Optical Measurement Programs/Devices

I'm not having much luck searching online for what I'm looking for. What kind of devices or programs are there for measuring semi-critical dimensions? Something that has a calibrated camera that I can just place an object on a table and the computer generates the basic outline with dimensions. I feel like there should be such a thing but I'm only finding small machines. Anyone with some insight on this sort of thing?

*Edit* Adding that the object needing to be scanned is literally just a circle (ID/OD needed). No 3D rendering needed.

Optical Devices

New guy here so not sure if it’s mentioned in lore, I would assume night vision goggles, thermal goggles, or any other devices that can track sleepers in the dark or fog like sonar would help so much more than a bio tracker, but these were never used. Sleepers don’t get triggered by fog machines or glow sticks so I guess they won’t get trigger for the things above either. From gameplay perspective I totally get the design, but did the lore ever mention this?

need help with my optical device setup

Hi,

I decided to upgrade from my cheap eotech clone and am looking to get a scope + rmr setup for my ak04. I found out about this vector optics 1-4 scope, and it seems to be a good option. Does anyone have experience with this scope? What are some cheap rmr scopes I could slap on top of it? And do you think this mount would be compatible with the optic and an rmr without blocking anything?

I would like the setup to look similar to this:

It seems like Google glass might be back. I see a lot of job postings. And they are using MEMS technology. It's not surprising that Google uses LBS/MEMS technology since they acquired North Focal sometime back which is built on MEMS technology.

Help me identify this optical drive/the missing part so that I can repair this specialized device?

Hi everyone,

I apologize if this is off-topic, and if there are suggestions for a better place to ask this please do let me know.

I have a specialized device that has a built in slot-loading optical drive. The drive is custom-built for the device. It might be an IDE or SATA interface, but it's definitely a custom design for this particular board - it does not interface via any standard connector to the mainboard.

The issue is that I believe a part may be missing or something else has broken. The drive inject mechanism works fine, but the roller that pulls the disc in and pushes it out is loose on one end and ends up resting on the disc, preventing the disc from spinning when it is in the drive. It appears something might be missing that should be holding the roller in place.

This particular drive is unique to this device, but I'm sure that the mechanism itself is likely some sort of standard mechanism. I'd be willing to buy another optical drive to sacrifice it for a part or even an entire top shell if something would be compatible with this drive to fix it. Therefore, my real goal here is to identify this particular mechanism and see if I can find a similar drive to strip for parts that would be able to repair this part.

I have tested the drive itself and the drive is good. If I remove the entire top mechanism, take out the magnetic clamp, drop a disc on the spindle and put the clamp on top, the drive will read the disc just fine. The issue is specifically the roller touching the disc stopping it from spinning.

The machine in question is from around 2005 and is long discontinued, so any service on the manufacturer's part is out of the question, and service manuals are unlikely to exist since by this era they were pretty hard to get without an NDA.

The Imgur post below shows the internals of the drive and the issue I am having.

Thanks for any advice you can give! Again, if this is too off-topic could you please suggest where else this might be more appropriate?

------

EDIT: I have made some additional discoveries since the post.

I was able to determine that the optical drive is an IDE slimline drive, and identifies itself as a Plextor PX-S88T drive. Looking up the manual for this drive indicates that it is an 8x8x24 slimline laptop-style CD-RW drive. However, the manual shows the drive being a traditional tray-loading laptop drive, not a slot-loading one.

Additionally the motor t
