Are you seeking an opportunity to gather with fellow emerging songwriters among a community that celebrates, embraces, and supports songwriters? If so, I encourage you to enter the Kerrville Folk Festivalβs 2022 Grassy Hill New Folk Competition for Emerging Songwriters.
Entries are welcome from a diverse array of subgenres including, but not limited to Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Country, Global Roots, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Old-Time, Zydeco, or various fusions as long as the songs are original compositions of the artist making the submission.
Being selected as a New Folk finalist carries considerable prestige in the singer-songwriter community. This is in part due to the peer-professional judging and the Festival's long history of recognizing emerging artists who have later gone on to wider success. Recent finalists include Shawn Byrne, Sav Buist of The Accidentals, Sam Robbins, Shanna in a Dress, Liz Longley, Mac Leaphart, Angela Parrish, Liv Greene and Scott Mulvahill. Shawn Colvin, Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, The Flatlanders, and Lucinda Williams were also New Folk Finalists.
The following is a link to information on the contest, including the site to submit your songs.

Iβd like to think he wasnβt really aware of how serious the situation was but heβs getting a lot of shit so what do I know
Itβs free and there is all kinds of fun things to do and see. Donβt forget the selection of beer and food! Iβm not in anyway affiliated, just trying to spread the word. Check out the schedule, performers and vendors: https://nationalfolkfestival.com
"Dozens of excited people packed the festival grounds at Brownβs Island Saturday for the first full day of the Richmond Folk Festival, put on by Venture Richmond."
Dozens? Surely there were more people than that?
"Parking spots in the area were hard to come by as people were parking and walking several miles to get to the action."
Several miles?
