A list of puns related to "M3 Motorway"
I was driving in the UK yesterday and I saw the following message displayed on a traffic sign ' RS-232 Issue ' ' Check Signal Cable ' ' Firmware Β©1999 '
Hi all!
I just picked up my Model 3 Performance in mid-December and I currently have it alongside my 2019 BMW M3 Competition. I'm a huge car guy and I've had many performance cars in the past (Cayman GTS, M2, C6 Corvette etc.) so if any other ICE people are looking to take a plunge into a Tesla, here are what I see so far in terms of pros and cons.
Pros:
No fuel costs. Canadian fuel prices (especially for Premium) are insane right now so being able to just charge at home or a public charger is so convenient. Plugging up while at a mall or restaurant and coming back to a charged car is so amazing.
Instant Power. I'm used to revving out engines so this was very different for me but the instant torque and power are addicting. I'm starting to realize that normal non car people are also much more appreciative of a demonstration of straight-line speed like in the Tesla (Yay, this feels like a rollercoaster) than handling characteristics of a Cayman (What are you doing you maniac?)
Build Quality. I'm gonna cop out and list this as a pro and a con. The build quality is hugely improved from the Teslas my friends have from 2018/2019. The seats are comfortable and don't squeek, mine didn't have any major panel gaps and only a couple of small issues that I'll note later in the cons section.
Stealthy Speed. My M Performance Exhaust on the BMW can probably be heard from 2 blocks away and often attracts the wrong kind of attention. Speeding in a Tesla feels like you're getting away with something as people who aren't directly looking at you are none the wiser.
No commuting guilt. I've always felt terrible subjecting a high strung performance ICE to stop and go traffic. I feel bad for the engine, the transmission and every piston. With the tesla it's just on/off. The car does the commuting thing effortlessly.
Incredible Audio. I don't know what kind of sound system is in the Tesla but it's miles better than the HK in the BMW. The stock Telsa audio is in a different stratosphere than the garbage optional Bose systems that Porsche use, which is somehow a step above their even more garbage stock audio, which then forces you into the obscenely priced Burmester option. I don't think I've heard a better stock audio system in any car, period.
No maintenance. It's so weird for me to not have to do regular maintenance but I'm loving it so far. I don't know what will pop up in time but as I understand it's mostly just tires.

- I actually enjoy driving. I don't need the noise, growl, pop and crackle or the top end rush as you hit 5k revs. I want the smooth, quiet, consistent power delivery that lets me feel and hear where I'm reaching the limits of my traction. I never got that in ICE cars (though I'm a total noob amateur when it comes to racing). I now just go out for a drive sometimes for no specific reason.. what a novelty.
- I hesitated to take road trips knowing how much fuel I would burn. This isn't so much about cost as it is a background guilt associated with the 8L/100km (30 mpg) consumption. Mine was a petrol/gasoline car so better for particulate matter compared to diesel, but I had to have a good reason to go out for a drive. Going up mountains for skiing as another, sadly for me the "smell of skiing" is that of dirty diesel fumes as you arrive into the car park behind a trail of filthy old citroens and peugeots. Some people will take issue with this "guilt" element but on an individual level we all have a threshold for what we consider wasteful or justified consumption in life. That's just me.
- People have a LOT of misconceptions about EVs, and everyone who's test driven mine have asked really odd and/or obvious questions that I thought were common knowledge: "Is is annoying to leave the motorway/highway to find a charger?", "so after you've driving for few hours how long does it take to recharge so you can use it again?" etc etc. They're often very surprised when I tell them that even with very "spirited" driving without my aero caps I'm getting 450KM+.
- Maybe I've been lucky but my M3 LR (made in Shanghai) was absolutely perfect on delivery. Zero issues, rattles, creaks, scratches, panel gaps and misalignment etc. Youtube videos concerning older models (and some coming from Freemont it seems) give people the impression Teslas are very badly assembled and are riddled with QC issues. I know they're not close to Audi/Merc/BMW in terms of paint and interior, but myself and friends have been very surprised by how good the new ones are in terms of QC. That being said I know this is not true for a lot of people.
Anyhow, thanks for making a chill forum to shoot the shit ;)
I have the GT135, I live on the South Cosst and use my Zoe 1 day a week in central London. Energy consumption in town is fantastic but my issue is the 1hr20min drive up and down the M3.
I am in eco mode, Ido the 63mph, the motorway does eat my battery, obviously, but is there a difference in range when choosing between B and D modes?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I am very torn between the above cars... I am looking to buy an EV soon. It will be on a 4 year PCP deal 15k miles pa with around Β£7000-9000 deposit to put down.
I have been drawn to the software behind the Tesla cars over the past couple of years. But when sitting in the Ioniq... I realised it really has a brilliant interior and a few new nice features, like the vehicle to load feature.
My main Tesla M3 pros:
IONIQ 5 pros:
With all things considered, and similar financing figures, the IONIQ 5 58kwh (~230 mile range) and Tesla Model 3 SR (~267 mile range) prices are coming out as the following:
IONIQ 5 - Β£438 pm Β£9000 down Tesla M3 SR - Β£485 pm Β£9000 down
These cars would each be mainly for motorway driving (70-150mile trips). Range does not bother me too much as I would rarely do trips longer than this.
One concern of mine with the IONIQ 5 is the lack of a rear wiper on a hatchback style rear end. I fear that rain and snow would cause visibility issues through UK winters, I've seen a few videos of this and no evidence of a similar problem with the Model 3.
One concern with the Tesla is the less practical boot space.
Is the Tesla infotainment, software, range and panoramic sunroof worth the Β£30pm jump up? Opinions??

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

So Iβve had my 2021 LR M3 for about 3 months, but finding the range to be sub-optimal at best.
Tesla have basically been dismissive of the whole thing since Iβve raised it with them, making various excuses (too much motorway driving, AC etc.).
Im particularly concerned as weβre heading into the colder months here in the U.K., and naturally the range will be hurt even more. Am I going crazy or is my range expectations unreasonable?
The car is rated at 360 miles on a full charge. Iβm averaging closer to 220 miles.
Iβve tried various things, no AC, just town driving (30mph), never going above 70mph on the motorway. Iβve even tried letting the battery drain fully as Tesla said its just a display issue. Nothing seems to get me anywhere close to 300 miles on a charge.
Anyone had similar issues, or is 230miles per charge reasonable?
TIA
Nothing, he was gladiator.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
