. He gave me the following treatment plan.
Crisis care: 2X a week for 10 weeks:$60 for adjustment and $60 for laser; $120 per visit
Maintenance: 1X a week for 1 year: $60 adjustment and $30 laser (excepts lesser time with laser): $90 per visit
Follow up x rays/tests every 3-4 months which are extra.
No contracts or memberships. Pay as you go or split the total into 12 monthly payments. My choice.
My questions:
- Is the crisis care plan too long? My friends tells me that crisis care should last 3-4 weeks. not 12 (counting the 2 weeks already).
- Is the cost of the laser reasonable? His assistant uses it on my sinus area and shoulder/neck for 15-20 minutes.
- Is the maintenance plan too frequent? Again, my friends tell me that their maintenance is once a month.
$500 a month for a year is kinda expensive for me. The only thing making me consider this is the pain relief has been wonderful and the cold laser has allowed my sinuses to drain and breathe freely for the first time in year. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'm a student and I'm just genuinely curious because these past few days I've had to deal with shitty online teachers because they just can't understand things happen at home. Like the internet randomly shutting off for periods of time, or technical difficulties, and sometimes even a family emergency. Everytime I try to explain this to them they always say "You need to learn better time management skills." or "It's not my job to make sure everything goes right for you to turn in an assignment." It's honestly very frustrating when I genuinely want to do good in a class but shit like this happens.
In an encouragement call with a Territory leader back in my leadership days (i.e. about a year ago), the Territory YMD leader said something along the lines of, "Chief Ryo is driving an hour to home visit a YMD at MIDNIGHT TONIGHT! If Chief Ryo can do that, how much can we commit ourselves to this movement?"
The call was on a Sunday, and it was a three-day weekend. I feel it wouldn't have mattered if Ryo visited that guy at midnight, noon, or at the crack of dawn because he was probably off the next day anyways. And I cringed so hard on the inside when they address anyone as "chief".
This is the kind of nonsense "encouragement" that's spewed to the youth leaders to get us "moving". The notion that our efforts are compared to the national leader's actions is completely ridiculous. If they really want us to "engage" in activities, why would you compare us to something as ridiculous as driving an hour and visiting someone at midnight? Why can't you just call them?

Brand new teacher here. I teach graphic design and video production (for now) after being a freelance professional for five years.
We have purchased the Adobe suite for my computer lab but I can’t get it installed. A few weeks ago the IT department told me they would do it, but basically I’m now being told to do it myself.
I’ve tried for several hours across three days and have not had any success. There’s a lot of IT lingo about admins and deploying packages and what not that I just don’t understand. I’ve used adobe for the past five years on my personal machines but have no idea how to set up device licenses for 20 computers.
Is it unreasonable for me to expect this to be taken care of? I’m not even an admin on the account and have to use someone else’s email to login and try and get it installed. Now I’m a week behind on my lessons because we don’t have photoshop or illustrator.
