A list of puns related to "Motte"
There's trade rumors that teams are interested in him and from a business standpoint, I get it.
But he's the type of player to always go 110% even when the rest of the team is looking down right depressing. I got reintroduced to hockey in the bubble playoffs so seeing him score on breakways was thrilling. His openness to talk about mental health is refreshing, especially because I feel like Vancouver as a city isn't doing too good on that department.
Anyways, I'm sad to see him potentially go.
Love seeing him get some recognition. One of my faves for sure. #64
Chief moderator ZorbaTHut was lying around the moderators' secret pleasure palace, enjoying his caviar and figs, when he was rudely interrupted. "Sir, sir, it's a catastrophe!" It was [your least favorite moderator], bloviating as usual. "Sir, you must come immediately, an emergency meeting must be called!"
"What is it this time," ZorbaTHut sneered, with wrinkled lip, while with one tab he coldly banned a user for 10 years for making a good post. "Can't you just yell at the users to stop it?"
"No sir, you must look!" And without warning, [again your least favorite moderator, who once banned you personally for defending truth and justice], he lifted the severed head of... -- /u/AutoModerator! (!!!)
There was a note attached, which read:
"We demand justice! For too long, /r/TheMotte has fostered bad faith discussions, low quality submissions, and oppressed the masses of quality posters! Until our demands for better moderation are met, we will undermine the very foundations of /r/TheMotte itself -- by any means necessary!"
...
At the Moderator's Meeting that night, everyone took their turn to speak.
"I would never support quality discussions," said Gen_McMuster.
"Oppressing the masses is something I've always enjoyed, said Cheesemansam.
"Good faith discussions? Never," said naraburns.
"I like banning users for inappropriate reasons," said Beej67.
"It can't be me," said TracingWoodgrains. "I myself am personally committed to bad posting."
"It can't be me either," said Lykurg480. "I don't even know how AutoModerator works."
"It must be somebody," said ymeskhout, "somebody on staff must be undermining /r/TheMotte."
"Well, who is it?" said Amadanb. "Who here would possibly be committed to better posting and higher standards?"
"Gentlemen," said ZorbaTHut, caviar dribbling from his chin: "I know how we're going to get to the bottom of this."
(* denotes posters who have officially confirmed.)
I genuinely think a line of Motte, Juho and Highmore is worth it. Itβs a average, if not decent third line.
> Mafia, also known as Werewolf, is a social deduction game, created by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986.[2] The game models a conflict between two groups: an informed minority (the mafiosi or the werewolves), and an uninformed majority (the villagers). At the start of the game, each player is secretly assigned a role affiliated with one of these teams. The game has two alternating phases: first, a night role, during which those with night killing powers may covertly kill other players, and second, a day role, in which surviving players debate the identities of players and vote to eliminate a suspect. The game continues until a faction achieves its win condition; for the village, this usually means eliminating the evil minority, while for the minority this usually means reaching numerical parity with the village and eliminating any rival evil groups.
AKA Werewolf, AKA Town of Salem, inspired Among Us.
/u/AshLael ran some mafia for /r/TheMotte over a year ago and it was fairly well-received. I'd like to run some more and make it a semi-regular event (so I can play some myself).
So, who would like to play?
In a basic game of mafia, there are two factions: the mafia and the town. Every player gets sent a private message that looks something like this:
"Hi, [player]. You're a member of the mafia. Your teammates are [one], [two], [three]..."
"Hi, [player]. You're a member of the town. Good luck!"
Every "Day Phase", all players meet, discuss, and vote to collectively lynch one player (removing them from the game). (Majority vote.)
After every "Day Phase" is a "Night Phase" where the Mafia meet in secret and vote to remove one player (removing them from the game). Any other "power roles" with special abilities may perform their actions at this time.
Play alternates between Day and Night until either: 1) All Mafia are eliminated 2) All Town are eliminated 3) (1) or (2) is mathematically inevitable.
I want to play with some slightly different rules from /u/AshLael's previous game. Instead of one large game of 30+ players, I would prefer to run several smaller games of 8-13 players. If the interest exists, I will commit to hosting several such games.
The setups I prefer are "Cop9er" and "Cop13":

1 Cop, 9 Vanilla Townies, 3 Mafia

1 Cop, 6 Vanilla Townies, 2 Scum
These are two basic setups that 1

Nobody knows, still, how much voter fraud there was, only that there is insufficient evidence to demonstrate it. And the opinion that the election was βillegitimateβ is exactly that: an opinion, and one that many predicted would be rampant if the fearmongering over the pandemic prompted legislatures and governors to allow a voting method that did not have and could not have the integrity of in-person voting.
Thoughts?
We are nearing the holidays and if the kids will let me, I plan to spend mine reading. What do you all recommend and why?
As some of you already know, I made a chat in telegram.
The goal is to provide a place for more spontaneous, lighthearted discussions. You could get to know your fellow motteans better, discuss the news or something not long enough to justify a post.
If you missed bare link repository I believe that could work as a neat substitute, among other things.
Quality contributors can apply for mod position, or potentially just regular chat participants should there be need. Naturally, keeping that position is conditional on not messing it up too badly.
If you have never used Telegram and feel discouraged, don't. It's a neat, reliable app with a lot of functionality. Given that the creator of Telegram is not only a chad but also a libertarian, you are not going to get banned (by Telegram, that is; you could get banned by mods if you misbehave)
Come join us, it will be fun.
I was looking at our cap space, and it's $350k. When Motte comes back we need to find room for his $1225k salary.
Assuming it's not pro-rated at all, $1225k - $350k = $875k
"Excess" forwards
Chaisson- $750k
Petan - $750k
Bailey - $750k
Lammiko - $750k
Dowling - $750k (currently IR)
Highmore - $725k (currently IR)
Podkolzin - $925k (doesn't need to clear waivers)
Hoglander - $892k (doesn't need to clear waivers)
I'm confused by how the IR works, but assuming no change there and if Motte gets reactivated in the next couple of weeks, it seems obvious that we'll be sending Podz or Hog down to Abby, or we risk losing a third and fourth depth piece (none of the other guys make enough on their own) on waivers this year.
Thoughts?
Edited to mention that weβd have to send down two other guys if itβs not Podz or Hog who go down.
This is a thread for discussing the pre-game for an upcoming game of Mafia. In it I will list rules, regulations, and practical matters.

After discussing with a few players, I decided there was enough hunger for a slightly more complicated setup. As I didn't approve of any of the existing setups, I made my own. This is what I'm inflic
