A list of puns related to "Emollient"
Can any of the Dermatology specialists, provide a simple guide on how to prescribe the above and in which conditions?
I know thereβs plenty of options but im not always sure whats the difference and the frequency and duration, and i feel i unnecessarily have to seek advice from Dermatology wasting their time.
Anyone willing to provide us a nice guide to help save you time ππΌ
Much appreciated.
I have some patches of lightly peeling, dry, itchy skin. When I put on the aquaphor, it itches intensly for about 5-10 mins afterwards then it calms down and I find relief. is this normal? Or should I switch to Cervae or something else. This happens mainly when I wake up in the morning. If i put on aquphor after a shower, I don't seem to get this reaction. maybe my skin picks up moisture from the water.

any idea when this will be launched in India?
31M I have dry sensitive type skin. Rosacea, eczema prone and medium tan/olive undertones (mixed race)I have a solid moisturizing and cleansing regimen but Iβd like to introduce sunscreen everyday instead of only in the spring/summer. Iβm just having a hard time (and wasting money) finding the right ones that suit the texture Iβm seeking so that I can be consistent. I skip days my barrier isnβt doing well or experiencing a break out.
Id like to avoid mineral or combination sunscreens I hate the chalkiness. Feels like itβs drying my skin out. Im a very dry skin type so I often need to moisturize before applying sunblock. Something easy on sensitive eyes too a lot of neutrogena products stung after borrowing some from my SO and teammates. I train a lot outdoors plus marathons. Iβd like to start protecting my skin better.
Any recommendations? Brands?
Ones that Iβve held onto for now:
Ones that havenβt quite worked out
Thank you !
I was given a bottle of this cream and it's great, but I refuse to buy from Mary Kay (it's an MLM). I use it heavily in the winter - I put it on the dry parts of my cheeks and I apply it all over the backs of my hands, the webs of my fingers, and around my fingernails and cuticles, and wear gloves over to bed. It works great, but I'm running out, so I'm looking for something similar, hopefully not too expensive, that will work similarly. Please drop your suggestions
Confused between the two. Any thoughts?
As the title suggests , what would you choose if you had very dry skin that you want to soothe.
Please specify if you have other recommendations :)
I'm learning more about face care and I am really confused about these two together but I can't find a straight answer on Google or YouTube. Anyone know?
Why are silicones demonised but plant oils, waxes and fatty alcohols (especially in the curly hair community) praised when all of them perform the same function which is coating, conditioning the hair, and making it manageable. The silicone haters' reasoning is that silicones are hard to wash out and can dry your hair... But so are plant oils. I'm from south India where it's considered abnormal to not oil your hair before shampooing, so I can confidently say coconut oil is pretty damn hard to wash off and I've seen it dry my ends out.
Do silicones coat hair way too much that they make ingredients that penetrate the hair unable to do so? (Also something that's been bugging me: do silicones prevent hydrolysed proteins and protein treatments from penetrating the hair shaft?) Someone tell me what is making them so bad that they're like getting banned for haircare products??? Or is it just because "tHeYrE nOt nAtUrAl" ?
I apologize if this is not the proper forum for this question. Please redirect me if you know where I may find the answer.
I am interested in formulating my own skin-care products and am curious where I can purchase products in bulk. I can easily google where to buy them... but I am hoping someone can point me to a reputable, ethical, quality (etc...) source.
I have been diagnosed with linalool contact allergy and have managed to get products suitable for my oily skin.
My question is, after I apply the moisturiser do I apply the sun cream first and then the emollient or otherway round? All products are for oily skin so dont leave any oily residues behind. And I understand that the emollient is to form a barrier and lock moisture in, so maybe it should be the last thing to apply on my face?
