A list of puns related to "Natural Rubber"
Itβs not my first time in Thailand, living quite minimalistic, but this time I want to fix one thing, which is limiting my environmental impact. Also, itβs an improvised trip so I arrive with no clothes and else (edit: not for Thailand climate and tourist lifestyle) , not even flip flops.
Part of this is trying to find sustainable or natural material, and produced in the region as much as possible (eco-friendly + fair). I used to wear and use either cheap local stuff, or have clothes made of technical materials, extremely practical (think 3-4 of each clothes item, used for 3 years, fast dry, no iron, etc). But I canβt shake the thought that itβs made of fossile oil derivative in the end, so it wonβt degrade (just turn into micro-plastic, best case), and, well, just spot a beach in the region before it is hand cleaned by the local resort, you can see how plastic never disappear, just floats away. My typical joke is that if you lost your flip flops you will probably find your size on a beach before itβs cleaned, just not a matching pair.
Anyway ; Iβm now interested in finding natural material made, like natural rubber from fair trade, leather, or hemp, etc. I can go habayanas but whatβs the point of importing from Brasil what is also produced in the region, am I right?
Anyone knows of any shop in Phuket, preferably in the south part of the island?
Edit: so in the end I went the ridiculous way of getting habayanas, coz natural rubberβ¦ from Brazil. Natural material for the worst carbon footprint. All Thailand or local sources brand i found online weβre US based. Iβm still up for recommendations for the future, these habayanas can only last for so long
I have tried a few DIY methods, but to no avail. Heat is an obvious problem, so a quick try with a track saw became a sticky mess within seconds. A fresh blade on a utility knife does cut cleanly, but it's hard to get consistent, square cuts.
So, who has the solution? Is there any cutting/milling or laser process you see as fit for the job?
Thanks!
Hello guys !
I have to do a LCA on SimaPro and the product is made out of Natural Rubber but this isn't in the database (I am using EcoInvent 3.0). I was looking for a substitute but the only one I could think of is Latex. Do you think it is good or does it differs a lot ?
Note that I am only assessing the end of life of the product so it doesn't matter if the production is different to Natural Rubber.
Thanks in advance !
