Hi all! Had so much fun growing traditional luffa gourds this year, but fully know that zone 5b had a strange long season. Wanting to try this variety for shorter season success. I have traditional luffa seeds amongst many other seed varieties that would be happy to trade.

Should i Collect and dry my luffa?

Well, behold my only luffa gourd (for now, there are 3 more in the way)!

https://preview.redd.it/egw6xa8krfp71.png?width=1536&format=png&auto=webp&s=f1a835a5e8de70b6def6992ca0136a309f8a8cab

And i have a question for other luffa growers, since this is my first year. Should i collect it and dry it not attached to the plant, or let it continue drying on the plant as it -i supose for that brown spot- is doing?

Also, it is an hydroponic luffa, although its a poor man hidroponics cause i have no phimeter nor ppm meter, its just growing on water and liquid fertilicer adjusted with a hint of lemon to lower the ph and some iron quelates. I should point that it went ballistic with vegetative growth, but it seems that i got no luck since they were mostly male flowers. Now its is "second" flowering season and it have produced 3 more gourds that i have already fertilized, and Im waiting for them to grow. I think the second flowering season its either because a) Autumm is coming and in south spain we are having this tiny window of time where we have like a second spring or b) The nutrients are running low -despise the plant is looking gorgeous except for the older parts, and its triggering the flowering cycle because "Bro, the soil is dying, we have to have offpring like now"
