I imagine beans in the USA are prepared differently than the UK. So be specific!
Thanks!
Edit: βMerican (damn autocorrect.) Thanks for the info. I appreciate those of you who got particular about your beans and toast.
Also Iβm blown away that I got as many responses and only 31% upvoted! Feelin the love.

Just before 7th August 917 AD ΓΓΎelflΓ¦d, Lady of the Mercians, took Derby by storm and routed the Viking invaders there. ΓΓΎelflΓ¦d had been the Mercian leader since the death of her husband, ΓΓΎelred in 911 AD and had spent the intervening years building a number of defensive fortifications (burhs) on the borders of Mercia. Meanwhile her brother Edward the Elder was also building fortifications and beginning to push further into Danelaw territory. Once ΓΓΎelflΓ¦d had completed her defensive burhs she moved to take territory back, in the face of invasion by three Viking armies. She besieged Derby at the end of July and captured it by 7th August (probably the Vikings actually used the old Roman fort of Derventio nearby). Meanwhile her brother Edward attacked Colchester in Essex. The campaign was militarily successful but ΓΓΎelflΓ¦d lost four of her friends in the fighting. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle explains:
βThis year, before Lammas, Aethelflaed, lady of the Mercians, God helping her, got possession of the fortress which is called Derby, with all that owed obedience thereto; and there also were slain, within the gates, four of her thanes, which to her was a cause of sorrow.β
From this beginning ΓΓΎelflΓ¦d started to move towards Leicester and to negotiate an alliance to take York; the local inhabitants of the Danish kingdom were not all enthusiastic about the Norse Viking invasions. Her untimely death in 918 AD means we shall never know how much more successful she may have been.

To say the corporate lineage and history of Karuizawa Distillery is complicated is an understatement. But most websites tend to gloss over the history or don't go into enough detail to satisfy a true J-whisky nerd. Stefan Van Eycken's Whisky Rising, The Definitive Guide to the Finest Whiskies and Distillers of Japan does a fantastic job of detailing Japanese whisky history, including the lineage of Karuizawa.
But instead of referencing a lengthy text I wanted to condense the material down to a page or two tops that hits on just the most critical and interesting details/factoids. I wrote out the below for my personal notes, but happy to share here. Credit for all of the details are owed to Mr. Eycken's work. I highly recommend buying the book!

Narrative/Detail
Showa Shuzou: License acquired in 1935 to produce alcohol for sake. A shochu distillery was setup in 1946 (Yashiro Factory). In 1947 another was setup in Kawasaki; the Kawasaki Distillery was the first to produce βwhiskyβ (initial release of Sun Luck Whisky) (not truly malt whisky; note 3rd grade whisky in this era could contain 0% malted grains). Whisky accounted for 0.1% of business. Renamed in 1949 to Sanraku Shuzou.
Sanraku Shuzou: began producing malt whisky at the Kawasaki Distillery in 1958. Sun Luck Gold released in 1959. Company acquired beer maker Nisshin Brewery Co. and wine maker Mercian in 1961. That same year, Yamanashi Distillery was created to focus on malt whisky.
Daikoku Budoshu: Some whisky was produced in the late 1940s & early 1950s despite not having a malt whisky distillery (all 3rd grade), though a deal was struck with Yoichi where some Daikoku neutral spirits were traded for Yoichi malt whisky: so early Ocean Whisky may contain trace amounts of Yoichi. In 1952, a license
