Long-winded post incoming. But first: an explanation.

My brother and I were talking ages ago about how it would be cool to see a sports league of wrestlers that forces them to wrestle for the superiority of their faction rather than personal gain. It's like if Survivor Series was the whole promotion--or, as I like to describe it, newLEGACYinc Stable Wars: The Promotion.

As the title semi-implies, the thing that pushed me to actually put this thing into action was this year's PWI 500, which gave us a straight-up list of the greatest wrestlers in the world today, organized in terms of strength and star-power. If there were to be a fantasy draft for wrestling, the PWI 500 would be a pretty great way to go about doing it, though it is flawed. Not only does it rely heavily on your previous year (NJPW's Kazuchika Okada is easily a top 10 draft pick IRL--if not top 5--but he didn't really kill it from June 2020 to June 2021 and was thus placed at 25), but it's also influenced by kayfabe and win/loss records from that year, meaning someone like Seth Rollins got picked in Round 3 and Bray Wyatt got picked in Round 5.

With that out of the way, let's get into

The (Out-of-World) Set-Up:

If you've ever played Fire Promoter or have bought the Entrance Craft DLC, you'll know all about the various fake promotions in the game, from the SWA to ROW to KOG. I used all 17 of the logos and team names given to me there and added "Takayama Empire" (from the 2nd Takayamania DLC) to make it a round 18 teams. Then, just for a little flavor, I gave each team a general manager (e.g. Vince McMahon for SWA and Tony Khan for NCPW) and a hometown (SWA in New York City and NCPW in Jacksonville, FL), though it ultimately wouldn't influence anything other than my head-canon. I know after the fact that Vince wouldn't have drafted the SWA team on purpose, though some teams (namely Empire and DFW) made a surprising amount of sense.

I put those 18 team names into a random order generator, set them on a list, and started drafting straight from the 2021 PWI 500. An hour of typing and double-checking later, and this is how things shook out:

When it comes to professional wrestling, Chris Jericho is without a doubt one of the GOATs. Not only does he have a mountain of accomplishments under his name, but he is also arguably one of the longest-surviving, no, longest-THRIVING names to ever step foot in the squared circle. Admittedly, it was difficult at first to imagine Chris Jericho had he come back to WWE because of how much the landscape has changed since his last appearance, but, on the flip side, so many names have floundered because of the lack of credible names for them to go over on, and keeping Chris Jericho could’ve been instrumental in ensuring some of those names got over, especially given all the notoriety he gained from Japan. However, the question is: does Chris Jericho have what it takes to sit atop the throne in WWE one last time? Find out in my booking of Chris Jericho had he resigned with WWE in 2019!

Chapter 1: Return of the List!

Background: The Royal Rumble is a great tool to return people, especially if they didn’t have much going on before their absence. Chris Jericho will be used to put over many superstars that are ascending the card, but he does need to heat up a bit before he can do that on a consistent basis. So, who’s a safe, reliable midcard talent that’s good at promos and can immediately be placed into an entertaining feud with Chris Jericho? Hmmm…

Royal Rumble 2019: Men’s Royal Rumble

Elias starts at number one, and he says all of the exact things he said in real life. The backhand at the Diamondbacks, the shift in attitude, I would keep all of that. “So right now I need all of you to silence your cellphones and hold your applause until I am finished.” Right as he finishes, the stadium goes black, the spotlight that was on Elias goes out. There is a brief pause. Elias pipes up, “if someone in the back would please-”

“BREAK THE WALLS DOWN!” Chris Jericho’s music hits. His classic jacket lights up the stage, and as he hits his signature pose the crowd notices the list stuffed in his pants (he’s back to wearing tights/jeans for this booking, not trunks). He pulls it out and poses with it some more on the stage before walking down the ramp and up the ring. As he’s getting a microphone Elias takes the time to announce: “Look, everyone! It’s the legend himself, the Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla, Chris Jericho!” Chris Jericho hype

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Two nights later after Royal Rumble, Shinsuke Nakamura choose AJ Styles to challenge the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34.

It's been about three weeks since my last post about the Worldwide Wrestling Association, and in those three weeks, I've run exactly two in-universe weeks of shows! And the whole second week was within the last day and a half!

For those of you new to the story, The WWA is a Fire Pro league where the first 200-ish wrestlers in the 2021 PWI 500 are drafted into 18 12-man teams, with 5-match "games" taking place within the two conferences until a championship team is formed. A week or so ago, I wrote a post explaining the creation of the Worldwide Wrestling Association, a Fire Pro Wrestling World game I'm running where the PWI 500 got drafted into 18 teams that wrestled each other for brand supremacy. I mentioned toward the end of that post that I'd post updates when there were updates to post, and people seemed to take kindly to that, so I thought I'd at least let you guys see what's going on in the league after two in-universe weeks.

With one match a night Monday-Saturday and two matches on Sunday, we're now 16 games into the promotion's existence. Every team has had at least one game/five matches, and four teams have gotten at least one week off. So, with everyone getting a little bit of time to shine (or stay very, very dim), this is the perfect time to pause and see how things are going for everyone.
