So I was wondering what Lan Wangji's guqin was called 'cause I couldn't remember it so I searched it up and it was...

himself?

Apparently Lan Wangji's guqin is called Wangji (the same as his name, 忘机) and now I am convinced that either the guqin was named after him or he was named after his guqin. (probably he was named after his guqin 'cause he got his courtesy name later, but I still find it hilarious). I don't remember where it was mentioned but I have terrible memory and also the internet said so, so-

Anyways I just found it funny 'cause the guqin has the same name as its owner.

Also for some reason when I found out I just thought of this:

Lan Xichen: Wangji

Lan Wangji: Me or the guqin?

Lan Xichen: ...

I have a theory, it’s more about chroma packs Riot’s video has a system of changing prestige skins they said skins will come in monthly rotation and there were color packs so this might actually be for events we missed Like Arcade,Psyops,Guqin chroma packs. Issues with left hand guqin techniques

I haven’t managed to find anyone else experiencing this problem, so I hope someone here can help me figure out what’s going on. I recently purchased a guqin. Everything seems to be working well but I can’t seem to do any left hand techniques (pressing on the string, sliding, vibrato) without stopping the sound. Even when the strings are pressed very lightly, the sound is stopped.

Any ideas about what this could be? I hope to resolve this issue soon so I can work on learning songs. Thank you!

Do any of the actors actually play the zither (guqin)?

First off, which is the appropriate name? Zither or guqin? Google uses guqin but subtitles say zither.

Secondly, I know most of the time the actors/actresses are not actually playing. But in the Princess Weiyoung, Lou Jin* (and maybe Tiffany Tang) look like they actually know what they’re doing. Part of the reason why I specifically ask about them is because one of the behind the scenes videos showed them playing around, and it’s hard to tell with all the background noise, but it sounded real?

Thirdly, what other actors/actresses know how to play the zither/guqin?

In search of a guqin

Hey Providence! I've got a long shot question. I have a friend here who plays a traditional Chinese instrument called the guqin (photo below), but due to how delicate the instrument is and how expensive it would be to ship, she hasn't been able to play one since she was last home a few years ago. I wanted to surprise her by finding a guqin for her to play for a little while, but unfortunately it's a rather uncommon instrument. I don't have high hopes, but does anyone know how I might find one in Providence? I'm hoping I can make my friend feel a little more at home. Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

Another good Guqin resource for beginners

Hey everyone, I've found another really good resource for learning how to play Guqin and to understand the notations for beginners. Once again, it's going to be all in Chinese but there are at least captions which you can use Youtube's algorithm to auto translate to your preferred language. I watched it with English auto-translated subtitles which seems like an accurate enough translation though I don't know about the accuracy for other languages. I don't think it's a tutorial series like the last one I posted but if you want a crash course on Guqin notation then this video is helpful.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEVYNePmyBg

She actually has a bit more tutorials on different things and/or problems regarding Guqin which are worth checking out that'll I link as well: (Again use the auto-translate feature on the captions)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BMx62hn8WI (help on a very specific pinching movement on the left hand)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SZjXD97skE (quick overview and demonstration of how specific notations are played, not really a tutorial, more of a visual)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tfivs3LIyc (common mistakes beginners do)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMHFzucOcvU (another common mistakes video and how to properly place the Guqin and proper body positioning)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7MZwIeL50A (experiencing or having stiff fingers while playing and how to fix that problem)

Honestly, I'd subscribe to her channel (not a promotion) because it seems she's been recently posting some advice or problems that students of Guqin encounter along with videos of her playing music on the Guqin.

Guqin music-Jiu Kuang "drunken madness"

DrunkenMadness

I've been getting into Guqin music lately and this tune is my new Daoist jam for the summer, courtesy from the lads of the bamboo Grove!

Lyric translation sample

"Fat crabs in strong wine begin to stew; friends called together then drink their due. While enjoying hills and streams, we ignore the world, Reason or chaos alike; reason or chaos, peace or risk. Drunks fall down without assist!"

I felt like this song mildly fit the theme of this page to hear you go!

According to Former Rioter "Beardilocks" 975+ RP Skins are eligible for custom VFX have any changes been made to Pentakill, Muse, or Guqin Sona on the PBE?

I don't have the hard drive space to get PBE myself so I'm asking those who have tried the new changes if anything else has changed visually specifically for these skins or if Riot has spent the better part of 6 months tweaking a sentence and floating a disco ball over DJ Sona?

For those that don't know Sweetheart Sona is also a 975 RP skin and falls in line with the standards of what a modern skin at that tier should have visually.

What kind of Guqin should I buy?

Hey everyone, I'm a beginner and planning on buying a Guqin from Sound of Mountain. My question is, should I buy a Guqin that is for Beginners, or should I ahead and buy an expensive one right from the start? My thinking is, I know I'm going to be committed to learning how to play, so if I buy a cheap Guqin that's for beginners then somewhere down the line I'm going to want to buy a more professional-grade one once I get better. So I rather not spend even more money when I could've been practicing on one from the start. I did this when I bought my Dizi, I started with a professional-grade one and I don't regret it though with a Guqin, it might be different. Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you.

Suggestions for Pipa and Guqin recordings / artists /albums?

Hi all - would appreciate any suggestions for Pipa or Guqin artists and any specific albums to listen to. Bonus points if they're available on Spotify, etc. I've found some on YouTube etc. but then the artist's name is either in Chinese or I think there are various ways to translate Chinese names to English and in the end it makes it very difficult to find either on CD or a streaming service etc. Also, beggars can't be choosers so I'll settle for any suggestions, but I really appreciate this type of music best when the artists are solo instead of accompanied by flutes etc.
