"Carry on my wayward son" by Kansas is about note from Hamilcar Barca to his son Hannibal
" Carry on, my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more" is what Hamilcar told a young Hannibal before he rode off to draw the attention of roman cavalry, ensuring his dead but his son's life/safety.
"Once I rose above the noise and confusion, Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion" is talking about his battle ability, once he learned how to fight and how to lead he caught a glimpse beyond the illusion.
" I was soaring ever higher But I flew too high" would represent his raids on Italy, getting closer and closer to Rome but he was never going to reach it and in doing so caused him to be Rome's most wanted man.
"Though my eyes could see, I still was a blind man Though my mind could think, I still was a mad man I hear the voices when I'm dreaming I can hear them say" This represents the fact that he was blind to Carthage's nobility selling him out to end the war, and he was mad for crossing the alps, the voices where the voices of his father telling him to keep going.

AoSLore Book Club: Why should you read "Hamilcar: Champion of the Gods"?
Greetings and good tidings once more fellow Gate Seekers. It seems that the poll to pick our next slew of entries into our Bi-Weekly has met with roaring success, with the forerunner being Hamilcar: Champion of the Gods.
Now before getting into my thoughts on why you should read this book. I want to ask those of you who have read it. Without going into spoilers, would you recommend this book? Did you enjoy Hamilcar's first full length adventure? What are your opinions? How would you review you? Did you dislike it? Feel free to comment down below.
As for me. I am biased, because this is by far my favorite novel in Age of Sigmar. And why? Because in my opinon Hamilcar is one of the most entertaining Stormcast Eternals to ever be chosen by Sigmar. I would fully recommend this book solely based on the quality of Hamilcar, because this big, boisterous cave man taken by Sigmar from the snowy wildernesses of Azyr is the perfect epitome of a Barbarian Hero in the vein of Baldur's Gate's Minsc, He-Man, and all the other strange and frankly whimsical barbarian heroes in fiction who are nonetheless effective at what they do. Plus. He'll glad tell you about all the times his ass has been kicked, even in the midst of bragging.

During the Punic Wars, there were a lot of people in the Carthaginian side named Hamilcar and Hasdrubal that were not of relation to Hannibalβs family; the Italian side had a lot of different people named Scipio. Were there naming practices that lead to this abundance of the same names?

As the text says Iβm looking to buy really good conditions of A Distant Plain, Hannibal &bHamilcar, Sleeping Gods (unsure if it functions like other legacy games but if so I guess all stickers/envelopes sealed/unused)
As for 1960: Making of The President Price is more the factor than quality, willing to accept some pretty banged up boxes if the price is right.
Thanks!

AoSLore Book Club: Hamilcar: Champion of the Gods
Greetings and Salutations Gate Seekers,
Welcome to out latest AoSLore Book Club. Today we are discussing "Hamilcar: Champion of the Gods" by David Guymer. This adventure packed novel stars the ever-boisterous, and surprisingly eager to brag about his failings, Hamilcar Bear-Eater and his foe Ikrit the Ur-Rat.
As anyone who has read the novel can attest, these are two very big and bombastic personalities and watching them clash is a treat. But a legendary bout between a Hero and Villain are nothing without an engaging side cast, and Champion of the Gods provides a pretty wild cast of Sylvaneth-worshipping cultists, Freeguilders, Stormcast, Skaven, and even a Beastlord in his underwear.
So where to even begin with this absolutely delightful story. Well I suppose I should ask, what are your thoughts? Did you like it? Hate it? Who were your favorite characters? What moments do you want to talk about? What questions do you want to ask? What adventures do you think lie in store for Hamilcar and his plucky adventuring party? Do you also think it's criminal Aetar have only appeared twice? Why don't more Freeguilds arm themselves with insane things like Quartzswords? Why are so many Cities of Sigmar built on top of mountain summits?

[SPOILERS] Are there any plans for more Hamilcar??
SPOILERS FOR HAMILCAR: CHAMPION OF THE GODS
Let's just say H:CoG has been one of my favorite books in the past few years, and I really wanna know if Black Library is gonna bring everyone's favorite Stormcast back for more. I want to know what happens now that he's getting ready for round 2 with Ikrit. I think Hamilcar is one of the best written Stormcasts, and I want as much as I can get of him. But the most recent work he's in was published late 2019, and I'm afraid that my curse with content I like has struck again.
Please, PLEASE tell me there'll be more Hamilcar!

A supposed bust of Hamilcar Barca. Some historians infer that Hamilcar's post-Mercenary War activities were aimed at eventual war with Rome, which was inherited by his sons, and some further suggested that Hamilcar devised the strategy of invading Italy by crossing the Alps.

Why the Romans were victorious in their war against Hamilcar but not against king Gaiseric
If we were to do a cross analysis of two wars that the Romans fought, let us look at their war with Hamilcar and also against Gaiseric.
In the former, they spent over twenty years and conquered their enemy, while in the latter, they were easily vanquished. How did this happen? Both Hamilcar and Gaiseric had strong navies, both had good men, and both were stern and fierce rulers. So how did the Romans conquer the one but was conquered by the other?
It was because the Roman army was no longer what it was in the days of Regulus and Lutatius. Although the Romans had far more wealth and far more land than they did, they also had twice the amount of problems, twice the amount of payments, and twice the amount of treachery.
There was no Lutatius, no Regulus, no Claudius Pulcher, no Manlius Vulso, and no ally like Hiero. The Roman Empire was divided and men like Ricimer, Basiliscus, Heraclius, Marcellinus, Aspar, Emperor Leo, and Emperor Anthemius. Men who had their own plans and would have grave suspicions of their own kin. Such was the lack of collaboration among the Romans that the Vandals took this opportunity to turn the war in their favor.
Now, the first Punic war was about gaining the Carthaginian territory of Sicily whereas the war against Gaiseric was about reconquering all of Africa. Still, one could agree that the disunity of Rome was what led to their downfall in this war.
We see this immense disunity taking place also in Ptolemaic Egypt in the first century BC and also among the Greeks who were divided between the Aetolians and Achaeans along with the issues they had with Corinth and Sparta. Hence why Rome, united and strong, was able to take it over.