Thank you
I know im new to my routine, my hair is bleached and dyed blue with artic fox as well. My hair is so much less frizzy and poofy. Whats weird is when i brush it with my wide bristle brush, is it like...smooths out the top, but the under-waves gets poofier at the same time. The waves kinda remain but not as pretty. How can i have my waves all around and eliminate their mild frizz as much as possible with bleached hair?Oh and after a bit, the waves return but it just looks freaking messy with like two different shapes of hair?!
hey guys its me again asking how to get use out of a product type that doesnt work for me. I have a certain foundation thats really fresh and really pretty and it looks great on my skin buuut i cant scratch my nose/make any sudden movements without it coming off. Ive tried setting with extra powder/baking in certain areas to get it to stay but it doesnt cooperate. how have you all modified/made use of a dewy/more liquidy foundation when youre more oily/greasy in the face :(
Are there any cationic emollients that arenβt emulsifiers/surfactants? If so, is there maybe a list of them somewhere?
> It was a nasal emollient called Ponaris. It was once, the packaging advertised, a NASA stapleβincluded in the agency's medical space kit on every Apollo mission.

I have seen very polarizing reviews about this cream. Some love it and some absolutely hate it. I have dry and dehydrated skin and I want to know if it is a good choice for me. So, if you have similar skin let me know your experience with it. Is it good enough "Emollient" for dry skin? And how does it perform on keeping the skin hydrated ("Hydration") and locking in the moisture to prevent TEWL ("Occlusive").
Skin type: combination (oily nose and chin, dry everything), sensitive, acne and eczema prone.
This summer has been hell for my skin. Never had an eczema flare up on my face before, but yup it happened now. My eczema wasn't as severe as some of the other cases I'd read about, but it got pretty bad. My face itched constantly, I couldn't sleep at night, I felt like my face was cracking open. Went to the dermatologist and he prescribed some topical steroids, but I could only use them for upto 10 days, and the patches would just return when I stopped.
I tried applying about 3 layers of the cetaphil moisturizer my dermat recommended, but that just made me itch more. My skin wouldn't allow more than 1 layer of that.
Anyway, I decided to try out Aveeno dermexa because everyone said it would be good. And yup it was, not my HG product or anything, and I'm definitely on the lookout for better alternatives, but I'm super thankful because my face is in control now.
Just to clarify- I wasn't looking for something to make my eczema vanish, I just wanted some relief until I could get an allergy test done and find out the cause. This did the job pretty well.
Aqua, Glycerin, Panthenol, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Petrolatum, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Avena Sativa Kernel Flour, Avena Sativa Kernel Extract, Avena Sativa Kernel Oil, Ceramide 3, Isopropyl Alcohol, Steareth-20, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Sorbate, Benzalkonium Chloride.
Price : Rs.990 for 200ml.
It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and absorbs pretty quickly. Still, I would not recommend for oiler skin types for obvious reasons. It has a very rice-y smell? It's pretty nice, whatever it is.
Wash face with Cetaphil cleanser, then apply Cetaphil moisturizing cream (not DAM) on damp skin. Apply a layer of Aveeno dermexa. Wait for 15 minutes, then use Rx required nadifloxacin 1% cream on acne.
Iβm afraid mixing an oil isnβt working, itβs making the foundation break up and I really want to sheer it out on my face but it sets so quickly I donβt have any time to work with to make it blend!!! Tips??
Oils vs. Fatty alcohols vs. Silicones. Why should someone choose one of these over the other? I am asking specifically for when you put it on as kind of a "sealing" step to prevent moisture from escaping. I understand that certain oils will penetrate and some silicones will build up and should be avoided. However, is there any real benefit to using one of these emolients in particular? Is one going to be more effective at sealing?
I have 2a hair with medium porosity, density, and width. My hair has never been chemically treated and is almost never heat treated. The only place damage is noticeable is at the very ends because my hair is about 20inches in length. I am interested in sealing the moisture in my hair when I wear it in protective braids because I live in a very cold and dry environment and my goal is to have it reach 2 feet in length. I use gentle sulfates in my hair twice a week and deep cleanse it once a month. I have had little problem with product buildup. My hair isn't easily weighed down.
Trying to buy a emollient to replace my soap with. What do you all use?
I'm having a fairly bad allergic reaction to black mold in my vicinity, and it's displaying as a rash on my neck, extremely dry and itchy. Should I use a normal moisturer and then lock it in with vaseline?
Confused between the two. Any thoughts?
