A list of puns related to "Good Parliament"
Actual question. Do you guys think it's good or bad? I'm just trying to think through it below.
So, there are several parts of Parliament: the (missing) aristocracy, the seats, the debates. (Oh, and you miss out on the gov't reform if you aren't naturally parliamentary like England.)
Losing out on the aristocrats means that you lose out on +1 mil mana / month, and the second set of missions, which I would argue is pretty bad. But not unplayable.
A seat gains +10% to manpower, tax, and production efficiency. Which is cool, but aside from manpower, isn't excessively notable. But they are at least useful modifiers no matter the development distribution. However, more seats means more costs to reliably passing your debates.
So, let's look at the potential debate issues:
Group 1: Capital development - Develops either 1 tax, production, or manpower in a capital province, and provides a minor bonus for 10 years. Generally wouldn't say it matters. But unlike most parliament issues, it is a permanent boost. Maybe it'll pay dividends as the game progresses...?
Group 2: Fixing state problems - If you have a persistent problem, like high autonomy, or war exhaustion, low republican tradition, falling behind on tech or having excessive loans, etc, gain a modifier that helps to fix the problem. A fair few of these are quite notable, and best of all, their chance of appearing is correlated with how badly you need them. This makes up the bulk of the issues.
Group 3: Straight modifiers - aka. Modifiers not related to fixing a problem. Not all that many, but they tend to be decent. Particular standouts would be Extend Militarization of the State, for Prussia, Combat Janissary Decadence, Charter Colonies, and Charter Trade Company.
On the whole, I think the parliament issues are better than the extra sets of missions, and at least has a higher chance of being more situationally useful... if you ignore the bribes. The missions are, after all, rather generic.
So the question that remains is it also better than +1 mil / month. Which... it probably is. Not confident. But probably.
PARLIAMENT OF KNIVES is a interactive novel from Choice of Games and the third such choose-your-own adventure-esque game set in White Wolf's World of Darkness. I enjoyed NIGHT ROAD and OUT FOR BLOOD but I felt that the former was significantly more enjoyable than the latter. Strangely, I think Out for Blood may be the one that sticks with me longer, though. Each of the novels takes a different perspective on Kindred society with the first being a low-level grunt working for the Camarilla as a courier, the second as a human being dealing with an invasion of Kindred into his hometown, and the third being as a high-level Camarilla flunkie.
Parliament of Knives is a significantly longer game than the previous entries and a lot deeper in terms of politics, backstabbing, Kindred relationships, and opportunities to explore alternate routes. You can side with the Camarilla, Anarchs, Primogen vs. Prince, Tremere versus Tremere, and numerous other sides. It is a game of absolute freedom and you have more choices than I expected. In my various games, I managed to betray my sire and then double-cross my partner multiple times. I formed alliances and broke them based on new informations as it entered my character's possession.
Perhaps one of the best examples of this is when I made an alliance with the Ventrue Primogen against my sire, found her to be untrustworthy, did her dirty work, received a letter for her to give to me, and then noted she'd taken the wrong lesson from Hamlet that you should never give your execution orders to the person to be executed. I proceeded to betray her back to my sire and ended up becoming the next Prince's right hand. I give kudos to the author that they came up with a bunch of great twists and turns for a Camarilla game.
The premise is you are [insert character name], the childe of Ottawa's Seneschal, Eden Corliss. You can be a Toreador, Ventrue, or Nosferatu. You are highly placed in the Ottawa Camarilla but function more like a glorified secretary and occassional mercenary than anyone truly powerful. After being ordered to help fight some Anarchs, you are drawn into a conspiracy regarding the city's missing Prince. Has he been Beckoned? Kidnapped? Met the final death? It almost doesn't matter because Eden is the most likely to ascend in his place but everyone has their own plans in motion.
The biggest disadvantage of the text-based novel is its inherent format. If you don't have a problem reading about 600K words of description

It's very quite around here, so I though I'd post something by way of encouragement!

Here we have the Orthodox Christians back after a 20 year absence, a blessing from the Pope, and a pagan chair. Who says religions can't talk to each other?
Obligatory disclaimers: on mobile, English is not my first language.
Seeing all the memes about school and reading some MCs done by students reminded of one that was done against the local education committee.
This happened at the end of the '90s. In my country, in order for a school to go to a field trip, they have to ask for permission from the local education committee. They also have to prove that the trip provides an educational purpose. The hero of the story was my Literature teacher, let's call her Chloe.
The year before me, she was teaching Antigone, the Ancient Classic of Sofoklis. Because she always tried to provide the best education for her students, she found out that the a theater troupe would stage the play for a limited time in the capital. That was a rare opportunity, because most of Ancient Classics are staged during the summer on a big theatric festival. She talked about to the headmaster, who agreed that it was a good opportunity and they submitted a petition for a field trip. The education committee answered a week later (basically making the school miss their window) that the request was declined due to, and I quote, "watching a theatrical performance doesn't cover any educational purpose, since it's an entertainment activity". The headmaster and Chloe were disappointed, to say the least, but they couldn't do anything about it.... this time. Chloe did the best she could, assigning roles to some of her students and kind of play the whole thing during class. But Chloe remembered.
The next year, it was my class's turn tackling on of the classics with Chloe. Now, our first year in high school (the equivalent of sophomore in the US), a major overhaul had happened to all of our subjects, removing some, adding others and changing some. In Literature, the change was made from Antigone to Oedipus Rex and Oedipus at Kolono (the oft forgotten sequel; what? did you think Hollywood invented the unnecessary sequels?). And guess what; a troupe in the capital is staging Oedipus Rex.
Cue Malicious compliance:
That year Chloe had done her homework. She had read the Rules and Regulations from cover to cover. She submitted again, but slightly changed. You see, during the overhaul, Political Science 101 (not the exact name of the subject, but that was the gist of it) was added. So, she asked for a field trip to the Parliament. When the committee asked what was the educational purpose of such a visit, she said it would give the students an idea o
