Hi all, I was just taking my dogs out to pee in the yard when I found what is clearly a pet hamster (looks identical to Golden Hamsters I’ve seen on google). I grabbed some gloves and an open Tupperware lined with paper towel to catch it, and it’s now inside all curled up (still breathing, probs cold).
I’m trying to call emergency vets and local animal rehab centers but they’re either closed or do not specialize in rodent care. Just to help it get through the night until these facilities open, is there anything I should do to put it in a better container, feed it, serve it water, etc?
how much is the golden hamster costing yall?
I would like to know what would be the best size and type of cage/aquarium for a golden hamster. I am scared I may get the wrong size and it would suffer. I do have a bit of a budget, But I would be able to afford food and bedding. And are aquariums safe for golden hamsters?
Heya, I've been wanting for a while now to upgrade my golden hamster's enclosure since its a bit small for her and I don't want her to be uncomfortable.
Would this cage be okay for a golden hamster?
The size of the bottom is 95cm X 57cm and the height is 50cm. It also has two additional floors, and a tube can also be placed to the side as you can see.
If this is too small could somebody recommend a better cage option for my golden hamster?

hi, im building a custom made cage for my syrian/golden hamster. she's a pretty big female. the cage would be 3.28 ft (1 meter) in lenght and 1.60 feet (50 cm) in height and depth. my concern is about chipboard walls. are they too fragile and easy to bite through?
My girlfriend want to gift an hamster for her 5 y/o daughter. I told her about the needs of the hamster (having a good house, spending time with it....), but i wonder, do you think it's a good idea since :
- Hamster sleep until late (and child go to bed early)
- She is 5, we will of course teach her the need to be gentle and take care of the hamster and will be here to take care of the hamster when she doesn't, but isn't it too young ?

This question may seem a bit odd but people who has owned Syrian/golden hamster, how long did they live? Asking as my oldest is about 3 years, I got him when he was over a year old when he couldn’t be sold anymore because of his age. my hamster
