Hey guys, currently playing Basil on deity going for an early war. I have the GBR right next to me so that will make getting the dromons really quick. Picked up a pantheon and I'm wondering if god of the forge works with naval units too? The strategy with that pantheon is usually seen with the Aztecs. I know there are probably better pantheons but it's so boring picking the same thing again and again (that would be god of the sea on naval games). The exact text is specified as "+25% production towards ancient and classical military units" so I'm wondering if this works for naval units too? I'm pretty sure they do count as military units but I'm just worried maybe it's for land ones only so I've come here to double check! The dromon is unlocked at ship building so here's to hoping that I can go dromon brr brr brr. Does this work the way I think it does!?

I was looking into various fleet sizes, and different names were used.
The Iron Fleet had 93 War Galleys and 400 Longships.
The Redwyne Fleet is 200 Galleys "and five times as many merchant carracks, wine cogs, trading galleys, and whalers".
Aurane Waters took with him to the Stepstones "13 War Galleys and 10 Dromons".
Sallador Saan has 23 Galleys.
White Harbor has 23 Galleys in the harbor, and a "very large" fleet hidden up the White Knife.
So I was looking into this and thinking about Aurane Waters, who is currently playing pirate down in the Stepstones with 13 Galleys and 10 Dromons, which is 23 total ships. He sailed for Stannis Baratheon at one point and are no friends of the Tyrells as he made off with the ships when Cersei was arrested and the Tyrells deposed him of his seat on the Small Council.
The Redwyne Fleet is 200 War Galleys and are loyal to the Tyrells. The Iron Fleet, who are also no friends to the Tyrells, have 93 War Galleys and 400 longships.
So if (realistic or no) Aurane Waters made common cause with the Iron Fleet, who would have more power?

Basically title. I can't seem to understand how to use them in battle. Do they need to be stopped before they can use greek fire? Can they only use it once? But most important of all: How do I get them to board? Alt clicking does not seem to work and they are kind of useless if they can't board since I can't use their greek fire reliably. Please help. I have lost so many naval battles because of this...
Hello. So I have been playing byz recently and find their unique units to be interesting. I was wondering if anyone here has successfully dromon rushed someone. The fact you can get a ranged naval unit so early makes it seem that there is an opportunity to take cities
The new ship of the Roman navy, the Dromon will be slowly integrated as the main ship of the Republic. They will replace Triremes, Quadiremes, and Liburnia. The decommissioning and retraining of sailors will take years. These Dromon's will be armed with an above water spur, the naval ram, and mounted Scorpio/Oxybeles.
The Admare mandated that there be classes of Dromon.

The smallest class of Dromon are small galleys, called the Parva Navis, are only manned by 60 men. These are used for scouting missions and support roles. They do not come armed with a spur or a ram, but with mounted Oxybeles. These ships have one lateen sail.

The next class of Dromon is the Levis Navis. It is manned by 108 men. This is a light combat ship. They are used as escorts. They are armed with spurs, ram and mounted Oxybeles. These ships have one lateen sail.

The next class of Dromon, by far the most common one, is the Normalis Navis class Dromon. They are manned by 160 men. These Dromon are the main combat ships of the Roman Navy. They are armed with spurs, a ram and mounted Oxybeles. These ships have multiple masts and lateen sails.

The largest class of Dromon are called the Gravis Navis. They are large ships, manned by 300 men. These are common ships, but not as common as the Normalis Navis. They are considered heavy combat ships and able to hold their own against larger ships. They are armed with a ram, spurs, and mounted Scorpio which can be armed with the harpax, which is used to pull ships close to board.
The other ships of the Roman Navy, the Quinquereme, Hexareme, and Octere will still be used in the Roman fleet.

How would/did viking style long ships fare in combat against contemporary ships of Europe. Did they have a maritime advantage over contemporary vessels? If so, what was the advantage and when did it come to an end?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I ended my civ5 achievement journey this week, I am so glad to achieve it on the first steam game I received about 10 years ago!
Some were really painful, fortunately guides available here provided a great help. I would personally say that the most difficult ones are the following:
1/Praise the Victories - each action you perform needs to be perfect + you cannot kill Ethiopia to win
2/Ottoman Carpentry - maybe more difficult than Praise the Victories but more RNG and less skill based imo + easier to do the "sold gold for GPT" strategy instead of killing everyone for culture and you are broken once you have a decent navy
3/Pax Romana Aeternum (Eastern Rome) - dromons are key, I really enjoyed to wipe out Persia in the last turns -> most satisfying game I had
4/Mehmet the Conqueror - a really decent one, quite ok if you manage to stop Ayyubids and settle conveniently in Anatolia in the early game.
5/Genghis Khan - could have been "All-Achieving Zeus" but that one becomes straightforward once you apply the classical Egypt + sell gold for GPT strategy tricks
Do you have any mods to recommend to go further in this great game? I admit that I have not tried a lot of them.

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
